I wouldn't say mean... our grace is a nipper... but she has a fear aggression. She gets scared easily and was never trained (she is a rescue) to do otherwise.

I truly believe it is more that some owners don't take responsibility to train these types of dogs because they are cute and cuddly and people don't realize they need as much training as a larger dog.

more often than not Yorkies are very sweet.

Of course not! ...but you did come to a yorkie talk website. We are a little prejudiced.

But really, I had heard the same thing before I got Baxter, and I truly believe it is the owners who make their dogs mean. (like ambocken said)

99% of the time if you want to see how a dog will behave......look at its owner. You know the saying the apple does not fall far from the tree and you get out of it what you put in to it are so true. As long as you put in the time and dedication to your dog you will have a faithful and loyal companion.

Yea i didn't think they was as bad as he was putting them to be. My mother was looking at me crazy like, "are you sure you still want to get one"

YES!! Phoebe is so mean to her brother Zeus and her new brother Jo Jo (my fiance's dog). She is a 3lb bully.

Solcialization is VERY important with all dogs I tried to expose Milo to as many different things, people, animals, and places as soon as I got him. I am fortunate that he comes to work with me so he gets to see people all the time and loves meeting everyone, he also has gone on playdates with my customers over the years and I try to make sure he goes to either pet smart or petco once a week just to be around the other dogs and I also send him to doggie day care at least 3 times a month. A well socialized and excersised dog is a happy dog.

I have 3 girls and they are the sweetest cuddle bugs. the most important thing is to socialize them with kids, adults, and other dogs at young age. Mine are all really socialized and they just love everyone..

There is no such thing as a dog that is born mean. They are Made mean by the dregs of humanity! Yorkies, are the angles of the dog world. Show them love and it will always be returned.

My 2 girls are not mean at all well Mia is just a baby but Lily is almost 3 and she's never been mean to anyone!

I have 6 dogs, including a german shepherd, none of my dogs are mean, nor would they be allowed to be mean.
