Marley & Me - My new puppy - I'm new! Hey everyone - I'm brand new to this forum so, I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Heidi and I'm 21. I'm married and am 28 weeks pregnant with our first. On top of all of that exciting news, we just moved to San Antonio 4 weeks ago. And, today I am getting my new Yorkie baby, Marley ( yes, I already named him and I totally forgot about the movie until I was writing this post! ). He is around 6 weeks, which I think is rather young but he has been checked by the vet and OK'd to leave his mommy and go to a new home! Marley isn't purebred, he is actually a Yorkie/Pomeranian mix. But he is much more Yorkie. I'm actually waiting for the lady I'm getting him from to bring him over right now! She lives in the apartments across from me. I've never had a Yorkie but I have 3 other babies back home in AZ (my hubby is in the Army and we are only in San Antonio until July so we left the babies with my parents so they didn't have two long moves via car...my Mexican Hairless boy gets violently carsick.) So, I have Joey (11 month old rescued poodle/s**tzu mix). Naomi (1 year 2 months old pure chihuahua, gift from hubby). And Loki (1 year old rescued pure Mexican Hairless). I also have two parakeets that are about 6 months old named Oliver and Sydney. Just wanted to introduce myself and my little animal family here. I will post pictures of Marley ASAP! Any advice on Yorkie pups? Best Wishes, Heidi |

Hello and Welcome! I hope that you will be sharing pics of all your animal babies. Congrats on expecting your first skin baby as well! :D |
Welcome to YT! :welcome4: Congrats on your new furbaby Marley, and your skinbaby on the way!! ;) |
Well Ya'll, Marley is here! I got the whole story on this little guy. The gal that had him was fostering him for a shelter. Apparently there was a raid done on a puppy mill here in town - all yorkies and yorkie/pom's. They were covered and fleas and ticks, all had worms, and were in terrible condition. Marley was taken at the age of 2 weeks and was bottle fed. The vet who checked him out said he is 4-6 weeks now, though they think closer to 6 because his teeth are coming in now. He was dewormed and is pooping out gross wormies. And has some scabs on him skin from the parasites and he has an ointment for that. Other than that he looks great. He is a little timid and hes tiny! Hopefully Marley will make a full recovery! I am making him an appointment in 2 weeks for vaccinations and a wellness exam. We are going to go shopping at PetSmart soon and get some things to spoil the little boy with! I'll post pictures soon, he's zonked out right now. His fur is more like a pomeranian at this point but his face looks like a yorkie. So it will be interesting to watch him grow! I wonder how people can treat such innocent little creatures with suck disrespect and cruelty. Heidi |
:) Welcome Marley Heidi :) I am from AZ too- its good to see another AZ person!! |
Welcome and congrats on everything! I can't wait to see pictures. I am sure with all the love that you are going to give him that he will make a full recovery. It is a good thing that you have come to his rescue. |
Welcome Marley and Heidi..... |
Welcome and congratulations on your new baby and your pregnancy. Poor little guy, at least he is safe and loved now!! Can't wait to see pictures! |
Welcome, and I sure am glad he got rescued! I don't get why people treat animals that way at all. I look forward to seeing your little munchkin soon. Oh, I live in Texas too! I am north of Waco, so not too close. |
Welcome to YT Heidi and Marley! Hurry up and post pics!!! We can't wait to see him! |
Welcome to YT. We all love pictures! Rescuing is such a wonderful way to help that little boy. All the best to all of you. |
Welcome, and congrats! If you ever have any questions about your pup, don't be afraid to ask. :) There are a lot of very knowledgeable people on here. And congrats on your pregnancy too! Im pregnant also but Im not nearly as far along as you are. Just 11 weeks. Definitely post some pictures! |
Hey guys- Marley just got home from shopping! We got him some toys, a leash and collar, puppy pads, brushes, all the essentials. He is currently having a drink and eating out of him new dish. I'm feeding him The Blue Buffalo Co. formula - its puppy and Lamb and Brown Rice. Its the best I could find. He was on Science Diet. The gal said she'd bring some by but never did and the little guy was starving. Anyone know much about this food? Also, I have my other three pups crate trained. They have one hug crate so they all sleep together at night. I didn't want to buy another crate because I have 2 other nice wire ones back home in AZ. So, I live in a tiny apartment. Do you think I can just make the little bathroom his bedtime room? I put a potty pad out in the kitchen for during the day. And I figure I can put another with him in the bathroom for bedtime. So, unfortunately my battery charger for my camera is NOT working!! GR!!! But I'll try to figure out how to use the silly camera on my laptop and get some pictures that way! Heidi |
Ok, found a good battery. Its charging so I'll have some pics up in 2 hours! Little Marley is zonked out on the couch. I really do think he has Pom fur because hes just a big pouf ball! Hes adorable though! See you soon! |
Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk! We are so glad you are here. :) |
Ok, I couldn't get the files small enough but here are the photobucket links! Introducing My Marley! He says his new collar itches. http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/t...d5weeks003.jpg I had to pacify him with fingers so he would hold still for a picture! http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/t...d5weeks009.jpg http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/t...d5weeks010.jpg Sorry, the little booger wouldn't hold still! He ws either itching the collar or trying to eat the camera. Silly Goose! Anyways, what do you think? More yorkie or more Pom? Sometimes I think one sometimes I think the other! Heidi |

I don't mean to sound rude, but if he is really that sick, why didn't the vet keep him, so he could get IV fluids, and medications? especially since he is so young, its not that good to have him around other dogs, let alone that your pregnant!? I hope he will be otay though! |
I understand your concern but he is actually doing well and is no longer "that sick", but he definitely was. He has received ointment for his skin and had the dewormer - which is why he is pooping the worms. He was treated both at the shelter and at a secondary vet. I will also be bringing him into a vet. He is playing, eating, drinking, and being a normal little puppy. Heidi |

I think it is wonderful that this little guy has found a home and someone to love him. He is adorable. Being pregnant though I would let your doctor know about the new addition to your family just to make sure there isn't some type of precautions you might need to take or any type of risks due to the worms. I know when I was pregnant my doctor had me wear gloves when gardening because of the risk that I might come into contact with any cat stools in the soil. There is always a lot to learn and it doesn't hurt to ask. Enjoy your little guy. He is a cutie!!:congrats: |
A few more of my little boy this morning. He has been napping all morning (of course he would, because he wanted to be up ALL night and kept sneak attacking my ears and trying to chew off my earings!) Peaceful Boy http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/t...d5weeks004.jpg The Evil Eye...I woke him. http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/t...arrett/053.jpg So, I was going to put him in the bathroom for bedtime. With a bed and potty pads and food/water, and some toys. Yeah, that lasted about...2 minutes. I'm usually so good about training them. But this little one made me feel so guilty! He's so young and shouldn't have to sleep alone after what hes been through...So Marley slept in bed with Momma. We woke up every few hours for potty and a few minutes of play. He ate a little too. He would start whining so I'd scoop him up and set him on his potty pad. And just like the angel he is, he went pee. So Smart! So, who thinks he lookes like a Yorkie? And who thinks he looks more Pom? I can't decide! |
He is sooo cute!!!!:p |
