Platinum Yorkie?
 
So... I currently have have one yorkie my baby Vinny, well I decided I needed to get him a friend and have looked at a few puppies. Well I just fell in love with one little girl and put a deposit on her. Well the lady (this is her first littler so I guess she is not a breeder) told me the father was a platinum yorkie. She had both parents on site and he was almost all silver on his back and had a golden face. So instead of black he was silver? Is this an "platinum yorkie" or is this just a scam of sorts? Well not really a scam because she is going to be a pet and I thought the coloring was cute... but more a common or recognized color?

Those are common colors. Mine are both blonde with silver backs

The little girl my son has(she was mine until he begged me for her) is 1 1/2 and she's gone from being all black to being all silver with the golden face, we call her a "yorkie", not platinum

Maybe I explained that wrong. Sorry.

I guess his back was almost white.. his hole body was almost with but with a little shine to it and his face was more silverish but a tint darker than the body... not really gold. :( I wish I had a photo.

More like a beiwer yorkie but with no black and almost unnoticable blond on the face it was so light.

That picture looks more like a Morkie to me, noticed the size and shape of the eyes as well as the tear stains, very common in Maltese.

I have seen some that are very light like that and they are just a yorkie. There is no such thing as a platinum yorkie. The breedeer caan call them what she wants I quess but dont pay more because shes telling you that your getting something unique because your not. I have seen very dark yorkies and very light yorkies

I just used that to color compare... he looked very much like a yorkie even more in the face. He was also AKC registered.

oh yes, she is not asking any extra she just said "and the father is what they call a platinum" I googled it but havn't found much except for one breeder who says the breed Platinum yorkies but don't have any photos. So I was just curious if any of you guys knew anything.

Oh ok thats good. Some people really like the super light yorkies

Here is a picture of a female I owned about 7 years ago. Is this the color you are talking about. This female was very light but she had the silkest coat. It never matted and was so so soft. We called her Yap Yap because that is what she did every time I tried to walk out of the room.:)

OMG... she's beautiful! I've never seen a Yorkie like that.

That's the first time I've seen one this color, beautiful, and so shiny! Platinum does seem like an appropriate name.

Oh wow, what a stunning little dog...!

My Penny has a silvery coat on her back, but sadly it isn't silky like that.

When we got him at a year old he weighed one pound, and had matts and could not walk... He is much better now

Oh I knew he was small, but I had no idea he was that small. Glad you found him, and could give him a good home, his coat looks beautiful now.

Yes, he looked just like that even a little lighter. :) but the shine is right on. I hope my new puppy matures with similar coloring... she is pretty light right now for how young she is. I saw her at 3.5 weeks and she was already showing light coloration on her legs and back a little.

While, I think there are many beautiful lighter colored Yorkies I prefer those that are within the breed standard. I have another female at home unrelated to Yap Yap that also has a very silky coat and she is about the same color as Yap Yap but both her parents are dark steel blue. I would have never believed she would have turned out so light. So you just never know. I hope your puppy turns out to be just what you want but I am sure you will love her regardless. When are you getting her? We will be looking forward to seeing pictures.

Yap Yap is gorgeous!! My Stormy is a darker blue/silver on her back and more near her butt she gets much lighter in color!

Omi-gosh. Yap yap is GORGEOUS!

I have pics of Missy's Mom, she is pretty light coloured too. I'm hoping Missy will end up with her coat.

Missy's mom is very pretty. She is about the same color as my Shorty. Shorty was about 4 years old in this picture. He is lighter now and he is around 9 years old.

Thanks, he is single but his courting days are over.:)

Thanks to all for the complements on Yap Yap. She was a special girl. I never kept any of her pups because they were always too small. She weighted 5 pounds. I rehomed her about 5 years ago.

I believe the Platinum yorkie your talking about is just the womans website name and or could be her kennel name to. just go to Platinum Yorkies i have known this site has been there for some time. My Cowboy is very light also, we call that just silver back

Yorkshire Terrier Puppies For Sale is the site they have other links reffering to the lighter ones as platinum's and the others as black and tans.

Our Maggie is a silver girl too and interestingly she is darker when she has her summer cut...
