is it okay to leave her home alone overnight? my boyfriend booked a hotel for us to stay at next weekend and he didn't think to make sure that it was pet friendly! i have no one to babysit her and i'm not sure if i should leave her alone overnight. i never lock her in a cage or kennel she usually has free roam of the house. i leave her food and water out 24/7 since she doesnt really have a feeding schedule. what should i do?!?!!? |
oh and its only one night!! i'd leave her around 1 or 2 and come back the same time the next day |
I was faced with the same problem last weekend? I just could not leave Bella alone for a whole night. She has never been on her own for 24 hours straight and was worried about her being alone in the dark, so I got my best friend to baby sit her, she was great, although when I picked her up from my friend I only got two hello licks... She was not impressed with me :p |
I never would - if you can't find anyone I would look into boarding him at the vet. Too many things can happen. not safe |
I have never left Lucky all night. When I have to leave him if I go out I always gate him in the kitchen. He is always into something so I don't trust him to roam if I'm not home. lol. :) |
I would never leave Tobie by himself at night, I would sneak him into the hotel with me :D!!! |

Personally, I couldn't leave my Maggie home alone overnight. I think she would stress too much. And I certainly wouldn't leave her alone with full access to the house. I'm afraid she'd get bored and chew on an electrical chord or something. |
I've had my Bryan almost a year next month and I have never left him overnight by himself, it's bad enough that I leave him alone during the week while working, but overnight? I don'tbknow about that.... She would probably sleep the whole time, but I couldn't take it Lol! |
I would not leave her a lone over night. a lot of things can happen and i wouldn't want to take that risk. I have sneaked in my girls before to non-pet friendly hotels such as Venetian in Vegas without a problem. My girls don't bark though. |
i agree with the others - i would not leave any of my babies alone overnight ... i stress enough when they are alone for only a few hours :p :) |

I wont be able to Veer home alone. I stay with him whole day. on weekends when DH and I go out for a comedy show, it kills me to leave him home alone. I sneak him to do groceries, dine out.. he has been very good at staying quiet in his carrier ;) |
I would be so nervous to leave him home that I probably wouldn't have any fun, so what's the point. I would worry about fires, chocking, or boredom. (Of course, there could be a fire or he could chock while I'm at work). Most hotels have a 6p day of arrival cnx policy. Is it possible to cancel and rebook at another hotel that is pet friendly? If a housekeeper sees signs that a dog has been in the room, and reports it, they can charge you. (Could be up to $200.00!!!!!) Keep in mind that most hotels that are pet friendly only offer smoking rooms if you have a pet, and are usually (3 star) Holiday Inn type properties. (Depending on the city, you may be able to find a 4/5 star pet friendly hotel). Good luck!! |
I would sneak her in there with me. i wouldn't be able to leave her all night i would be worried sick! |
I think it would be okay if you leave her at home but just make sure you have her in a section of your house and totally "dog proof" that section and your whole house. You should also have somebody come check on her every 3 hours at least to make sure she eats or uses the bathroom. Cause trust me.... if you know shes gonna be alone at home you'll get worried sick by the time it hits night time cause shes never been w/o you. Then the whole hotel stay might not end up so sweet after all because you wont' enjoy it. You'll be up worrying. :( But if you have somebody you trust there watching her every so often you won't be as worried.... Just a thought... ;) |
I personally never would leave Jackson alone. My mom has left their dog alone before for 24 hours but she's 4 years old and used to it. I don't think Jackson could handle it, plus he goes potty outside so I would never make him/expect him to hold it! |
