Tail Docked or Not?? Has your furbaby got a docked tail? I bought Tink with a full tail - she looks a beauty with it! I know it is necessary for some country's breed standards, but I think they look so much better with a full tail!!! :D xXx |
Aww,Pictures please, I LOVE tails.. my 2 yorkies and my silkie are docked, I bought them that way.. when I had my Yorkie Jacks born in my house I kept their tails and they look so beautiful.. hugs, Carmen in nj:) |
We have one docked and one full... and needless to say everyone loves the full tail. |
I have one of each. My Bella has her long pretty tail because I bought her in Germany and it is against the law here to dock tails or crop ears. Then I flew back to the states and bought Winston and his is docked. I like it both ways! |
I often wondered what our little one would have looked like with an undocked tail. She was cute the way she was but I prefer the full tail look better. |
My Yorkie was a rescue with the tail already docked. If it were up to me I'd have left her tail long. |
Noelle's is docked. I don't think I've ever seen one that's not docked. |
Teiya's is docked. I bought her that way. Not sure I would have done it if given the option. I've never seen one full. I have to wonder, if they're born with a full tail, why do they dock them? I want to see pictures of the full tail. |

tail docking Micah is a Biewer yorkie from Germany and all of the Biewers come with a full tail and they are so beautiful, I wish all would require a full tail. my standards do have docked tails and are the loves of my life Betty & Micah my love |
I have one of each. I love the full tail but I think little Mo's stub is cute when he wags it. If I ever bred yorkies (which I have no intention of doing) I would most likely leave them full. |
I wish the standards would change here in america. It's cruel to dock tails and crop ears in my opinion. Yorkies look cuter with their happy little undocked tails wagging away. I have a maltese/yorkie and his tail is undocked and beautiful. |
I like that fluffy curled tail on their back, I could never have their ears trimmed that for me is going to far. Betty & Micah my love |

they dock them because its the breed standard. Yorkies tails have to be docked to be shown in the U.S I personally like the docked tail, however if you are buying a yorkie for a pet and not to show I think it should be your choice as too whether not to dock the tail if you had your pup picked out ahead of time. I know that most people buy yorkie's after the time frame of tail docking though. I knew I was getting a pup from the litter I got Tucker from, I had the choice to have his tail docked. |
Definitely post pics, as I have never seen them with their tails. I think that I would love them no matter which way! |
Stormy has a docked tail, I love her little stumpy!! Personally I like yorkies with a docked tail thats just my opinion. I wouldn't crop ears but I do like yorkies with their ears standing. I just fell in love with their look and theres certain things I wanted in my yorkie. My mom's friends yorkie has a tail and it isn't so bad, it's cute! But when I get my next one I definitely want a docked tail and standing ears.:p |
Gracie's tail 2 Attachment(s) OK, y'all who have never seen a full tail...take a look. |

oh she is just beautiful with or without she would still be gorgeous, my first time to see a standard yorkie with thanks for sharing Betty & Micah my love |
i think the tail is cute. but i also think all dogs are very cute. milu had her tail docked, and i think maybe the ears too? do they say cropped? for ears? i think milu is really cute, if i were a breeder, i don't know what i would do? honestly, i think someone compared tail docking for yorkies to baby boys getting circumcised. although for human i think it is also hygenic? but for yorkies its purely aesthetic. but for breeders, it might be harder for them to sell their dogs if tail not docked since that;s the standard? i don't know. |

Glad you liked the pictures. We didn't choose to keep the tail...the breeder (first litter) did. She's our first dog. We were used to our friends' Yorkies, so docked would have been fine. I do love the tail, though. It's very expressive. And I think it helps her dance (on her back feet) because it helps her balance. Any way, she is the love of our life....not sure what we did without her!:aimeeyork:love: |

hahaha, it's expressive and helps her dance!? wow, i love it! |
OMG I love the natural tail. My girls tails are docked. Patsy has a tendency to carry her's very low, so you rarely see it. Bonnie, on the other hand carries her tail straight up. It looks like a little propeller when she wags it. :D |
Puddin' is not docked, but I can't show her as a result. Our breed standard calls for a docked tail and as of last June, our vets can't dock tails. Unfortunately, the breeders can legally do it themselves, so the breed standard has not changed, |
My Mika!!! 4 Attachment(s) I have'nt got any recent good pix of her tail these are from 4/5 months ago when she was 7/8 months old! I just love all dogs with their tails!!! And prefer them that way!!! |
