How old is your baby? Jumping is not good for the knees and joints, can lead to slipping kneecaps even as young as a puppy, it happened to my 7 month old once. Use stairs or a stool to help her up. Or just pick her up and put her there!! :):aimeeyork |

We have ramps for both bedrooms which my hubby made and carpeted, and boughten steps to the couch in the living room. I don't think you are being overprotective at all. |

They have those steps or I have big pillows on the end of my bed that I stack so she can get up and down. It works well. |

We use an ottoman as well. I found a longer oval one that fits perfectly next to the bed, looks pretty too!;) |

Our bed is very high and our Yorkie wouldn't jump off the bed at first but now she does. I put pet stairs on my side and she uses them to get on the bed but still prefers to jump off. I keep working with her on going down the stairs but she just doesn't like to. However the cat will use them to get on and off the bed. Go figure. |

I used to use shoe-boxes! My baby always cried at night though - she had her own bed(s) in my room and slept there - until one night she found it way more comfy under the covers snuggled up to me. Then she played hell up so much - she used to wake up at like 3am and be scratching like crazy on the side of the bed and whining on my side of the bed! I had to lift her up every time. Just lucky she's big enough now to jump up herself :) xXx |

Well, i got her up :) I flipped over a laundry basket and put a pillow on top, and now shes a pro! She jumps up and down without any problems! Now, if i could just get her to digging in my comforter  |

We use an ottman too. But now I have started worrying about falling out of bed....so I am thinking of buying two inflatable raft that will slide under the bed during the day, but we can pull out at night in case they fall out. We have wood floors, so that is why I am so worried. |

Our Yorkie sleeps between my knees, she won't fall out but I can't roll over or get out of bed either. ;) |

That's what we did for a while, just have our boxspring on the floor. We recently got a bed thing where we just put our mattress on top of it and it has drawers underneath. It's higher up but still low enough for both my little ones to jump up and down. |
|
We just put our mattress on the floor (we didn't even bother buying the boxspring) and is the height is low enough to the ground for him to jump up and down safely and I have his bed right which is lower right next to mine so he sometimes jumps in to his bed and then to the floor. |

We used to have steps for the couch when Buddy was a pup, and we would just put him on the bed when we went to sleep. Now, he can jump from the floor up to the bed...pretty big jump. However, we have a bench infront of the bed that he also uses to get up and down. |

1 Attachment(s) Mimi & Momo both sleep in my bed w/me. They never liked using the steps for some unknown reason, so I returned it. They like using the...I don't know what they're called, but here's a pic below. It's like those cushions that you use in dorm rooms...they actually use that to go up & down the bed. It's propped up against the bed...I got mine from bedbath&beyond. |

I have a couch beside my bed that he can jump on then jump to my bed :) |
