Sleeping in bed with furbaby? I have been falling asleep on the couch lately to sleep with my furbaby :) And she has a pretty hard time getting up there as is (sometimes 6 jumps ). And our bed is a queen, but very high up off the ground! How would i make my bed easily accessible to her? she wont jump off high grounds, and i dont want her to get hurt! Any ideas on how she could get up and down as she pleases? She potties on pads pretty well, so im hoping we could have her potty pad in our room at night. Do i sound like a silly overprotective mama? hehe! |
Overprotective? Absolutely not!! Some use pet stairs - however they aren't very attractive... so I use ottomans. Good luck! |
We have the same issue and are looking into dog stairs--the padded kind. Also, we might put on a night light so he can see where he is going. Hope this helps. |
You are definitely NOT being overprotective- just smart. :) We use an ottoman as well! |

helpful? Overprotective? Absolutely NOT! Considering how easy it is for our babies to break a leg. My bed is extremely high--used to be a waterbed and has 2 drawers deep underneath it. We have stairs from my grandmother's bed (hers came with them). But, I've also been looking at the cushiony ones that they sell in catalogs. We've also used ottomans. They work quite well too. |

We have a fairly small bedroom, and a crib on the other side for my daughter, so i dont think we would have room for an ottoman or stairs... I was thinking of a pile of pillows, but maybe something more creative  |
reply My grandfather in law pput pillows around his bed and made his own stairs. That could work. |
I have ramps next to each bed and they fly up and down them. I have the scamp ramps. |
Hi, it's ok you are not overprotective... Logan never jump off the bed, he cries at the hedge when he wants to go at night....:) |
Here's a dump question... can Yorkies sleep somewhere else but in our bed??? Or better... we are blessed they let us sleep in their bed! ;) We took the bed frame away and have the boxspring right on the floor (that way I don't have to clean under it either :D) and some pillows in different hights to get up and down... |
we have a leather love seat at the foot of our bed. the dogs jump easily onto the loveseat then up the soft back onto the bed. its easily done by both my maltese and my yorkie pup. They do sleep with us in our kingside bed. my yorkie likes to be between our 2 pillows and my maltese at the foot of the bed. we are lucky enough to have a large bed where we are all comfy. When we leave, the dogs like to be up on our bed. ( But madison the yorkie will also go in her crate and hang out there.) |
My baby sleeps curled up around my legs everynight. We have a king size bed that is very tall so she can't get up there by herself. But we pick her up everynight. I need to get some type of stairs for her. |
i sleep with two or three in my bed every night. I have a peepad in my room and when one of them wants to go potty, they bark just a little. I sit them on andd off the bed but mine usually sleep thru the night. |
All are great ideas!! Thank you :) |
I went from a very high queen bed to a lower King.... bought this just for my baby to be able to get in our bed... :) I call that spoiled, but the new bed is soooo comfy and she has her own space. It is sooo nice.:animal-pa |
I bought a carpeted ramp on Ebay for Lily and it works great on my bed for her. If you are interested pm me and I will look up where I got it for you. |
Just to let u guys know.. they have these GREAT puppy steps at petco. They are a little pricy, but they are wooden steps that actually have little drawers in them to put your doggy's favorite toys! Has anyone else seen these steps? I've been waiting for them to go on sale- they are about 60 bucks;) |

:grin2: I can just visualize pushing him off the bed for her :grin2: I nearly push him off myself! Might be a good reason to upgrade once i get her up in bed with us :animal-pa |

Great idea! I have needed doggie stairs for awhile now but didnt want to spend the $$ right now...I have an ottoman sitting in my den(in my way) that will work perfectly!! (and matches my bedspread too!) Thanks!:D |
We have Cheap stairs we bought at Walgreens, but hey do the trick in my home. Yes I have to have my babies in bed with me at night. Pablo since his littermates left. They all have their spots |
Use Pet Stairs I found the 3 step set at Bed, Bath, Beyond for $10. They have aa sheepskin like cover that is washable. My Pete can't jump up on the couch and it got to be a major pain to pick him up each time. |

charlie has never been in our bed. He is allowed in the room but not on the bed b/c the husband say no pets on the bed. :( charlie loves to sit on my lap..sometimes he will fall asleep on my lap. He is so wonderful. |

When mine were younger, my husband built a ramp, and I just put a long blanket on it for tracktion. But now that my babies are bigger...(6 pounds) we use two ottomans, one is a bit larger than the other so they work like stairs. The ramp worked well for a long time! ;) |
