New Baby that needs a name!! Hi all, I came home with my yorkie baby on Valentines day! A little man who is so sweet!! My problem is finding a name and sticking with it. ONe day he was Max, Valentino, Baxter, Harley....... I am now calling him PUPPY poor dog. I have a son in the marines and thought of trying to come up with something that would have something to do with that but came up with nothing. So, here are some names and as you can well guess I am OPEN to any you might have for me. On another note he is doing sooo good on training. We hung a bell by the back door and twice he has rang it to go outside. So, he goes outside and does use the puppy pads too. NO accidents in the last 3 days. I am not holding my breath tho. ha! Harley Stirling Gunner ??? Thanks, Karen |
I like gunner and harley. Both sound very masculine and that suits male yorkies very well hehe |
Congratulations on your new baby boy! I like the name Gunner. It sounds like you had the Military in mind when choosing that one. |
Hi. I am not so great with names without seeing and being with the puppy. I just wanted to say great job on the potty training. Coco, Pebbles and Trixie are sending great big welcoming hugs to you and your new little guy. I don't know what I would have done without this site. Everyone is so nice, knowledgeable and very helpful. So welcome again. :ghug: :yorkietal :welcome4: P.S. Tell your son we said thank you for keeping us safe. May God be with him. |
Hi Karen...I agree with jmdt...please tell your son 'Thank You!' for his service to our country. I have several family members in active duty right now so I can certainly understand and appreciate the sacrifice of others. That being said...I like Gunner. My Molly just had 3 boys and their nick names are Tank, Tugboat and Boomer...I was never good at names but one day they just hit me and seemed to fit their personalities so they stuck. |
Hugs to your son serving our country!! My hubby was in the military too =) Sniper comes to mind :) |
Thanks! Everyone here is so nice! I am so glad i found it. Thanks so much for the support! I am leaning to Gunner or Gunnie (which is what they call a SGT). I guess I will pick a name before he gets too old. ha! I will try to get my son to post a picture if I can figure it out. Thanks and please say a prayer for my son Michael who heads off to AFghan. pretty soon. Thanks, Karen |
I am a Harley Davidson fan, so My choice would be Harley:) Cheers to your son serving our country! HE is a hero in my eyes. |
I personally love miles, tanner, and griffin, but thats just me! =) |
Name I love Nikko for a boy dog and I wish I could think of the name of the yorkie they had on Charlies Angels? Bosco? |
Well since you got him on v-day, maybe call him Romeo? |
Gunner or gojoe.Congrats on your new baby boy. |
How about I Googled Marine bulldog names for you and found the first Marine mascot was....At the Marine base at Quantico, Virginia, the Marines obtained a registered English Bulldog, King Bulwark. In a formal ceremony on 14 October 1922, BGen. Smedley D. Butler signed documents enlisting the bulldog, renamed Jiggs, for the "term of life." Pvt. Jiggs then began his official duties in the U.S. Marine Corps. I couldn't tell you what the current mascot's name is, but thought Jiggs was cute. However, if you go to the Marine's website it might give you more ideas. Names can be very hard, but since you're looking for a sentimental one it will probably just pop out at you. Good luck and please let us know what you decide. Congratulations on you little man and God Bless you and your son for his service to our country. My son just left for Navy boot camp nine days ago, so I understand your fears and concerns for your son very well. Actually, now that I think about it I believe I've heard some Marine friends call their mascot Smedley. How about that one? |
I vote for Gunner! |

Still open Thanks for all the support for my son! We are proud but miss him very much! I will be open to names and hopefully we can pick one soon!! I hate he doesn't have his name yet! Thanks, Karen |
names Congratulations on your new baby! I like the name "Gunner". When I think of the name "Harley", I think of a friend's daughter. Our little man is named "Brody". It was the only name that we could all agree on! Potty training our yorkie has been a roller coaster too...we're not quite off the ride yet. Sounds like you're doing great so far! |
Ha!! You guys are so funny!! lol I love the names you are all coming up with!! Thanks so much for looking at the marine website. I will look at it and see if anything jumps out at me. Gennie, I know what you are going thru with your son off to bootcamp! It is hard to see your son go off. Well, I am going to have to write all these great ideas down and see if we can decide. Thanks so much, Karen |
i was thinking Gunnie. What is your son's rank? |
HAHA You could name him Sgt Romeo or Sgt Cupid or Sgt Valentino... that way you get the military side of things and the valentine's side of things! |

I like Gunner! Especially with the significance it presents... Post pictures! I first thought Valentino, but when I heard about your son, I voted for Gunner...or something related. My son is in the army and it's sooo hard! He is in KY right now, just joined in April 08, but will be going to Afghanistan sometime (not sure when yet). Aren't we proud of our boys, though? enjoy your new baby! I'm getting a new girl soon, but she's too young to bring home yet... deb |
What about TUNN TAVERN. First Marines MEETING AREA in 1776 in Philadelphia. |
Gunner!! Well, I have tried to send this 3 times so let's see if this one goes. Thanks so much for all the names!! Tunn Tavern was cute along with all the others. The family seems to agree on Gunner so guess that is what we will stick with. Debbie, I will be praying for you and your son. I know what you are going thru and it is tough. As a Mother we want to protect our sons and I would have never thought my son would want to be a marine. I am proud of him and yet wish he was at home safe and sound. Thanks to everyone and their well wishes and prayers concerning him! I hope to be able to post a picture soon. hugs, Karen |
