How much does your Yorkie weigh? I was just wondering how much your Yorkie weighs and how old they are. Demi is 6 months old and weighs barely 3 pounds..is this small? |
Gracie is 13 weeks and 1 lb. 4 oz. |
Hi Demi's Mamma.............My Girl Abbey is 18 months old & weighs 4lbs........my little guy Beamer is 8 months old & is about 3 3/4 pounds! When we got Abbey she was 10 weeks & weighed slightly under a pound........She was little & required alot of attention & hand feeding & bits of surgar water! Beamer we got when he was 12 weeks what a difference those 2 weeks make! Probably got her too early...hindsight! But she is a active & healthy little bundle of joy! |
My Yorkie is turning 1 year this month and he is somewhere between 8-9lbs! He is pretty big but I have heard that that is closer to the norm and sometimes they range over 10lbs. We refer to Bailey as "ruggedly handsome". As soon as I can get a picture that is under the minimum, I will post it. He is our first Yorkie and, until now, we have only had large dogs. We have missed a lot, but Bailey is getting us caught up quickly. |
Yes, I think your yorkie is small. ANd I bet very cute! Probably only maturing to 4 lbs at the most (thats a guess) Gracies mom, what did your breeder tell you on weight if they did?..........4 lbs? Myself, I just think those tinies are adorable but I love the bigger ones too! 7 lbs to me is a wonderful size. I own a 9 and 10 pounder and compared to most other dogs they are small! They are the picture of health, and thats what I look for. |

The breeder told me when I bought her that she was 1 lb. 6 oz. at the time (turns out, if you saw my other post, that she was 1 lb. 6/16th of an ounce!) and that her mom is 5 lbs. and the dad is 3 lbs. so she's going to be small, probably about 4 lbs. But now knowing that she was only about 1 lb. 2 oz. at 12 weeks, she may be smaller than that as an adult, perhaps only 3 to 3 1/2 lbs. I guess time will tell! |
LOL............Gracies mom..........I was being conservative!............I was thinking smaller too. I am an over feeder!................meaning I offer special stuff alot with puppies...Moms are spoiled, babies later are spoiled too! Healthy and well fed is important to me............Little extra fat is important.......I like to give people food to them for extras. I know, you should just stick to dogfood but I cant help it! |
Hi there, 3-4 pounds is fine. I think the average is about 5 pounds though. Yours is on the small side. The standard size for Yorkies is no less than 7 pounds and height between 6-9 inches tall, I would think that is measuring from the toe to the shoulder blade, not his head. My Maximus is 6 months old now and about between 3-5 pounds and 7.5 inches tall. :) |
My mia is 28 wks and weighs 5 lbs. Her mom was 4.5 dad 3 lbs |
Bet ya cant feel a rib on MIAS tiny body either! spoiled doggie :) |
Bobo and karlee is 3.5 and 3 lbs bobo is a year old and karlee is 2 years old. Mindy is about 7lbs and 8 years old. Missy is 5 lbs and she is 8 years old. hope and honeybear are brother asnd sister and weigh 2.8lbs and 2 lbs at 4 months old.Oh and PooZack Pepper is 3 years old and 6 lbs. |
Beaker is 4 months old and just at a 1lb 1/2....love hime being small but i do hope he gains some more weight.. 3 lbs would be great |
"Lil Bit"....(she now has a name!!) is 14 weeks old TODAY and I just weighed her (again) on my digital premmie scales She weighed 1 pound 2 ounces....I was a lil bit worried because she has lost 1/2 ounce ...she acts great and is a bundle of energy! Maybe she is running it all off.....(maybe I should try that) That brings me to another concern. I sort of get the feeling she is not REALLY 14 weeks old. The registration papers say 11-2-04, but she is not as coordinated as my other puppy was when we got her at age 12 weeks. This little girl can run and fall over every minute....or she raises her leg to scratch her ear/head and will lose her balance and roll on her back. It is actually quite adorable...but maybe since she was soooo scrawny she is also a bit 'developmentally delayed'. Maybe I will seek a physical therapy consult from my chihuahua. That puppy was flying all over the place at 12 weeks. Jumping onto and off the couch and out-running everything! |

Gracie is just over 7 lbs and she will be 9 months on Valentine's Day :) |
Bentley is 8 months old and weighs 4.6 pounds. |
Schatzie tipped the scales today at 7.5 and she turned 9 months on February 5th. :D |
Luigi is 4.5.months old and is now 3.9!!! We got him at 3.3.lbs, vut then he got sick, dropped to 2.8. So he is doing much better now!!!! A friend of mine has a 1.5 year old boy named Mylo. He is 11.3 lbs!! He's a big boy!!! Another friend of mine has a 3 year old gal named Bella. She only weighs3.8 lbs!!! She is so petite!!! |
My Gucci will be 7 months Feb 10 and she weights around 5 lbs.(2 weeks ago her weight was 4.6 lbs at the vet) She is very picky when it has to do with dog food but she loves chicken and rice. My husband spoils her rotten. |
Our four month old, Magic weighs about 3.2 lbs and our baby is 9 weeks and weighs 1.7 lbs....both had small parents, so we think both will remain small...no more than 4 lbs...but you never know how big they will get!!! |
Mine's a Moose! Zuzi is about 10lbs. No fat on her. She's a very active 11 year old. I love her size, still small but big enough to go hiking with us. People laugh when they see her walking with us when we are in full backpacking gear. She does great! :) |
We are happy with any size as long as healthy The key is health. I was walking Bailey yesterday and some guy with a yellow lab thought he looked like a rabbit and about the same size. I couldn't agree more and we laughed. Bailey has the biggest ears in proportion to everything else that I have ever seen. Good laugh. |
Snoodles was just one year old on Jan, 28th, and weighs right around 3#. She is a delight, but is pretty tiny. Maybe she will gain some when she fills out. They do do that, don't they? |

Duke is 1 1/2 years old and he weighs four pounds. |
:p Hi, I too am a new yorkie owner, Kahula is his name and reading the previous posts I think I have a little "porkie" on my hands. He is 12 weeks and nearly 4lbs. So is the double the lbs @ 12 weeks a okay reference point?? I really enjoy reading all the helpfull info, thanks. I will post my baby pic asap. |
Jackson He is 6.5 months and he weighs 6 lbs. today. Whenever we see Yorkies walking in town or in Manhattan, they always appear SO much bigger than him. But I guess he is average. The standard is "Weight Must not exceed seven pounds." That is according to the AKC. But who cares if their dog isn't up to standards, as long as they are healthy! :D |
Your Hannah and my Bailey have similar coloring. Bailey is silver with very light legs and head and apricot around his mouth. Hannah is a doll! Bailey weighs a little over 8 lbs. He is healthy and that is all we care about. |
Thank You But by the way, his name is Jackson :D |
oops, sorry. I am Sam but you can call me Bailey. |
