Hi, My name is chloe.
I am 17 years old and I dont have much energy any more. But last night, I too did what I was bred to do (Almost).. I was laying down, taking a nap (not much more for a old bird like me to do) When i Heard the intrudor.

It was a Shrew. A very tiny one, but a shrew none the less.

I have never felt so alive, I was Chasing it around like a puppy. Although i couldnt catch him, because the hardwood floors made it hard for me to run, I sure gave him a run for his money! He ran up in under the heater, And I dug and Dug for him for 10 minutes, But my paws just couldnt move the dang thing. I was so tired, I was panting, I dont remember the last time i did that:eek: I hardly knew what to do with it! If i could have only caught up with him, I would have had a nice snack.

But my mommy being the freak she is, Set out a Humane trap for him. And she caught him instead.

I think you should ask your mommy to get you some of them socks with the rubber traction on the bottom. Then you won't slide on those hardwood floors. Just for the back paws though cuz you need the front paws for digging. :D

i dont think i would ever let lexi catch a rat...
im a microbiology major and theres just too much stuff they can catch.
for instance, toxoplama - which require two hosts to finish its life cycle (rats, dogs, and even humans), polyplax (a type of lice), demodex (causes mange), leptospirosis (causes many things such as meningitis)... the list goes on and on.....

I hear what you are saying and Misty ended up with worms after. However, LET... I wish I had that kind of control!! :eek: Guess that is the price I pay for the convience of a doggy door!!

Believe me I would not "let" her catch a rat. I thought she was trying to get to the neighbors dog on the other side of the fence. When I saw she had half of her head under then fence I ran to her because I was afraid she would go under the fence and into the neighbors yard and right as I got there she pulled the rat out from under the fence and attacked it. The minute I saw the rat I grabbed Gracie away because of disease or even rat poison. Thank goodness I was watching her and got her away from it before she broke any skin or drew blood. The problem now might be her instinct to hunt them and unfortunately we have a lot of big healthy "looking" rats around here.

This is cracking me up. I'm imagining a dog watching rats saunter by, patiently waiting for their owner to give the signal to kill one and leave it in her bed.

I know that's not what was meant, but it gives me a chuckle. :)
