no home for bailey just wanted to put out an update on bailey. so far my neighbor has not been able to find a home for him :( . everyone who did ask about him either wanted him for free or wanted him to be shipped(which in the origional thread was told would not do). i have tried to help her find someone since her last resort is to take him to an animal shelter  . she's looking for a good home for him. i read lots of post on yt saying there are lots of loving people on this site who would love to adopt and new baby and love him, but as of today thats not baileys case :thumbdown ..... she cant afford to keep him to much longer. her schedule just doesnt give her but about an hour or two a day with him. also let me just say i think( my opinion only)my neighbor bought bailey because he is very cute and lots of people want small dogs. but im hoping he gets a new home soon. i dont see her very often but last week she brought him outside to walk him with no leash and talking on her cell phone non stop  . bailey was running in and out the street and not once did she put that cell phone down to get her boy. i felt bad because i took my boy in the house but he was trying to follow what bailey was doing and i cant have that...... even though yt has not been able to be a resource for bailey's needs all you guys have helped me so much with my lucky boy and i just wanted to say thanks.....you know our babies are so lucky that they have us and good homes. unfortuantly some other dogs dont have it so good and i guess bailey will fall into that catagory................ :cry8: :cry8: :cry8: :cry8: |
Awe, this is really, really sad. Since her last resort is taking him to an animal shelter why not give him to a good home? Just curious.. |
I don't understand why she won't give him away for free to a good home either. Have you suggested this to her. |
I really agree with Joy - why give him to a shelter ...if she let him go to a nice home for free - it would be the best solution - MUCH better than a shelter though Yorkies do very well in finding homes - I think screening possible new homes and letting him go to the best match for him would be the best solution all around - GOOD LUCK !! You're a good friend for helping Bailey and I hope he gets with someone who has time for him and can give him all the love these guys deserve - Nothing meant towards your friend - Yorkies just aren't for everyone....I'm sure this is a very hard thing for her to do |
i really cant say for sure but i think because she saved up to buy him she wants to try and get her money back ?????? a free healthy yorkie puppy is not something you find everyday even when i wanted one and looked at rescues there was always a donations $$$$$$$$ and never less than 300.00 and these were old yorkie with problems ..and most people pay hundreds even thousands for dogs and she only wants 500.00 for him nothing more than what she paid for him......she mentioned putting an add in the local penny saver and as a last resort taking him to the shelter......but i dont know what her intentions are..... i just saw a lonely pup and thought i would help.......my bigest fear is bailey wont need a home if she keeps bring him outside with no leash and not watching him. he'll end up in doggy heaven :( not to be mean she could be a nice lady but shes not my friend shes just a neighbor who has the same type of dog i have...actually there about 5 or 6 yorkies on my street and sometime we bring them outside so they can play together thats how we meet this girl for the first time thanks .........cocoa |
Hrmm... that sounds a lil' fishy to me. I guess I can understand trying to get some of your money back, but if she's going to give him away she might as well give him to someone who can really give him the loving home that he needs. It seems selfish to me to give the poor pup away (almost in spite) to a shelter & not to a person who could offer him a home. MY prayers are with poor Bailey. *hugs puppy* |
Bailey Yes it does sound a bit strange. Why would you not ship him or take less money for him?? I would take him if I had the money I would buy him if I was close by Have him temporarily stay with me,then arrange for him to be placed in a good home. :) :) :D Verena |

I can also see her wanting to recoup some of her money. But still, it sounds to me like she not very good to him like, she dosen't really like him. I just don't understand why she won't either drop the price a bit or rather then give him to a shelter. Give him to a good home. I guess I'm a little emotional about this I had a male yorkie that we named Bailey several years ago and he got lose and in the road and well you can guess the rest. It's something that you never really get over. |
Sounds like your neighbor made a impulse purchase of a cute little puppy and didn't take in consideration of all the care that is required with a little bundle of joy. I sure wish I lived closer and had the extra money I would give Bailey a home. I hate to hear these stories and especially when shelters are mentioned. Someone needs to come through and give this little guy a forever home. |
Hello all, how old is bailey? can someone give me some inside info, size, weight, housebroken,etc...........??????? |

Go to this link and perhaps it will help answer a few of your questions. There are pictures of him in that thread, too. :) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14148 |
She doesn't need to 'give' him away... But she's not trying hard enough. I can totally relate to her story. I purchased a dog at a puppy store without thinking. I couldn't properly care for him, and I had alot going on, so I tried to find a home for him. When I put my puppy up I received great offers on him because people helped me by putting alot of ads up WITH PICTURES; she may not be trying hard enough. Besides I took less from the person who he actually went to because a)I knew he'd be in a great home, b)she was local, plus c) I was in a rush, and puppy wasn't having the best time home alone. I received offers of 200 - 300 $ even weeks after he was gone!(I paid 1200! and lost 90%) But 500 is way too much. For that price, people can find a Yorkie on their own(or certainly adopt!). She can't forget that they will be doing her a favor as well by giving Bailey a good home, which he deserves. It was her mistake to get a dog before considering the HUGE responsibility, just like I understand it was mine. She needs to take him in account. Money isn't everything. |
I agree. Money isn't everything. She should cut her loses and either sell for less or give him to a good home as opposed to giving him to a shelter which would be cruel. I'm sure someone here would take him . I looked at the pics and he is really cute and not very big!!! His little eyes look sad :( She needs to be more flexible and put his needs ahead of her own. It's not his fault he ended up in a home that didn't work out. Hope you continue trying to help her find him a home. |
He's such a cute little guy. I wish I could take him. He'd run around w/Sango & Nibby all day. :) |
He is a cute little guy. I agree. He must have a terribly lonely life. :( |
