I can understand why you are upset ! I would be too  If she did this then she is dishonest , unethical , and just plain wrong ! Your new baby is adorable , But even so, if you feel in your heart of hearts that you still want your original dog that you chose I would ask ( in a demanding way ) that the breeder prove the puppy you chose is the puppy you received and if it's not get your money back and go elsewhere. BUT if you are able to let it go and are bonding with your new pup than I wouldn't worry about switching her , but I would still contact the breeder and let her know how you feel. Regardless of weather you choose to keep this pup or not , what she did was wrong. |

yorkie-mia -- Just wanted to say, welcome to YT. I am so sorry for what you have been through. I am sorry for the loss of your dear yorkie. This situation with the breeder is horrid. She will no doubt get whats coming to her -- whether or not you deal with her or not. I understand that your husband is attached to her. She is one adorable pup. I will pray that you will bond with her and treasurer her all the more. Also, I love that your hubby is using the Vita-mix ;) -- I love my Vita-mix -- most important appliance in the house! |
Hi Yorkiemia, I am sorry this situation is taking the fun out of having your new Yorkie. This question may have been answered already and I missed it (if so, sorry) but I was wondering if you talked with your breeder and if so, did she offer to let you come back and see the other females in the litter to ease your mind? If so, then you probably have the right puppy. To me, that would be the right thing for a breeder to do. I would think a good breeder would want their puppies to be happy in their new homes and if they sense some dissatisfaction, they would work to remedy it for their puppies sake. All of the breeders that are members here on YT love their puppies and want them to be happy in their new homes. If she didn't offer to let you come and see the other female puppies, then I would suspect she switched them on you. I have to say that your little girl is adorable. I hope things work out for you! |

I just saw your puppy's picture.. oh my gosh she is SOOOOO adorable! I am glad you are focusing on your new baby's needs and I hope you'll love her more and more with each coming day. They will grow on you real fast!:) |
i am so sorry you were lied to & taken advantage of by the breeder!! :( that is not ok.. but, i must say.. your baby is a DOLL!! so cute! :heart to so, congrats!! ..i know she will bring you more happiness than you could have ever imagined!! :) |
Well I took the advice of some of you on this forum and confronted the breeder again and told her I knew this was not the same puppy I had chosen and listed all the reasons including the facial differences and the huge weight gain in only 6 days. She told me not to contact her again about this matter and did not address any of my concerns or attempt to explain the differences in the puppies other than the one whe had already given i.e. my puppy had been eating too much. She did not offer the names of the other puppy owners so I could see for myself that I did not have the largest puppy instead of the smallest one. So that answered the question in my mind that started this thread! With that behind me I have concentrated on getting to know Mia and have found out how smart she is. At 8 1/2 weeks she goes to the refrigerator and looks at it when it is time to eat. She has figured out where her food is kept. I obviously still haven't gotten her off the wet food yet. She climbs up our stairs already but she can't go back down. She is even getting the hang of potty training. Dare I hope? |
Good for you and it's nice to hear you bragging about it:) Are her ears still up? |

I would hope that your breeder was honest. I can't imagine doing that to someone. I hope all ends well! Take care and congrats on your new baby!!! |
I'm glad you got your answer even though I'm sure it's not the one you really wanted... On another note, I'm a firm believer in that everything happens for a reason. Maybe that smaller girl wouldn't have worked out so well... maybe she would have ended up really sick. There is a reason that you ended up with the bigger one and I'm sure in no time you will love her just like you did the other girl. |
Awww she sounds precious! is that her in your avatar? She is adorable! Quote:

Very nice to hear you are getting to know Mia! I'm sure she is going to be the best thing that ever happend to you. I'm so sorry for all you have been through. It is totally up to you, but I would list the breeder's name on YT if for nothing else than to save others heartache should she do this again in the future. My breeder and I were discussing your situation and she told me it is not uncommon for someone to come in to choose a puppy and want to offer more for one that is already taken. It seems to me your breeder didn't have a very good code of ethics, especially if she did take more money, from someone else, to switch the pups. Best of luck with Mia and congrats on your new baby!!! |
Woo Hoo gosh she's even cuter , didn't think possible. lol correction: meant to say "Nice to see you bragging about HER" |

Wat a Little Cutie Mia is ...so u may have a few xtra pounds of Love :D |
your baby is precious! sooo cute but on the other hand I would be infuriated!!!! unethical breeders make me soooo mad taking advantage of people that certainly do not deserve it,hopefully like ashley said,it happened for a reason but especially with losing your other yorkie and all that woman had to have had no heart!!! She would not get away with it i would make sure of!!!of course Id never ask to switch them back but something would be done...congrats on your baby and sorry about the problem! |
You have every right to be angry but it sounds like you are taking the perfect approach. If you forgive her and move on you'll be much happier. What she did was without question designed to serve her own purpose but in the end you have a wonderful little girl that has just as much chance at being the smallest adult of the litter as being the largest. I have raised this breed long enough to know that you are going to be surprised more often than not at which puppy winds up bigger and which one is smaller. We think when we see a little one compared to his littermates that he will stay smaller, but just as often he'll be the biggest adult. With her beautiful face (from your pictures) and her wonderful temperament (from your description) it sounds like you have a delightful little girl at any size. Knock the dust from your sandals and leave the deceitful experience behind so you can truly appreciate your new furbaby. It's a lesson learned and you are the better person. :D |
