I guess even if animal control didn't do anything, this will at least be documented. |
The dog was not outside when I got home from work, about 330. I don't think animal control would leavel without doing something. |

I have 2 arctic style dogs that grew up in the rockies (nearly 100 lbs), then we moved to michigan. They get uncomfortably hot INSIDE after a while. They are more comfortable in their garage/ run area. If I look out and see them romping around in the snow all day then I know they are comfortable. It's when they spend their day inside of the garage part that I know they are probably cold and then they come in until the sun can shine on them again. I also have a pomeranian (8 lbs) who also has that double coat of fur and she can stay out much longer than my Yorkie. The yorkie has that single human like coat of hair (not insulated) and she goes potty very quickly and wants right back in. I think if that dog was out there in those temps for that long there is no way it could stay comfortably warm. I definitely think some dogs can certainly handle that weather but probably not a small poodle. |

I have not seen the dog, yet, this morning. Hopefully the owners understand the severity of the situation and won't do it again. I hope animal control got there in time, and the dog is alright. |
any signs of their dog today? I think I would call animal control back and make sure this poor this is not at a kill shelter or something. I can hardly believe a little one would survive 7 hrs in those temps - and my 2 don't mind being outside for longer than I would think - but no way even a fraction of that time |

honestly, i would be SOOOO angry if i saw that and i would NOT know what to do. but i would probably get the dog and bring it to my house immediately and then make a post here and ask you guys to please help me because i don't know what to do. |
Calling animal control was the right thing to do. While we all would have wanted to take the pup and find a "good home" that is actually stealing. However, I do have a friend who stuck to her principals and spent time in jail for just that. She took an abused dog and gave it to someone who took it into another state. When the judge asked her where the dog was she refused to tell them even though it resulted in jail time for her. She said she was not going to allow the original owners to continue to abuse the dog. |

i know what is best and what is right is not always what is 'legal'....unfortunately... |
Please follow up with animal control. You dont want time to lapse and they put this dog down. Just follow up and make sure it is safe.... |
I would have taken him in, and called animal cruelty. |

Im so glad you called animal control. I would do the same thing. Its just in about 7 days they euthenize them if they are not claimed. Im glad you called back and the owners had to pay a fine. If this happens again I would be on the phone with animal control . You gave this pup a warm place to sleep. You did great. |
You did the right thing. |
You did the right thing. So many would say 'I don't want to get involved" |
I probably would've called animal control. How could anyone leave any kind of dog outside in weather that cold? That's just heartbreaking. |
