How horrible! Luckily, where I live microchipping is not mandatory. I chose not to microchip my girls since I had heard of the possible cancer link. My last dog died from cancer, and it wasn't a risk I was willing to take. :( |

Darn I can't read that from this computer. It's blocked! That's terrible for the dog and the family who lost it. I choose not to chip Buddy for several reasons. I don't think it's natural to put a piece of metal under the skin without consequences somewhere down the road. That's only my thought. You should be able to do what you want. I find that our government is little by little taking over our choices. I resented using a seat belt and being fined if I don't in my own care which I pay for. Drove me nuts for a long time. I do use the seat belt but I'm not happy about it. It should be my choice. |
What a tragic and sad story :(! Even though she is not blaming the vet, he had to have nicked an artery for this baby to bleed to death. Perhaps the baby's arteries were abnormally located, for some reason. My first thought was hemophilia, which I guess they ruled out. Whatever the case, this is very sad. |
With any procedure there are risks, in the case of microchipping, I feel the benefits clearly outweighed the risks. With the millions of dogs microchipped there have been very few incidents of problems. It's unfortunate that government has to dictate rules, but certain areas have a real problem with animals freely roaming, and irresponsible owners. These dogs impregnate other dogs, and the shelters have to euthanize thousands of dogs daily. I think officials are at a loss on how to handle the problems of roaming dogs, and at least with a microchip, they know whom the dog belongs to. Another real problem of which many people aren't aware, is the increasing popularity of dog fighting. People seen with a bloody beat-up dog, just deny that the dog is theirs. Microchipping could seriously cut down, on all the owner denials seen in this sport. Remember, they don't even care about the loser dog, and don't necessary want it back. |

My biggest problem with this is the owner didn't want to do it but was forced to do it because she didn't have the right to make this choice herself. And her best friend was killed due to her having to do this proceedure against her own will. I don't like microchips myself, I was the one who held my sons GSD while she was implanted and she looked me in the eye as it was implanted and her eyes went blood shot! I will never forget the look of pain in her eyes as she is looking at me. :( She is a big girl I can't imagine how the little dogs feel while they are being implanted and its totally not natural. I myself do not want microchipped. Next thing you know they will mandate that we are microchipped. Key thing here to me is having the right to have a choice of wether you want it done or not to your pet. |
That is sad! I think microchipping should be a choice and not mandated. Same with spaying and neutering. Mine were microchipped when they were spay/neutered. |
What a tragedy!! That poor baby! I have had all my girls chipped when they were spayed. I would NEVER do it when they were awake. I have seen it done to big dogs and it must REALLY hurt. That needle is HUGE to insert that grain of rice. Kissy will be chipped if she is ever put out for any reason but not until then. |
What a sad story! I don't have any of my dogs micro chipped either, well, i forgot, Shelby our rescue is, but that was done at the rescue. I guess it might sound silly, but, i am just not comfortable with the whole idea of micro chipping. It just doesn't seem right to me. I think it should be a personal decision to make and not a mandatory one. But that is jmo!:) |
Microchipping has had more positive results than negative. All three of mine are chipped which gives me some peace of mind. They are also DNA tested. I do agree it should be a matter of choice whether to microchip or not. |
