My two can swim. We've had them in the water with and without life jackets. We wanted to make sure that they knew what to do if they were to fall in without their lifejackets on.

Hi,

For those of you who have a yorkie that likes to swim - do they ever jump off the dock? We have a lab that my youngest daughter goes to "Dock dog" competitions with. We just got a new yorkie puppy today and we are happy to see that yorkies l:)ike to swim. It would sure be fun if he could follow in our labs shoes and go dock dogging!

Coral loves to swim. I have a big dog that loves to swim and one day she jumped in after him. Luckily we showed her where to get out before that happened. Now she will jump in at the first step and swim a lap or two before she gets out. Even though i know she can swim, we still don't leave her unattended outside.

Couver can swim, but I make him wear a lifevest for safety. This summer, we went to the local wading pool the weekend after it closed and let the dogs go crazy!

He was the only dog there that actually had to swim :p

Mine can swim but their favorite thing is to float on the floating chair with Mommy!

One of my Yorkies fell into our pool while we were at work drowned. It happened last November. The water was very cold and she did not know how to get out. She was only 4 months old. We did not have her in the summer when we are in the pool. Very tragic and very sad :cry:. We put up a fence immediately. But yes, Yorkies can swim. They are so cute when they swim. Buster and Maggie are only in the pool when we are in it. I would advise getting life jackets for them.

Jackson LOVES the water and dove into my dad's fool quite a few times by himself... thankfully, we were in it. I have to watch him carefully when he's over there.

As you can see, he likes to simply lounge, too though....

This past summer Derby would run up to the beach water and run away from it. He wanted nothing to do with it! We're hoping it was just because he was little, and this summer he will enjoy it more.

He's starting to really love being bathed (as long as we don't take forever doing it!) and often wants to hang out in the bathroom paw-ing at the bathtub while I'm in it. He is really getting the idea that the water is a friendly fun thing!

Derby turns the big 1 years old June 22! so it'll be his big year to swim!
