I am just so frustrated. I feel like I have been taken advantage of and I just can't wrap my head around WHY and HOW someone can do this to another person. I really am starting to believe that Stormy WAS ILL before I got her and that she had an underlying problem that the previous owner felt the need to keep from me. I told her I needed a healthy dog, one that wasn't sick and that was going to be healthy. I understand things can come up but I've had her since Oct. and some of these problems started as early as two weeks after I brought her home. I truly in my heart believe this lady KNEW and knew that if she told someone the real reasons she was selling her, not many would of wanted her. She was so pushy for me to take her asap and I was so naive. I was so heartbroken over my shihtzu pup dying that I was desperate to have a new companion. I really thought that Stormy was all the lady said she was to be. I spoke with her on the phone and she was so nice and seemed she knew what she was talking about. I wish I didn't rush into this now I am hurting so bad. I am crying as I type because it pains me so much to think about it. WHY can't my baby just be healthy?? I love her so much, she is so amazing and it hurts me to see her suffering. I have already spent close to 1,000$ if not more on her and I thought spending 1,000 on a pup was too much but now I know it was a big mistake because I could of easily saved and bought a healthy dog. The lady said that she never recieved the money I sent her for the dog and that she would take me to court, I told her at that time that I would take her for the leg surgery Stormy will eventually need, she didn't mention the money again. When my dog had two seizures I called her crying hystrically leaving messages and emails, not once did I hear from her. Not once did she ask how she was doing or if she is even alive any more. This lady told me she loved Stormy more then anything and that she was her baby. WHY was I so stupid to believe her?? I just feel she dumped all the problems on me without any warning. Now I am desperately trying to keep my baby alive. I am only 22 years old. I have a child of my own and I just finished college and owe $20,000 student loan. I am trying to get my wedding planned and we are struggling somewhat because I have been laid. I don't have the extra money for all these vet expenses and I feel so horrible about it. I don't know what I am suppose to do with her any more!! I am trying the best I can but I feel it's not good enough :(:( I wouldn't have a problem caring for a dog with regular costs and possible emergencies but it seems that she has on going issues. Sorry for rambling but I just don't have anyone else to talk too about this.

Oh hon I am very sorry to hear that your pup is sick. Just think to yourself that god put that baby in your path for help. You lost your baby and this is a baby that needed someone to love and care for her. God saw a need to put you both together. I understand that it's hard now financially for you with the expenses your incurring.

Just wanted to send you a hug. I am not sure what else to tell you other than thank you for giving that baby a home that will think of her as a member vs an owned item.

I'm sorry you are hurting so bad.
If you feel you cannot financially care for Stormy, do you have a relative or friend that may want to take her, that way you could still be in her life.
Did you sign a contract with a health guarantee?

Where did you find this "breeder"? did you find her from kijiji or craigslist? If so, I think you should post your story with this person's name and email or website (if she has any), also post it under the canada forum here in YT

beaware, this person will email you and threaten you to take you to court because she may be "loosing her business" from your posts but trust me, she has NO case against you (had a simliar case and asked my high school law teacher).

I would see if you have a case against her at the small claims level that is if you want to persue it. but make sure you have proof that you paid her. like if you wrote her a cheque or what not (something you can trace back) and keep all stormy's medical bills because if you win, the "breeder" will need to pay you back for every penny you spent on stormy when the puppy was sick.

if you don't want to go through with the any of the suggested, just keep faith and be strong and be there for stormy, you'll figure a way to deal with all this...

I am very sorry this has happened. Vet costs are huge when trying to take care of a sick little dog. Now that you love her very much, and thinking that she was ill when you got her is so upsetting. Interesting that the breeder backed off when you mentioned taking her to court. If things are too much and are unmanageable I agree that you might have to rehome Stormy. Your child has to come first . I hope things become easier for you. :aimeeyork

I found her on kijiji, she is not even from my city, she lives in Missisouri and the transaction took place in Michigan. She actually has been on this site but I don't think she has been on since I posted about the seizures. I don't want to get involved with courts as it will be a complicated procedure since it is in a different country. I didn't get a health guarantee as she was 1.5 years old. The lady bought her from some what I believe as puppy mill breeders and had her for 1.5 years. She was diagnosed with LP at an early age and the woman who bought her was made aware of it, she didn't tell me about this, I found out after doing my own research when I called the original breeders. The lady offered to give me another breed of pup or pay a very small cost for another yorkie but does not ship. The way she describle her breeding was they sell to a broker since they are menonites and do not have electricty or cars therefore they can't ship the dogs. She said I could come to Missisouri for a pup but I said no thank you. The lady even said she gave the last owner a contract that the dog was sold as pet ONLY not for breeding and that she had weak knees, she was registered as APRI (which now I know is nothing but garbage!)

The lady said she was selling her before she couldn't breed her with the male she had, so her excuse was she wouldn't breed so she was selling her. She was a total crock of sh... because she told me originally she was a yorkie breeder for about 20 years. I already put an ad up on kijiji in Michigan but it was deleted shortly after.

I don't have any friends or relatives that will want to take a sick dog in that will cost them hundreds of dollars. I don't think ANY one would really do that. I am stuck in this situation. There is no places around where I live that you can surrender a sick animal so they help. The only options you have is to put your dog down.

I am not sure what is wrong. I thought it could of been something she ate because this morning on her blanket was a little puke. It was pretty fresh. She looked kind of drowsy to me but she got up and went pee. She's drinking some water but doesn't seem interested in eating. I think her belly is probably upset. Of course I am thinking the worst that it could be something else? Maybe liver ? I know she had two seizures in early November and the doctor wasn't sure, he had some ideas but gave her some inflammatory shots and she got back to normal, I thought it may of been her low blood sugar. Then she had the accident and almost died, the vet wanted me to give her a few weeks to get back to normal before any type of surgery. She was amazingly great until this morning :confused::( I don't know what she could of got into the only things I can think of is the garbage, maybe some candy or a popcorn kernel, my daughter had threw some on the floor. SHe was fine last night and my hubby slept with her and said she was not acting any different at all last night. So perhaps this morning something happen? I woke up at 9am. She had a bone in her bed that she enjoys chewing, she was chewing it last week and bit alot off while chewing. Maybe the same thing happen now? I don't know. I am just hoping this passes. Right now I am home by myself, my hubby had to go out to run errands.

I know how overwhelmed you must feel right now. I know advice is easy to give and not always easy to follow but lets try to put some of this into prospective for you.

You sound to be a caring and loving person. I truly believe that people and animals come into our lives because we need them and they need us. She is lucky to have you...someone who is willing to do her best to make sure she has as healthy and long a life as possible. Know that you did right thing even though you weren't provided with all the information you should have been. We make the best decisions we can at the time we make them and with the information we have.

If her former owner was willing to sell her knowing full well she was sick you know they weren't going to act in her best interests. You obviously are so feel some strength in knowing that you have a kind heart and will do your best.

Your best is all anyone can ask of you. True, sometimes our best is not always good enough to make the situation turn out the way you want them to, but you need to feel strength in the fact that you are doing your best.

I had a hard time finding online the vets in her area, I spent a whole day trying to find ways to get the word out about her in her city but I called a rescue I believe it was or shelter and told them my story, the lady said she would call me back and never did, the sad part is she said she heard of this lady and it wasn't good things she heard.

This lady was selling my Stormy, a yorkie pup, maltese and pomeranian also. I should of known but when I went to the house and seen Stormy she was just beautiful.

I am so afraid of having another dog die. I was traumatized by finding my poor little shihtzu dead. He also appeared to be healthy and passed away during the night, was fine the night before and when we woke up in the morning he was laying in his favorite spot by the balcony door sleeping peacefully. I really thought I was being smart this time. I wish there was someone I could give her to but there really isn't anyone I know who could take her. She is also extremely attached to me. She has warmed up to people and likes my mom but my mom now has her own yorkie pup, she can't afford another sick one :(

Maybe you can call the ASPCA, and see if they can recommend some clinics you can take her too. They are a lot more reasonable, and I just love the vet at the clinic. He's always trying to come up with the most cost effective way to help the dogs out. Give it a try. You may have some luck.

I am so sorry about your situation. Have you tried Canadian Yorkshire Terrier Rescue? Maybe call them and talk to them?

I will look into this tomorrow. I wouldn't mind traveling somewhere to get her some help. I don't know if I want to place her that far away, I believe they ship their dogs all across Canada. I would really like to see her often IF I had to give her up.

Was the throw up yellow bile? If Sadie and chewy don't eat enough they get this... I make sure there is always food for them, sometimes in the morning they throw up a little... then after a while they eat and are just fine. maybe this is all it is...

So many times, I start to worry and think about the worst...and it turns out to be nothing at all! I hope that's it in this case. Maybe Stormy just had a little upset stomach for whatever reason today, and tomorrow she will be back to normal! :xfingers:

What type of bone is she chewing? Maybe that is making her sick.....

It was a pig bone. She had some at my moms two weeks ago because the boxer has one and she was fine so I picked her one up. I believe now though it may be an ear infection. We are going to the vets in an hour so we will know for sure.

I don't have any advice, but my heart aches for you and Stormy. :heart to I will keep you both in my prayers :hands: and hope is something simple like an ear infection. If her sense of balance is off, it could be affect her tummy too. You know, like motion sickness.

I can't think of the name of the company that helps with loans for pet care. I'm sure another YT'er will know the name. Perhaps you can look into that also.

Hmmm now I am wondering if perhaps this bone may of upset her stomach. But it still doesn't make sense why she is pawing at her face. She has a couple baby teeth in that the vet wants to pull but this is what we were waiting for to do because we needed her to heal up with her nose first before any surgery. Could the teeth be causing her pain and therefore she is pawing at it??? I've never run into these problems and I myself or when I had dogs growing up had so many problems with a dog. I just really feel that the previous owner ignored some things with this poor baby. She was doing SO well for two weeks she was amazing, running playing, so happy. She deserves to be happy and well. I am going to call the vet and see how much it will be to run some blood tests. I just don't know because "looking" for what may or may not be wrong can turn expensive. And if she turns out that she may have a liver problem then I know I can't pay for surgery that is for sure. I mean she has some signs that it may be that but I dunno for sure and I know the only way to know is to do some blood tests.

How close are you to Michigan? I am in Livingston County and I found on the Humane Society website some programs for when an emergency comes up and the family can't pay the bills and they put the animal asleep. The funds helps pay for the medical costs so the family doesn't have to put the animal asleep. Maybe this is something you could look into or might find local.

Heres an idea that you can do in addition to what youre already doing.

Have you thought about going to a library or university and checking out some dog care/vet books? Maybe if you do a little research on the symptoms, you can narrow it down so finding the cause may be easier. Or do some research on the internet.

I had the same issue with my little boy. He had so many problems we ended up paying almost $3000 in vet bills only to have him put down. The vet couldnt bring himself to put him down and we took him to Alabama to get checked for liver shunts. The breeder never told us he was a runt and he had four seizures within one hour:(! That was nearly a year ago now we are finding out he is cryptorchid!! ONE TESTICLE!!:eek: This is a genetic problem so we are taking her to court. We told her from the beginning we were going to show him and breed him with a little girl we bought from her but now we cant even register him. Plus the girl may be a carrier since the have the same grandfather!!I know your pain take her to court and make sure she never sells a puppy again.:mad:

I don\'t know anything about the dental anatomy of dogs with their sinuses but I would think that would be a great possibility. I know I had dental work done on one of my top, side teeth. I also had a terrible sinus infection at the time. The dentist said their was just a very, very thin layer of tissue that she left in the hole and my sinuses were on the opposite side of that tissue. My tooth hurt like **** for 3-4 weeks and I had to take pain medicine for it. She said it was because the sinuses were inflamed and were pushing down on the paper thin layer of tissue and it was pushing against all the work she had done and there are lots of nerves in there. She said had I not had that bad sinus infection, I would have only had pain for 1-2 days, if that.

I realize I\'m comparing a human to a yorkie, but does this sound like something like this could be happening to Stormy?

I assume it could be the problem, she didn\'t have her teeth cleaned or taken care of before with the previous owner. I wish I would of looked at her teeth before getting her but I didn\'t know what to look for or what to check for and turns out my baby had everything wrong I should of knew about!
