Since you got your yorkie, what have you given up? lol.. I have given up so many different things since i got keely. And wouldnt trade it for the world. I have given up wearing makeup, she likes to lick it off, an im afraid it would hurt her. -Wearing dangly earings. I only wear studs now. Keely doesnt like them, she barks at them as if to say "get away from my mama!" And she bites at them, which hurts. - going to friends houses all night. I dont wanna leave my baby:) - I have given up being lazy, cause' my girl wants her wals and to Play -I stopped being messy. I clean up my room everyday just incase somethings on the floro that she could swallow or hurt herself with. -My fleece sheets. Keely doesnt like them, they make her too warm. Now i have cotton sheets:( -Listening to loud music. Which is something i LOVED. But it hurts keelys ears. What have you given up? |
Job related travel. Eating lunch at work (go home for lunch to be with Gus). Cut down on playing the flute, because I can't play with Gus on my lap. Going to the movie theater. Sleeping in bed alone. |
Our travel habits have changed. We used to go places and stay at hotels......... now we look for RV sites! (When we Do stay at hotels, I have to look for ones that are clean and accept pets, which is usually quite pricey with the pet fees). I don't feel very comfortable leaving them in a kennel, but one of these days I am hoping to check out Petsuites. It may be an option. |

Ive given up wearing my nice clothes at the moment cos Bebe keeps making pulls in them  And yes my house is spotless!!! cant leave anything on the floor or she has it!;) |
I've given up ... - a spacey room .. Gucci has now moved into the middle of it with his x-pen, tent, bed and toys lol. On the side of my bed in his little drawer thing are all of his clothing, on my side dresser are his hair accessories (in a box) and on the dresser is his bag of food, wipes, treat jar and on the side of the dresser are his puppy pads  - An un-interrupted sleep, he demands for me to get up and feed him at around 6 every morning as well as put a fresh puppy pad and give some lovin for at least 20 minutes, then more lovin around 7:45 and more around 8:30 then I'm up. - Doing anything without taking him with us, he mostly always goes with us. - Going shopping for a long time, leaving the house for a long time and going out of town (he sometimes gets car sick :() - I gave up visiting my bullys outside for 2 months because Gucci hadn't had all of his shots :( that was VERY VERY HARD TO DO, they were so so sad without me.. all they had was daddy. - Watching movies alone, he HAS to be on the bed (I don't mind:rolleyes:) - Computer time alone, he likes to be with me... Pretty much my whole life has changed and I wouldn't change it back for the world... :p |
Just off the top of my head... -I have "reduced" how much money I spend on my random little odds and ends so that I can give my little doll everything -I'm a college student and I stopped studying at the library (I used to virtually live there), so I can study at home with my little Bella Bean on my lap -I have become more of a clean freak now, than I was before -I no longer use my beloved Swiffer Mop after I heard that it could harm her -I don't go out to eat as much in the winter because I can't take her in the restaurants with me -I have given up sleeping in on Saturdays ;) -I have given up the passenger seat in my car...that's where Bella's car seat is now -I have given up my glasses for contacts because Bella was just determined to eat them. lol |
Sounds like Yorkies should come with some type of warning label :D |
Guess I'm lucky, as I've got 6 dogs, and haven't given up anything. |
I have also given up staying at the office for lunch. I go home to let Sophie out. I also gave up riding my bike. I would rather take her for a walk! I plan to sell my bike this spring. I walk my treadmill in the mornings now.:D |
I don't think I've given up anything either. |
I have given up a lot. Basically, i used to go out all the time w/o a care cause i didnt have any pets to look after but now that i have 3 kids basically lol , i don't just go out like that w/o thinking it thru first. I make sure someone will be home with them and that they are all okay. I also used to work more but now with them i dont work as much cause i dont want to leave them alone. Either me or my bf stay with them while the other works. I also gave up the chance to go away to college, i got in a college where i needed to dorn but i turned it down and stayed locally to be with them. I also cant travel as much, i could maybe if i only had 1 but i have 3. But they make me happy and thats all that matters cause if i didnt have them i wouldnt be a happy person |
The only real thing I've given up is having my bed to myself! However, what I have recieved in return of having my Suzi is HUGE> |
i've given up many things since i got my baby - staying out late at night bc i know i have to wake up at 7 to feed prince and i dont want to over sleep - going out during the day for a long time bc i have to feed prince every 4-6 hours - being lazy about cleaning bc i must vaccum and clean to make sure theres nothing harmful on the floor - wearing expensive clothes around the house bc i always hold prince and sometimes has poop on his butt or when i feed him i get dirty - having a nice size living room bc prince has his xpen right in the middle - blasting music while i get ready to go out or clean - spending $ carelessly bc now it all goes to prince...food,clothes,toys, and vet bills. & all this time in the house gives me even more reason to love yorkietalk :D i wouldnt change any of this for world, prince has made me a more responsible adult and i love him to death :animal-pa |
Let's see... -I have minimize going out or going out for long. -No more sleeping in. -Cleaning more often. -Given up a huge dining area and a room for him. -His clothes and things took up a whole closet. -Buy less of my own stuff just to be able to afford his stuff. -Spend more time cooking for my Yorkie & since I cook for my Yorkie, I do it for my hubby as well. At least it is healthier for everybody. |
I was thinking about starting a thread about how having a dog has changed your attitude... I don't know that I've given up much, but life sure feels different! - I spend a lot more time outside, which I love. - I get more exercise. - I eat better and run more errands on foot. - I'm much more blase about dirt, pee, and other things dogs tend to attract / produce. - I drive more carefully, because I don't want to freak Thor out! - I've realized that parks are for dogs, not people. - I get to see what pure joy looks like every day. I never thought I could be so happy to see Thor's little tongue hanging out of his mouth, or his little tail sticking straight up as he chews a flossie into oblivion. |
Oh, there is definitely one thing I've given up - HOT BREAKFASTS! If Thor smells something cooking, he immediately jumps off my bed and runs to the kitchen. At that point, I have 5 minutes before he relieves himself, so I have to rush to let him out. When I get back... breakfast isn't hot anymore. I've decided it's easier to have cereal. |
Oh, and: l've given up most of the rooms in my apartment. Thor and I are in potty training boot camp right now, so I've moved my entire life to the living room until Thor learns how to use the bell I got for him. |
I dont think Ive given up anything except bed and couch space. I love My yorkies but we still go places and go on vacations. I keep the house clean but did that before them also. I home cook for mine a couple times a week but it doesnt take very much time and I am used to homecooking for my family. |
things I've given up I've given up; coming home to an empty house... watching scary movies alone... not having someone to tell my troubles to (that will never repeat them) not knowing if I have someone that will never leave me (of his own free will) walking alone sleeping alone:dogwalk: and multiple other things I certainly don't miss! I'll take my yorkie anytime! roxanne |
mostly going out for long periods of time. I have given up part of my bed. I have change my sleeping habits( cant move, couse she sleeps on my tommy, sometimes right on my neck under my chin, and some privacy (cant close doors behind her, couse she goes crazy) |
I have given up buying for my closet . Now it goes for mollys closet. But with those big brown eyes looking at me oh she is so worth it. Also part of my chair she just can`t get close enough. Aren`t they just adorable?? |
I would trade all my material things to keep my baby! lol.. Another thing i forgot about was. When I get a bit of extra money, instead of buying something special for myself. I ussually speand it on keely. :p Ahhh, I love my dog. If i started a thread about how much I have GOTTEN from having a dog, I would be here all day writing it out! So, i wont even start. But i will say this. I am no longer depressed (yes I was depressed, Until I got keely.) Nothing heals the heart like puppy kisses! lol |
i don't have people over, phoebe has very high standards to people she likes. i never sleep alone(i enjoy very much) WELL WORTH IT! i love my phoebe |

I agree 100%. I dont think I've given up anything other than bed space. Wait....does the pair of eye glasses she ate the other day count??:eyetearss |
Pretty much just sleeping in. I used to sleep in 'til 10 or 11... now, for some odd reason, I have a Yorkie sitting her little ham butt on my head licking me EVERY MORNING. Love it though!!! |
I've given up half of my bed, and my favorite blanket. It's a wooly blanket, and when the see me take it out they all jump on the bed before I can even get in. |
I'm pretty lucky because I live with my grandparents and they love and spoil Callie almost as much as me so if I need some extra sleep or something they will watch her or if I go to the store or something they will watch her. She really loves to curl up in her little chair next to my grandpa's chair early in the morning and go back to sleep while he is reading his paper. But I normaly dont buy myself that much any more mostly spend all my money on my baby happily. Oh yes room space lol her soft doggy house, her extra large pillow, some bedroom toys and her dresser/closet. |
i haven't given up anything really... chris & my babies get all my time :) & i still get to shop but i look at more puppy stuff now for riley & maddie. we all watch movies and tv together, they lay on the bed with us or play with each other when we're all on the bed. we all take naps/sleep together too! lol i loveeeee my little family :P |
I've given up sleeping in, or sleeping at all for that matter. I can't have normal dogs and just let them outside to run around, no, they find an escape route and sneak to the front door and bark to come back in. I've given up peace and quiet in the house because right now I have four pups and my two adult doggies. I can't travel on a plane, or at all for that matter because I would have to tote around 7 dogs. I won't leave them in the kennel because they hate me when I do that. I am now obsessed for some reason with buying a million different kinds of dog treats, thus have gave up my money.. lol.. I've given up my sanity at times as my friends think I'm crazy for having all these dogs.. ;) Given up new carpet as Lilly refuses to poop outside, instead does it in the basement where we just hand nice, new berber carpet installed. I've given up every fleece blanket in the house plus about 10 more that I've bought here and there for them... Mostly my time is what i've given up. I currently don't work and i don't see how I ever could right now. Getting up at 7 am to let the dogs out, giving pups worming meds for 14 days, putting lillys eye drops in (she decided to get pink eye last weekend), keeping her away from pups until her pink eye goes away, feeding pups, feeding mom, feeding griffen who are all on different foods, not to mention I have four cats. One has UTI problems, one has hairball problems, ones a kitten and the other one just eats everything in sight, thus, they all get different foods as well. Blah, ok i'm rambling.. But I definately have given up alot, but wouldn't change it for the world. Needless to say, its a small zoo around here and keeps you on your toes. :) |
I raised 2 great kids so when I got Roxy I didn't have much to give up....I do keep the house cleaner but where we go she goes. I think I got more back than anything. She made my heart grow !!!!! |
