Yorkies are very smart and amazing dogs, mine doesn't shed, at least I haven't found any hair around. I have a small child and they are best friends. If your looking for a dog that you don't need to walk, perhaps a dog isn't even the right pet for you. Just because your interested in a " toy breed " doesn't mean they are a " toy ". Yorkies are small dogs and need everything a large dog may need also, and that includes WALKS, EXCERISE and time outside. You can train them to go potty on paper indoors but that doesn't mean they don't need to go outside either. Maybe not as much as a larger dog but they DO NEED to go for walks and regular excerise like any other type of dog. :rolleyes: |

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:it's definitely a very good thing! :D |
How old are your children? I wouldn't get a yorkie, because they are very fragile especially when the are young. I also have a small poodle, as does someone else in this thread. Suiki is so smart, and loving. She likes to play a lot, and I think this may be a good alternative for you. |

Thanks :thumbup: |
I cant tell you what to get but I do recommend doing you homework on both your breed choices and the breeder. Like other have already said yorkies dont shed. Good Luck :) |
Yeah, she's full blooded yorkie, but, when you have a white shirt on and hold her, I have little black hairs everywhere |
Thank you for your opinions. I do a lot of reading and research and don't want to make quick decision.Obvious it's a big responsibility to bring any dog but we have to be more careful with toy breed. So again thank you for your help. |
Gucci has not shed one hair since he has been with me, and from everything I have read Yorkies do not shed or shed VERY VERY LITTLE. I would just do a lot of research, I personally don't feel that Yorkies should be in homes with smaller children unless you have the time and dedication to teach them how to handle the puppy and teach them to be VERY CAREFUL around the house as Yorkies are very fragile. If you want a dog you do not have to walk, I'd suggest maybe a cat instead since ALL dogs need exercise whether they are large or small. Good luck in finding the right pet for you and your family! |

WELCOME TO YT!! :) i would definitely say YORKIE, unless you are able to find a yorkipoo that needs to be rescued or re-homed.. if not, i would get a yorkie.. one piece of advice, please research and get your new addition from a reputable breeder (unless of course, you want to adopt/rescue, which is great! :)) but, really doing your homework about the breeder can save you lots of heartache and money, down the road!! ;) :) good luck! :) yorkies are just the best.. for so many reasons!! :wub: |
