Hi all!
 
Hello, Molly and i are new to this site and just wanted to introduce ourselves! She is my first yorkie and just turned a year old Nov. 7. All tips and advice are greatly appreciated! Especially on DENTAL HEALTH?!?!?!?!?!

HI,

We bought a small toothrush as soon as we got Tiki and just let her chew on it to get used to it being in her mouth. After about a week, my husband started brushing her teeth every night before bed. She will not even let the inexpensive toothpaste into her mouth. She prefers the poulty flavor that comes from the pet store at 6 bucks a tube. Thank goodess it lasts a while.

Also we bought those little rope chewies. She loves them and the strings get between her teeth too. Get these things going as soon as possible. My dogs birth mother had to have all of her front teeth on the bottom pulled out. They never brushed, even though they suggested it to us. Well, I read the book about Yorkies too. They got a little 3 pound girl after the last pup from the litter was sold and it is just over 3 years old and it had to have it's front teeh pulled too. I don't want that to happen to our Tiki.

I see you are Mom to a Tiki too! we actually thought it was close to a Hawaiian sounding name. I thought about the tikis at the Place of Refuge on te Big Island too. We wanted something short and cute and it fits her, even though it means "warrior".
We were just on Maui the end of September...my two older sisters, my granddaughter & her Mom. We stayed in Kihei and our two favorite things to do were Maui Ocen Center and that beautiful beach past the old lava flow.

Hello Ash and Molly . Welcome to yorkie Talk. We're a teaching site. Any ??'s you might have one of the wonderful people on thei site will know the answer or how to find the answer!! I use a beef flavored tooth paste and a finger brush when I bathe Baron. He was 1 year old on Nov. 30th. Hugs to you both and enjoy the site....:wavey::welcome4::yorkietal :hug::dogwalk:

We have TONS of threads....so search through those for answers to most of your questions.

For teeth....using some gauze wrapped around your finger is a good way to brush. I like using PetzLife spray and oil also...I have seen great improvement with those products!

you are all too kind, thank you so much!! Working on pictures, i know how you all like them because i am the same way! Pictures really seem to capture the moment with yorkies i love looking at them all too!
