people can be so mean!!! i went onto a korean forum board to inquire about reputable breeders in korea to buy a yorkie because i will be moving to korea for a year in the late summer/early fall. in the post i clearly stated that i am not interested in buying a dog from pet store or the animal hospital because they all come from puppy mills and at the moment i don't want to adopt from a shelter because i dont want the heart ache and have the money for surgeries (knew someone who adopted a dog from a shelter and costed him a lot of money for vets and surgeries because the dog came a puppy mill and wasn't properly cared for as a puppy) but i plan on adopting when i'm older and have a stable career because iw ant to be finacially prepare to take in a shelter dog. people have replied in saying that i'm an "air head" that is going into buying a dog without knowing anything and just want it as a cute accessory or i'm a "loser" who's going to abandon the dog when i leave canada and ive used exact words. WTF? why are people so mean? i mean there are nicer way of putting their thoughts instead of calling me names. li have a yorkie (mickey, who's 13 yrs old) so i know the responbilities and am finacially capable of taking care of a healthy puppy (and plan on setting up a savings account where i would take a small portion of my paycheques just in case the puppy gets really sick for some reason and needs an expensive surgery) i have been doing owning a new yorkie research since april of 2008. am i just overreacting? i feel so hurt by some of the posts that people have posted i wish more people were like yt members |
Ignore them! People sitting behind a computer can and do say all kinds of things they wouldnt say to a persons face. some forums arent very friendly |
I wouldn't let anything some stranger says ...bother you one bit!!! DO what is good for YOU!!! I wouldn't even respond to their ignorance!! Some people just don't have a life! And they wanna share the misery! |
Sorry to hear about your bad experience on the Korean forum. Please provide the link to the forum. Can you purchase a Yorkie in Canada, & bring him/her with you to Korea? What about Mickey? Someone, on one of the other YT forums was recently asking about purchasing a Yorkie in Korea. Here's the link. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...uth-korea.html |
omg! i just got called a stupid bitch because i used the word adpot a new puppy am i wrong? isn't adopting have two me aning? buying a dog and adopting a dog from ashelter? |
i think the approach u started with was probably not of proper form to purchase a yorkie abroad .. those people that treated you in this manner were obviously very concerned about where their pup would go to and what type of life it would have. Did u give those people the reassurance that u were informed on the ownership and responsibilities of ownership.. it sounds confusing to me u have a 13 years old yorkie.. what will happen to him if u go? will he go with u ? will u be in korea for the rest of ur life with the new pup or just a year ..this is possibly why they treated u in this way..were u going to take him with u when u left Korea back to Canada ..and many such questions would worry some responsible breeders and their pups... |

and they still post mean messages to a point i am getting rude pms i have reported all of them as harrasments mickey was my birthday present but he's more of a family dog. so he will be living with my parents just like right now. i'm currently in london for school and my parents won't even let me take mickey for a month. if he was my dog, i would totally take mickeyw ith me to korea but if my parents won't let me even take mickey to london for a month, i highly doubt they'll allow me to take mickey to korea |
Not all forums are as good as YT. It's about 1,000,000 times easier to be rude on the internet than in real life, which I suspect is why some people prefer it. I would close my account there and go another route. You don't need that kind of abuse. |
I agree, if you went to a non specific website that was just about Korea in general, then most folks might not know about dog breeder info let alone Yorkies in particular. It is true that folks treat little dogs like accessories ,but it was not fair for these folks you didn't know to stereo type someone they didn't know. They just took a cheap shot at your expense. So if you are serious about getting a Yorky in Korea, you should ask the question at the AKC or if you are in Canada, the CKC website and ask about talking to someone who would know about a breeder in Korea. They might even be able to tell you about rules and regulations in that country that are dog specific that you might not know about and yet need to know. If you are able to get a hold of a dog breeder in your country who does international showing, they might be able to help you also. They might know someone who knows someone ;) Sadly I am thinking in a stereo type way and wondering if they still eat dogs there?? If there are Yorkies there, most folk who have them would be not your stereotypical working Korean and they may have bought one from outside the country themselves. I hope you intend to bring the dog back with you when you come back home and you will need to know information about brining a dog back into your country and how long they have to stay in quarentine and where that will take place and how much they charge for that too, plus being checked by the government vets and tests and all that stuff ;) That all being said, it may still be very hard to do what you intend to do. I wish you lots of luck in your indeavor! Think this through and be able to answer some hard questions if you are able to get hold of anyone to help you with purchasing a dog in Korea |
There is no reason for such rude posters like this! you do not deserve that! Get out of there, and do not pay attention to them. :thumbdown |

thank you so much for your post! i didnt know ckc and akc can answer questions such as that. i will definately email and ask. and yes, i plan on bringing the new dog back with my when i leave canada. i have looked into this back int he summer. for $250 CDN i can fly the yorkie with me in the cabin. he will need a letter from the vet as well as an official translation if the letter is not in english when i bring him back into canada. the animal vet officers at the pearson airport will do a quick check up and the dog is free to go. there is no quarenteen period because south korea is not on their quarenteen list. i have varified all this information by calling and speaking directly to korean air and pearson airport and the government. |
Try not to let people that you don't even know bring you down. You know you're a good person, and that's all that counts. |
mscat and quicksilver thank you. im trying to figure out how to delete the post as well as my account |
I'm sorry you were treated that way :( People on line can be very mean...I came from another dog board where I was told I had no right to own a yorkie...words do hurt, even from internet strangers. ((hugs)) |
now i am being mocked because i said adopting a dog can mean two things purchasing a dog or adopting a dog from a shelter and this person posts this "sobriquet Joined: 16 Feb 2007 Location: Nakatomi Plaza Posted: Sun Jan 18, 2009 3:36 pm Post subject: I want to adopt a 52in Samsung LCD. I don't want to buy it secondhand or refurbished. Where can I do it?" i'm going to block this site so even if i try to go it won't let me... its hard to avoid it :S |
