Mine is just as clingy and attention-seeking. CONSTANTLY wanting attention, hehe. :P And as for pottying , ugh, I can not get her to potty on her pad for anything. She did for a time when she was younger but even though I now have the pads in several places in the house, she will still go on the carpet. Spring couldn't come soon enough ... I want her to "go" outside again! |
Bailey's clinging to you sounds like his adjusting to the changes of your separating from your ex, how close was he to your ex? and how old is Bailey? Also he is in a new environment and he may also be tuned in to the fact that you may need him. Regarding the crate, it's too large that's why he's using the bathroom in it. It would be best to leave him in a laundry room or bathroom without crating him and leave puppy pads down for him to use along with food water and his bed. Pick up a copy of Before and After Getting Your Puppy by Ian Dunbar he discusses both of your problems, the separation anxiety and cratetraining to avoid using the crate as a bathroom. Good luck!! |
He is scared and confused. He probably feels somewhat abandoned by your ex being gone and he now fears you leaving also. IMO your crate is too big. It should be just big enough to stand up, turn around, lay down, and have food and water and a toy or too. There should be no room in there to pee or poo. Dogs naturally don't want to soil their den. Your crate is a mansion rather than a den. |
well i have 3 girls and they are all different. Tumi is my shadow and follows me everywhere. Tsubi is all about her daddy and only wants me when daddy is not around. Gracie changes between me and my hubby. But we are so blessed that they all love both of us and we can't get enough of their loving..lol |
