Wow..pretty extreme if they are talking about prosecutions! |
I dress Lilly... :D she's usually always wearing clothes unless it's really hot out which would make her even hotter SO I DON'T DO IT. I get enjoyment from it :D and she doesn't seem to mind either. She's MY dog ;), I provide wonderful care for her and she never has to go without anything she needs and is very spoiled with things she doesn't necessarily need . Therefore, I will continue to dress my dog, baby my dog and do whatever I please as long as it isn't TRUTHFULLY harming her. If they come to MY doorstep or step foot near me, telling me that I'm in the wrong by dressing my baby THEN SO BE IT, I'll just tell them what they can kiss :kiss2wm:. |
Oh, God, I don't even know where to start. "But the fashion for pet clothes angers Lynn Williams, founder of dog charity Happy Dogs. " as a founder of dog charity, this is what concerns you, with everything thats going on in this society that would affect the animal world? what about all these foreclosed homes resulted in homeless pets, puppymills, animal cruelty, there are dogs being killed out on the street for human consumption in China. and you are telling me that a dog in boots makes you angry, then all I just mentioned probably should give this Lynn lady a heart attack. yes, I do dress my dog up for fashionable reasons. but that does not equal to I get my dogs because I want to dress them up. we are humans, after all the basic needs are met in life, we'd love to do a little more, to beautify the world around us. its because my girls are family, and I care enough to make them pretty. its the same concept as dressing human babies up, I go overboard on beautifying my son sometimes, but I certainly did not have him so I can make him my fashion accessory, there are lots of commitments that come with, which most parents/pet owners know before hand. and certainly, accessorizing your pets does not mean they would be neglected. the logic is so wrong that someone needs to go back and retake some classes! |

Well, not only do I dress my girls, I just bought them a vintage baby buggy on e-Bay. :) I wonder if they'll try to prosecute me? :D I guess they could convict me on the grounds that I love my girls, too much. ;) |
I too am guilty because if I don't put a sweater on Odie he shivers out of his skin.. he is just too small to be outside without a sweater/coat on him. So okay just throw away the keys and be done with it. :D I will continue to put a sweater/coat on him because it would be cruel not to in my opinion. |
Guilty! How ridiculous! They have to be referring to isolated cases I hope. Seriously in the summer/fall if the temps outside drop below 60 Finnigan starts shivering! I have heard of cases of animals getting injured by getting their clothes caught on door handles, gates, cabinets ....strangling the dogs when they're left unattended, but that could also happen with a collar I would think. Honestly if it were hot out would you be adding layers to your dog? We wouldn't be layering on clothes why would we be putting them on our dogs. People aren't bright sometimes, but prosecution! |
Oh my God. That article is basically saying we are all stupid and act like sheep. The trend came about with the celebrities and their handbag dogs, and they see the trend with people wanting owls as pets because of harry potter. I got my first Yorkie long before they became as popular as they are now. And I know people put clothes on dogs long before pet boutiques started popping up because when I was younger, I met a lady who had two small Yorkies and she put little socks on their feet, and she would put baby shirts on them. I am sure there are people out there who get small dogs just to be trendy and they don't get taken care of. But I know I take damn good care of my dogs and they do get dressed. If they didn't like it then why does Duke go crazy when he sees me with a new shirt for him?!? And he gets excited when I put his clothes on him. Lucie just doesn't care what I put on her. Neither of them don't like hats or pants, so I don't make them wear them, if I did, that would be mean. In the past two months my two dogs and rabbit have gotten more things than me or my husband both have. I would raise hell if someone tried to accuse me of not taking good care of them just because they have clothes. |
omg- that is nuts! I do not put Banjo in any clothes when it is HOT!! |
oooh I want an owl!!!! Well, I think that their intentions/concerns make sense: that some people don't understand they are buying a living being and not a fashion accessory. But they are all wrong in how to approach it. It's really about educating people. You can't really control it through what the dogs are wearing. |
It must have been a slow news day!! |
