no, unfortunately she just works there, there are two vets who jointly own the place and they hired three more vets, and Dolly's vet, is one of them being hired. I already talked to her and she would talk to the owner (which is not the manager I talked to) tomorrow morning.

Are you freakin' KIDDING ME?!?!?!?! Oh. My. God. I would be LIVID. I am livid right now and it's not even my dog!! I haven't read through all the responses but PLEASE tell me you are going to raise hell about this! At least get your money back. Wow. I think my blood pressure just rose 500 points!!

OMG! Poor Dolly! I can't imagine how she feels - she's used to being groomed, not butchered!

I don't know what I'd do in your situation, but I'm afraid it would involve jail!

OMG poor Dolly! I would be absolutely furious! You handled it all a whole lot better than I would have. I hope your vet friend can get something done so it doesn't happen to other fur babies. Can your friend look at the wound to make sure it was/is going to heal okay? Totally unprofessional on all fronts. Poor Dolly:mad:

I am just so mad, she is this tiny little thing, the wound is about 1/2 the length of her leg. and who gave this groomer(not sure if she deserved the title)the right to think its not a big deal, and she did not even have the courtsey to let me know before I found out on my own. I am shocked about the "second time!!!!!!" There is no way on earth I would have taken my dog to that groomer a second time. Even if I lived in a small city, I would have driven anywhere else or I would have done it myself.
I definetly would report the situation to the highest level, and demand all of my money back. (I would not have paid her in the first place.)
I bet Dolly with freak out the next time she goes to get groomed, or to the vet.
Remember, you are her voice. Do not be afraid to speak out!!

I am so sorry about what to your little Dolly. this is so wrong on some many levels! :mad: If I were you i would be , first taking pictures of the injury, the I'd be folling up in a small claims court ! I think what they did is highly unethical and handeled in the most unprofessionl, terrible way ! They can't just do that to your baby, without calling you ! What they said to you was to try to cover their own assess... YES, it is a big deal, and They were wrong for hurting Dolly in the first place, then over stepping their boundaries by giving her the medical treatment without your knowlege. that was done on purpose so you would not know how bad the wound was. Of course it was serious enough for stitches, right? Sayinf that she did not need them, was only to cover their own butts for what the groomer had done. That is so wrong ! That groomer hurting your Yorkie so badly she needed stitches? That is unthinkable .I'd be out for blood if it were my Suzi. :mad:

I had to read your informaiton twice because I could not believe it!! Poor Dolly-I believe I would make an appointment with the vet who has the most stock in the practice and discuss my concerns on how the situtation was handled and your thoughts on how the groomer just dismissed the situtation like it was no big deal!! But you know what it is a BIG DEAL and I would not rest till I let my feelings be known, I would go in with my list of concerns written down from the first "nick" to the last "nick"!! We are the voice for our furbabies!!! Let it Roar!!!!!!!!!

Oh no...I would not take her back either. My male is not great at the groomers she tells me he is in a bad mood some days, but she is so good to him and I can stay and watch any time I want. She has a way of talking to him that calms him ... a good groomer is worth every penny.:animal-pa

I could pretty much "ditto" what everyone else has already said. Please, do take pictures, and consider pursuing this further. I hope your friend, Dolly's vet, can help you, without getting caught in the middle. I'm glad you have the one vet you like so much, but it's too bad she can't move to another practice. I imagine there might be times you would have to make an appointment for Dolly and she won't be there that day, or won't have an opening. Then you might be "stuck" with the vet who, I feel, acted very unprofessionally and unethically today.

We won't even get into how the groomer acted!!!

I know you said you are going to find another groomer. Good! I have to say that when I brought Lexi for her first grooming, I stayed with her, and I was NOT happy with the experience. I found another groomer, who was recommended, and oh my - what a difference! Not only was Lexi nicely groomed, but her behavior overall was improved at home. And now I brush her every single day, without all the biting I had gotten from her in the past. I'm telling you, she would bite the heck out of the brush, or my hand - whatever she could reach - before that.

My point is that not only can a negative experience have negative results, but a positive experience can actually bring positive changes as well. I think you and Dolly both with be much happier with a new groomer.

OMG! :eek: Poor Dolly and poor you! I am so sorry this happened to you! :( I just cannot believe this! This is just so wrong on so many levels! :mad: Please make sure you report them! If they say its not a big deal, can you image that it probably happened to other poor doggies too! I am shocked at this whole situation. The vet had to notify you before any procedure is done. And by not doing so, it raises the questions about his/her practice.

I would be livid!!! I cannot fathom how an experienced groomer could make a cut like that, was she freakin not paying any attention to what she was doing. Sounds like her concern in underwhelming, makes me wonder how many other "accidents" have happened:( I"m also wondering if this is a common occurence since the vets office appears to be so condescending about stitching her up.

i fshe has stitches its a bad cutt a light nick could be treated cleaned or even glued it had to be pretty bad to get stitches its easy to cut the inside thigh if they move the clipper blade isn't very good or they dont hold the skin out straight right there either way the owners should be informed!!

Okay, let me take a deep breath first.
I took Dolly to another vet on the other side of town (actually a lot closer to my house now) that Dolly's old vet recommended, they did an analysis on her wound, and it appeared to them that the wound was about 1 and 1/4 inches long, and she would def. need stitches to heal considering her size and the position of the wound. they told me the fact that they lied about the wound size and not contacting me before serious treatment would def. make a case. they suggested that I should first report this to BBB since the old vet was a member, and BBB will direct me to take appropriate steps if needed. they got her some perscription pain med. which the old vet never thought was needed after stitches!!!

I called and talked to the old vet owner over the phone, I told him about how unprofessional and ignorant the groomer was and how nasty the manager was. Dolly's dress cost more than freaking $35, you will pay many times of 35 if you hurt my girl. I told him about the evidence I gathered, and I will be taking appropriate actions. if he wanted this drama to end sooner, he should get his a** off the chair and do something. I made clear that at this point just money is not enough, I want individual accountability, whoever did this should be responsible. I have an appt. with him tomorrow morning.

and Im not looking for another groomer, I pay the groomer to do the job because I believe he/she could do it better than me, well, I just lost faith in them, I know its unfair to say, but I just can't help it. I just ordered a professional grooming scissor from petedge, I have a clipper, a trimmer, cc brush and comb, etc. and I think I actually do know quite a bit about yorkie grooming to do it myself, I've done this a few times in the past, although slow, but I did ok, DOlly looked just as adorable, and more importantly, she did not have stitches!

I completely understand how you feel right now. It is hard to find a great groomer who is very caring. I was lucky enough to find one after not so pleasant experience with the previous one.

Our dog actually got hurt too at a groomer's, it was really bad!
I got a call from the groomer's saying "you dog jumped off of our table and when we were cutting her hair we cut your dog, it doesn't look bad...we will put this glue on her leg and it should get better within a few days" They made me pay for the groom, When my husband seen this he blew a gasket, it was actually really bad...we took her to the vet....they had to put her under and do surgery and have 6 stitches on her hind leg, we felt bad...so we took the bill to the groomer and had them pay the $400 vet bill, at first they didn't want to pay for it, but my husband had a real nice talk with them and stated if they didn't he would take further actions....I should have def turned them into the BBB. But...come to find out They are no longer in business!

OMG, this is so upsetting. I can't believe it.

OMG. Never take her back! The first time I had keely groomed, the groomer cut her quick. As soon as I stepped in the door she came running out with keely in her arms and had tears in her eyes! She felt soo bad about it and started telling us what happened. She felt ssooo bad. But it was an accident and it was keelys fault because she kicked her foot (GO figure, it was the last nail on the last foot that had to be done:rolleyes:) My groomer didnt want us to pay for the grooming, but we paid her and gave her a 5 dollar extra tip. She seemed more distraught about it then anybody else (And beleive me, i was upset my baby was hurt).

Ok, maybe I should delete this thread. I just don't understand how someone can have their pet injured TWICH from the same person. I recently changed vets because I had a weird feeling about the one Prince was using. Nothing happened, I just had an unfortable feeling.

You are doing the right thing. Go get 'em. For your satisfaction and so someone elses baby is not subjected to this kind of treatment.

from the many thread on this site, I get to learn that being a groomer is not easy. our furkids are animals and actually do things sometimes unexpectedly. and I'd like to give people a benefit of doubt because we are humans and not mistake proof. I believe the best way to motivate people so they can do better in the future is to support them and tell them its ok. but certainly there is a limit, and it only works with people who want to be better. and this in deed, was not the case.

I found out today that this groomer has hurt more babies other than just mine, there have been quite a bit of compaints against her. and the vet owner has decided to let her go. to be honest, I kinda feel bad!

Dolly is doing so much better now, and thanks everyone.
