If you had asked her opinion on the breed, her statement would have been fine, but since you already had a yorkie, and didn't ask her opinion, her statement was way out of line, and only meant to make you feel bad. I would definitely let my vet know what type of person he'd hired. |
While the vet tech may not have meant it...when you're at work..you are responsible for representing your company/business. Therefore, i feel her comment was definitely uncalled for , very unprofessional and worth letting the vet know. |
How rude! I would be so insulted. |
I've thought things over and I plan on mentioning to the new tech how she made me feel when next I visit my vet. (Which is quite often with three dogs). I've cooled down and I don't think she meant to hurt my feelings - she was just stating her opinion. No breed is perfect, I realize that and not everyone cares to own a yorkie. Sometimes we tend to sick our foot in our mouths and I have myself more than once. Yes, it was unprofessional of her but then again SHE is not the vet. I would never leave my vet over this issue. I think too highly of him. To be fair, the tech treated my baby very kindly and gently when we were there. All the other techs in his office are just great so maybe she will learn by example. |
Was this a new vet tech? I do not think it was professional to you. You did not ask her opnion of the Yorkie Breed , and she was out and out rude . You can request that she not be the vet tech for your Yorkie or other animals in the near future. Especially if you like your vet and the rest of the other staff. i have requested a certain vet to look after my Suzi every time we go to a visit. I'd do the same for a tech If someone was rude and unprofessional. |

... And, not only was that comment rude, unprofessional AND UNNECESSARY! Why is this woman working in the vet field, if she doesn't have a love for All pets! None the less, insult them and their owner! I would report her immediately! |
[QUOTE=DogLovingOwner;2400671] Why is this woman working in the vet field, if she doesn't have a love for All pets! QUOTE] Oh dear Lord. The woman simply stated she wouldnt want a yorkie because they are prone to bad knees! Nothing about not loving yorkies or caring about them! I could understand this statement if she had said " I dont like yorkies, Because they have bad knees. In fact, I wish they were banned" |
Technically, I feel as though, that is what she was implying. Because she said I don't take an interest in Yorkshires. |

Good Idea. |
Is it possible for my yorkie to stay black forever? Posted in the wrong place. Lol. I don't know what happened. |

I would not leave a vet over what a tech said. If you trust your vet and you don't like the techs, ignore them. If they are putting your dog in harm's way, report them to the vet. Maybe she just didn't think through what she said. It was uncalled for as it would be in a human doctors office but if you like the dr. enough, it shouldn't make you want to leave... I also don't thinking loving Yorkies or not loving Yorkies has anything to do with a good vet or vet tech. I have no idea if Ellie's vet even likes Yorkies at all but she is good and Ellie is treated like all of her other patients I'm sure. There are breeds that I don't like at all but I don't think that means I shouldn't be able to work with dogs, etc. |
I guess I good come back would have been: Since your are a vet tech I would think you better take interest in all breeds! |
