Very unprofessional and totally uncalled for! When you think of how much we have to pay to each visit to the vets, you should at least get some manners for your money!! |
I always think of things I could have said after the fact. One thing you could have said is that you'd never heard of that before and you'd make sure to inquire about it to the vet as soon as you see him. Then drop the bomb to the vet that his tech said she didn't care for yorkies due to her misunderstanding of the breed. I'd still call and ask to speak to the vet and let him or her know how much it's been bothering you. Let it be known that it hurt your feelings to think she didn't like your baby. If you ever had to leave her there you'd be very uncomfortable to think that your dog would be in that persons care. |
I would say something to your Vet. I am sure the Vet Tech who said it was just not thinking - some people have no filter and forget the old rule of waiting 5 seconds before spewing a dumb remark. I have had my Yorkie for 4 months and I have had so many silly things said to me about my choice of dog breeds. What people forget is we love our pups and really they aren't a yippy and prissy, they are dogs and like a previous poster said I would never make a rude comment about their choice of a pet. My neighbor has an Iguana, I am not an Iguana fan but I always inquire about Iggy. Heck I even fed Iggy once while my neighbor was out of town (I was kind of afraid of him). If you like your Vet, mention it to him and let him tell the Vet Tech to get a filter. I could always borrow Iggy and we could take him in to visit the Vet Tech. |
LOL! She'd probably like the Iguana breed!! |
I dont think it was ignorant? It is true that yorkies sometimes have bad knees. If she had said that yorkie were ugly so she wasnt interested in owning one i could understand it. It was an opinion. And i have a feeling if she had known she hurt your feelings she would have apologized because i do not think it was her intention. we are after all, only human. Im sure all of us have said something that offended somebody but we didnt mean to. I wouldnt personally want a Irish wolfhound because they have a very very short life span (6-8 years) And I am not interested in losing a dog so early. |

So many owners of "Dangerous" (Note the qoutations) Breeds hear these comments everyday. And are offended. But yet so many people wouldnt kick up a fuss over it and stand up for them . Just interesting. |

I can't imagine changing vets over something (somewhat true.. maybe not just worded in the best way) a tech said. |

I would have said "Really, oh that's nice. Thanks for sharing..." and then give her a funny look. Make HER look/feel as stupid as she sounded! Totally uncalled for! |

Doing something like this wouldnt make her any better then the vet tech. I dont see the big deal:confused: It wasnt a lie. And i dont see anything insulting about her comment. Ive seen worse comments made by members. |
although it is true yorkies have bad knees and i understand everyone has their opinions and are entitled to them,i think as a proffesional you should not say something like that to a client. I work in sales and although i deal with some very rude or annoying customers, i understand it is my responsiblity to remain proffesional even in the hardest times. Every breed has some problem or another associated with them. I too would be uncomfortable leaving my baby with them, maybe i am overprotective... |
I just dont understand. I am very protective of my girl. But she said that she didnt want a yorkie because they are known to have bad knees. That doesnt mean they have torture devices in the back room especially built for yorkies! It is NOT right to call her stupid or dumb. When i defended pitts on this very site a few days ago, people were making comments that were very very uncalled for about the breed. And i never called anybody stupid for some of the VERY UNNECISARY comments that were made. And The comments said about pitts were waaaaay worse. And IF i did call anybody stupid or dumb, I would have people jumping down throat. And its sad that the same rules dont apply on the outside world. |
