Question for BIG beautiful Yorkie owners :)

So Mya just keeps growing and growing, and i love it :) she is now 9 lbs! I was wondering, what harnesses do ya'll use?

I am struggling finding one I am completely happy with size wise....I ahve tried the step-in harnesses, now she is wearing a normal over the head harness that is a small (the thicker strap) becasue she grew out of her littler one!

Anyway, it can be from websites etc! Let me know!

Chachi is 11 lbs and I got his at Petsmart but when he needs a new one I am going to get it from Chattiesmom

I use the Guardian Gear two-step harness on my two guys. They come in different sizes & are adjustable.

I ordered from PetEdge.

She's probably in between sizes. Both of mine are, it's so fun

You'll probably want more than one style. I have a basket full. It really depends on how much she pulls. Harness vests are good for non-pullers and for leaving on all day. Step-ins are good but they have to fit right. Chattiesmom can make you a custom one. Sammy has short legs so she doesn't do well with step-ins, she wiggles out of everything which is why the vests are better for her. Loki does fine with nylon harnesses. He is bigger (12lbs) so I like the security of the nylon harness - I use a no-pull style. If you do nylon or custom try to get one that is thick enough to be comfy but not SO thick that the buckles/hardware are too bulky.

Premier makes an over-the-head style with two buckles so you don't have to put the front paw through anything. Those are nice. They have the softest nylon. It's called the "sure-fit" harness.

Hope that helps!

Molly is 14 lbs and i had 3 attempts before i got the right harness.
The one she wears in the car seems big and chunky for such a little dog, but its the one that fitted her properly.
no point me saying that i got mine from jollyes, as i am in the uk, but they were very helpful and didnt mind me changing it!!

We use Puppia Harnesses.
We order from here.

I forgot about the Puppia harness. I like their vest harness. Very nice. They velcro for a good fit and then clip to make them more secure.

You can also try Harnesses for Small Dogs from Golly Gear they have tons of harnesses.

I have a couple on my site too - Gooby step-ins and Doggie Design harness vests.

Can you show me an example of a no pull nylon harness???

:lol tears When I read the subject on this thread, I thought you were referring to us Big Beautiful Yorkie Owners, not to our big beautiful Yorkies.

We use dogo harnesses. They are perfect for in between sized, large and small yorkies! they are the step in type and they cinch down on the back. We also use them as seatbelts in the snoozer carseat.

The Easy Walk harnesses on my site are no-pull. Barkaholics Premier Easy Walk Harness - SALE!

I like that they connect in the front because actually they can peek out of most hoodies (in the front) The front connector basically makes it so that when they pull it moves them to the side, so they are not rewarded for pulling by getting to what they want faster. I've used them on BIG dogs too :)

The first 2 are Loki's easy walk and the last one is his puppia vest harness.

I prefer the step-in harnessess for my two big beautiful yorks. At 13 and 16 lbs they can really pull and the step ins seem to be the safest and easiest to take on/off.

Chattiesmom makes beautiful harnessess and will make them a little wider for our plus size babies. They are fully adjustable, any I've bought can quickly be adjusted to fit either of my two, and have been used for fosters as well.

Target (believe it or not) occasionally has nylon step-in harnessess in the dollar bin. I couldn't believe a harness for a $1, but now we stock up whenever they have them. They've proven very reliable.

My absolute favorite (although not a step-in) is the udogu harness. UDogU These are soooooo easy to get off an on, wash beautifully and wear well for years!

Good luck!

I too love the Puppia harness. I have several pretty prints and I ordered them from their web site. My dogs have very silky hair and do not mat but others on this site order silk harness' for their babies, which is what I would do if my girls matted easily.

I'm not sure if the link I posted before was right! Sorry, this one is!

Fiona is 10.2 lbs, and she has a great harness that I found at Wal-Mart. It was only $9.99, it has extra padding where it goes around her armpits, i'll have to figure out what its called though! its great though!
