How often do you bathe yours? I'm just wondering what the norm is among owners and if twice a week is excessive. |
twice a week sounds a lot to me unless your little one is getting very dirty. I bath Molly every 2 weeks in the winter, and maybe once a week in the summer. if she has been out running on the muddy fields, which she loves, an extra bath is needed!! :aimeeyork |
I bathe Koda and Kacy once a week, Its been a bit cold here so I am just using baby wipes and waiting the two weeks. |
We do bathe our Yorkies once a week and then between baths we do "butt baths". Shelby & Seymour have full coats and sometimes their hair on their behinds need extra washing. We also use pet wipes daily. |
Sunday come rain or shine. I think that twice a week is a bit much and will dry out the skin. Why are you bathing so much? I know smaller pups get to be a bit stinkier that older ones when they are potty training. I would suggest maybe a warm wash cloth during the week if that is the case and a full bath once a week. |
I take him for long walks/runs on a dirt road. Three or more times a week. He loves it. QUOTE=Bizzymammabee;2397684]Sunday come rain or shine. I bathe my little Bella every week in the summer and every week and a half to two weeks in the winter to avoid dry skin. |
Ok then you might want to just rinse him off with no soap or shampoo. That is what really dries out the skin. So a full bath once a week and you can rinse him off or use baby wipes to freshen him up in between. Being that it's a dirt road my guess is you will want to go with the water rinsing. |
I bathe all of mine every week. Sunday mornings is my time with my dogs. They all get bathed, brushed and blowdried. And anything that needs trimming gets trimmed. They are all in full coat. |

I try to give Juicy a bath every week she seems to get into everything and by the end of the week she def needs it. Good thing we live in Florida and its not really cold here. |
Smooch-a-rooni (aka Gucci ) gets a bath once a week. |
I give Bria a bath once a week but we live in Florida..so we don't have to worry about winter! |
Roxy get's a bath once every two weeks, unless she's smelly, then it's weekly. I found every week she's getting better with it, and then I trim and do whatever else at the same time. |
Sunday is pet bath day here too, every week. Then I brush them daily and use a warm wash cloth around eyes, mouth and privates every other day. |
Once a week. :) |
# of times i wash mine 2-3 times a week, i use conditioner everytime, been doing this since i got her last march, no signs of dry skin yet... we have a bigger dog that stays outside and she loves to go out and play with him and roll in the grass. She buries her bones in the yard. It doesn't take long for her to get dirt and grass in her hair, sometimes mud too when the bigger dog knocks his water bowl over, she starts playing in the mud and when my husband waters the grass she gets muddy too lol |
Once a week, rather he likes it or not, hehehe, just kidding, Canyon does well at bathtime. |
I try to hold off until 2 weeks, but it's usually once a week for me. I haven't noticed a problem with dry skin. Maybe you can use an especially gentle shampoo and moisturizing conditioner if you have to bathe more often? |
I bath mine once a week. I wipe their faces alot during the day and use wipes on paws and butt areas when needed, I will also do a "butt bath" if they need it in between regular baths. In the summer I sometimes bath more often because they seem to get messier than usual. |
We give baths every week usually, but only because I am allergic to doggie dander. Yes, non-shedding dogs cause less allergies, but they still have dander. |
I also try to bath Finnigan once every 2 weeks, unless he needs it sooner. We use wipes for his eyes and any other needed areas in between. I used to bath Finnigan several times a week, but it made his "puppy smell" stronger. My vet thought I was making his oil glands go into overdrive from bathing too frequently. I notice if I go back to once a week in the winter Finnigan itches alot more, no flaking/redness of his skin, but its probably drying it out. |
Lexi gets a bath once a week, although it may get stretched to a week and a half or two weeks, on occasion. :) |
Every Sunday since I got her! |
Everyone gets a bath, condition and blowdry on Sunday morning. In between I always wipe their eyes to keep them looking clean. Now if they do something crazy I will give them a bath during the week but that doesn't happen too often. |
friday is bath day, bailee gets trimmed washed and blowdried! |
Once a week they get a bath. But I wash they're face everyday so they don't get stinky face!;) |
usually once a week - week and a half.. but we brush & clean their faces daily.. along with giving butt bathes, etc., when needed, in between! :) |
every two weeks with butt wiping as needed. sometimes sasha keeps a lil sumtin sumtin stuck to her butt so i have to clean it off, but since she's essentially a house dog, everytwo weeks suffices for me. |
every saturday....once a week. face washings daily and wipes in between if we need to. |
