Smokey talks all the time. He goes through a process when he wants to play. First he throws the toy on your lap and puts his paws on it and waits. He looks at you with those sad puppy eyes. We purposely ignore him sometimes to get him to continue. He then will sit down in front of you, with his tail wagging and give a low growl. He'll growl a few more times, then grab the toy again and throw it in your lap again. THEN if you still ignore him, he'll bark. |
I swear Piper trys to say cookie when he comes in from going potty.:) |
Oh YES!!! Pixie does! I have never heard anything like it! she is VERY vocal! and uses a whole range of noises to get my attention..its so funny! I MUST get a video of her doing it! my last yorkie was nowhere near as vocal as she is. She's so demanding there is no way you can ignore her! |
whenever I call Dolly in a firm voice (most likely she got herself in trouble), she would run to get her little pink toy purse that makes a squeaky "i love you" sound. most likely I ended up laughing rather than getting mad. |
YES! when I walk in the door and don't pet him right away he scratches my feet and makes "yawning" noises. He'll press a sqeaky toy on my leg to get me to play. He'll bark at me if I'm watching TV and he wants to go out. When I say its cold outside, he angles his head in a "confused" kind of look. He's funny. :) |
Yes, Lulu tries to talk too. She makes these little grunting noises when we are talking like she is trying to get into the conversation too. It is the funniest thing. |
Fiona is a big, big talker! I think she is a pig sometimes! |
:D My Jack talks to me too! He is just too cute when he's trying to tell me something. I absolutely love it!:animal-pa |
Molly does..she makes all kinds of strange noises in the back of her throat when she is trying to tell me something. |

Good Luck, can't wait to see them. |
Mine talk. Mostly Mo though. He lets me know when he has to go out by a certain way he "talks" . The funny thing is one day he had just been outside and laid down for a few minutes. I was at my mac and he was "talking" again like he had to go out-very persistently I might add. I finally said "go lay down" and he did. The funny part is a few minutes later he was back at it but this time I noticed he was actually whispering! LOL it was so funny. You had to be there I guess but it was a hoot. He has done it several times since--usually after I have told him to go lay down. |
Tricksie really talks when my husband is trying to talk to me, she is so jealous. |

Since Roxie has a hard enough time getting sound out when she barks she looks at me with these eyes and I pretty much know what she wants by the different looks now. Sometimes it's like having a kid who can hear but can't talk. They still find ways to communicate what they want. When we go to bed she snuggles up next to me on her back and her head on my pillow. She falls asleep to me rubbing her tummy. But she makes these whimpering noises as if she's so relaxed and comfortable. |
my dog hums her emotions Gypsy does too! That is so funny that there are other dogs out there! She hums a lot when she is happy--especially when she is curled up with us in bed at night. Last night she was really scared (for the first time--long story: my husband was playing "find my hand under the blanket" and for some reason she thought it was a very unnatural invisable dog and decided she was terrified) anyways, she started "humming" as sad song. So strange! |
