I tend to lean towards human names. My dogs are Chloe & Sydney. My sons have a hampster they named Ninja. |
I always prefer human names I like to give my dogs somewhat unique, classy names. I don't particularly care for silly names. I had two Dobermans: Natasha and Nikea. Two Pit Bulls: Gracie and Axl. One Miniature Pinscher: MacKenzie. |
very interesting.. we have our baby girls, Avery & Gemma :heart to at my mom's there is Lexi & Haley. my dad's dogs are Rasta & Muscles. growing up, we had: Star, Sky, Lady, Molly, Madison, Tonka. |
I prefer human name...preferably English sounding. Spencer and Winston... |
for me it really depends on their looks and personalities. I've had four dogs so far: Shorty, Rainer, Dolly and Chipper. Rainer and Dolly are the yorkies, and both of them are quiet, calm, well, girlie girls, so I gave them girlie names. Shorty is my gal chi, but she is the townboy type, and Chipper is the only boy that I've had so far, and oh boy, don't I know the difference! |
We've had a nice variety of both in my family. But its always a discussion and a debate between family members to get to a final name. We've had-- Isis Oats P.C. (perfectly cooked, named so for his nice golden brown color:rolleyes:) Angel Tuffy Theadora (Teddy) Mason Morgen Candy Cane Piggly and currently Walker McLovin Hill |
Mine have been: Pepper, Dobie, Susie, Muffin, Jasper, Scooter and Bailey. Some of them I named and some were named by my daughter. Since she has married hers have been: Clyde, Lucky, Pepper, Cotton, Poochie, Sally and Saba. |
I like Earth names like of course my lil Canyon, but I like River and Aspen but I like Journey and Jordan too. |
I tend to name my puppies human names. I Have a thing for last names too, even with my children.. Mason.. son #1 Kennedy.. son #2 Lincoln.. son #3 Garrett.. son #4 Jeter.. Yorkie #1 Axl.. Yorkie #2 Yumi Yasha.. Yorkie #3 ( and only girl ) |
My pets have had a mix of names... Dogs: Amber(golden retriever), Lucy(yellow lab), Daisy (yorkie), and a new yorkie next month will be Hamlet Cats:LC (we found him, and his name stands for lost cat), Elroy (Himalayan) Morgan Horses: Their barn names have been Tyson and Cameo I also had a bunch of fish that wee never named and two leopard geckos who I called Greg and Garry. |

Thinking back on it all, most of them seem to have more human names than anything. Current yorkie - Deegan (named after a mx rider) German Shepard - Zena Shelties - Elly, Tai & Mickey My mom liked "thing" type names: German Shepard - Sassy Mixed breed - Sugar Mixed breed - Biscuit |
We are big Jimmy Buffett fans.....thus Lil Mis Magic, Sailor and Captain Tony (AKC name - Ch Last Mango in Paris). So does that put me in the "things" category instead of "people"? |
My pets have a mix of human and thing names I think, but most of my animals now have human names. At least the dogs and cats anyway... Past pets - Golden retrievers: Bella and Vito Beagles: Rebel and Lucky Collie: Barney Husky: Ghost Chow mix: Rosie Cocker Spaniel: Snickers Cattle Dog: Bullitt Tortoiseshell Tabby: Jasmine Gray Tabby: Aladdin Black Hamster: Grimm Current pets - Yorkie: Ollie (Oliver) Calico: Samantha Goldfish: Digger, J, Silent Bob, Twitch Siamese fighting fish: Sushi |
My two dogs have human names, Jordan & Garrett (we didn't name Jordan, the breeder did, but we like it just fine!). Since I had to leave both of my dogs with my family when I moved out (they're family dogs and I moved out of state), I plan on getting my own yorkie soon, and he will be named Frank. :) I don't know why I prefer human names to things names, but I think it's funny to see this cute little dog with a dignified old man name. |
