Your dog and spouse? Just wondering if your dog(s) ever cause you and your spouse arguments? Has he ever mentioned he didn't want the dog(s) any more? Stormy is really attached to me. We have a very strong bond. My fiancee doesn't understand that and wants her to like him too but she won't bond with anyone else too much. We have gotten into a fight about it before and their relationship isn't getting any better so just seeing if maybe I'm not the only one lol |
Heck no! My hubby knows he wouldn't have a chance! LoL! The only fights we have over her is who's dog she is. He's trying to win her over but it's not working HaHa! |

Jer knows she is my baby and is happy to see she makes me happy. :) I debated for a while before I got her, pretty much almost two years, so he was prepared for her. He calls her the princess and she knows it. When Jer won't wake up in the morning, her wet kisses do the job. She fits right in. :) |
Our situation may be unique, but it shows that it's possible for your dog to bond with both of you. Eddie is my wife's dog. It was her decision to get him. He sleeps with her. When we're both watching TV, he sits with her. She's the nurturer when he needs some loving. He knows he's her dog. I'm the feeder/walker/trainer/play buddy. I'm closer to him than I've ever been to another dog. He waits up for me to get off work at 1 a.m., then he goes to sleep with his mama. It didn't happen over night. We've worked at it. But there's absolutely no jealousy. We both get want we want out of him, and he benefits from two people who care for him. I honestly think the dog can adapt if the humans can. |

My fella "pretends" to not like the dogs!LOL! Everytime someone comes to visit he offers them a dog or two:rolleyes:He's only kidding he knows theres no chance I'd let any of them go, but having said that he's not as close to them as I am. He sees all of the dogs as mine although one of the dogs (our staff Nikki) sees herself as his dog:rolleyes:We do get into rows now and then over them and mostly he only tolerates them because he knows he has no choice but occasionally I see his softer side (usually when he thinks I'm not paying attention:rolleyes:)) so I know he likes them a little bit (secretly). He'll give them leftover meat from his dinner, play a little with them or give them a pat absent mindedly:rolleyes: I think I need to let him choose the next dog we get (though not until one of mine passes naturally of VERY,VERY,VERY OLD age:p)maybe then he will more involved. |
Never. Each of ours looks to both of us for all their needs. We never had three nor two, only one at a time for an indoor pet. Years ago, it was Jack's idea after our silky passed (almost 13 years we had her) several years went by and one day he said I think we need to get another, so Cassie came into our lives. We learnt so much through her, we were both closer to her than any other we ever had. We both still tear up when we talk about her and believe me that is often. Their forever a part of us. I never thought we would have two without alone three and must add we couldn't be more delighted. Now we both agree if we was to start thinking on getting another it would have to be called Nomora :) three is perfect number for us :) I think our situation is a lot like Mike and Kelly's our girls have bonded so much to both of us and we have together to them. |
My husband and I have never fought over Walker, but we're not real fighters either. We have like our two minute outbursts, a few hours where we don't talk, and then we apologize (both of us) for being idiots and figure out why we were fighting. It works for us. Walker is my companion. My husband works long hours and even on his days off ends up going in 9 times out of 10. Walker likes his daddy, but I'm the one that he listens to and daddy's more a play buddy and someone to lick. I think if dh spent more time feeding Walker and walking him and training him, then Walker would bond with him a lot more, but Walker is a lover. Good luck! |
At first we had a problem with Keegan bonding with Daddy. How did we resolve it? I feed the boys in the morning, Daddy ALWAYS feeds them at night & walks them alternating with me. Daddy also teaches him tricks, that gives them time together & Keegan respects him. Fast forward 7 years...Keegan is definately my dog but he loves Daddy. |
My hubby says dogs are a PITA, but, since we have them you take the best care of them that you can. He loves dogs, just wishes he didn't have any so when we want to go on vacations, we could just lock the house up and go(can't do that anymore), but, he's the one that let me get my biewer pup as a Christmas present from him..;) |
I guess I guess you need another Yorkie to bond with him. LOL In our house Bella is bonded with all of us. She sleeps with my daughter (the mommy), sits on my (grammy the feeder) lap or right next to me on the couch, or when she bored sitting next to me or I am not sitting on the couch she goes onto my husbands (grampy the walker) lap. And we always find her up in my sons room playing with him.:aimeeyork |
NEVER We have four flluffs and are adding another female maltese to our "pack" on Friday that is almost two years old! We'll see who this new gal adopts but for the present pack, Toby is MY yorkie boy!! He loves his mommy. He loves his daddy but he is almost always next to me and stays with me. Brandy our three year old Maltese rescue is 100% a daddy's girl..........no doubt about it, she favors him and is by his side from when he wakes up until he leaves for work and when he gets home from work, she glues herself to him until bedtime and of course, she sleeps next to him at night. Now Buffy is sort of leaning towards being a mommy's girl but we have only had her five months so she is still trying to figure it out. Kallie we have had the longest and she loves us both equal and gives us each our time with her. But hubby loves the fluffs as much as I do!!!! And he is very supportive of having FIVE!! But I think we both are laying our foot down and this little girl coming on Friday will be our last one. UNLESS of course......well, for now, this is it! |
Hubby is jealous of me and cutie's bond. She does everything with me. Will sleep with me, cuddle with me, will get in between me and hubby to lay with me and is always in my lap 24/7 or being carried around like the little princess she is. Hubby doesnt understand that she came way before him and I know she will stick around :P lol! but yea there are arguements about my lil girl but I always stick up for her and tell him he is out of line thinking he can get jealous over cutie |
My hubby kinda spoils me, mama gets what she wants or daddy gets no dinner! He SWEARS he hates animals.... then why does he throw the toys and talk like that to Sophie, and why does he buy new chew toys for Zoe so she doesn't feel left out, and why do all the stray neighborhood cats get dewormed, fed etc at my house (thats not me). It took him a while, we have been together for 7 years and he originally hated little dogs, and the first few days we got our sophie (Nov 1st of this year is when we brought her home) he surprised me for my birthday and he said shes your dog I am not doing anything for that little sharkey! Now she greats him at the door more than me, they have grown to like eachother, even though he says he doesnt like her (as he is petting her in his lap) I think it just takes time and patience. Just ask him to try a little harder for you, and see if there is anything you can work on getting better at for him, that way you each are working toward something to make the other happy and better the relationship.... may work or I may be crazy! :D |
