1lb 6oz... Hi. I know somewhere there is a table to reference the weight of your Yorkie to see how big he or she may be full grown.. I just can't find it:rolleyes:. Any help out there? My new baby was seen by the vet yesterday (she is still with the breeder until the 24th) and she weighed in at 1lb 4oz at 8 weeks old. (she was born October 19th).:D Any idea what she could possibly weigh full grown? Thanks!! Jillian |

here is a chart that i found..but you can't really go by the chart either. when we got my baby Tumi, i was told by the breeder and also according to the chart she will be between 5-6lb. But she never grew beyond 3.5lb and she is almost 2yr old. Yorkshire Terrier - Yorkie Puppy Growth/Weight Chart - watch us grow |
She will be about 4 lbs |
3 1/2 to 4 lbs. although, a lot of times, they're right on, sometimes they're off by a few pounds. I have one that was way off, the other ones were pretty much accurate with the charts |
The chart can be found at Yorkshire Terrier - Yorkie Puppy Growth/Weight Chart - watch us grow. her being 1 pound 4 ounces puts her at 20 ounces, so going with the chart she looks to be going with 3.5 to 4 pounds full grown. |
Thanks everyone!! I am guessing from the chart and the average answer my new baby girly will be around 4lbs to 4.5lbs. But should I be worried about my Alfie getting her?? Alfie is about 9lbs... Do any of you have more than one Yorkie or experience with having two, one very little, one big and how they handle each other? My husband is worried as I am that Alfie may hurt her while playing?? Any suggestions? I am guessing at 4lbs she will be more sturdy but 1 to 2lbs makes me nervous. :( |

Alfie is very protective of his toys so I was thinking he may not like sharing and even be a little jealous. With other dogs (and all have been bigger than him) he lays down and gives them the floor, never aggresive at all. I hope he is more protective like she is his little baby more than anything... As far as the couch and bed, I was worried about that too, Alfie can jump up onto anything and down from as well... We always say he must be part Cat..LOL  But with our new little one, she will need help - I am going to look into buying some stairs, but do you think she may take after Alfie and try to jump off things? Marcel does *not* follow Wylie in jumping off the bed or sofa - he somehow learned/knows his height limits and always uses his little stairs. I got the $10 stairs at Walgreens. :) |
New Baby Hi Jillian, Might sound crazy but what we used for both Willow & Jake (at night) when they first came home was a "Co-sleeper"....used for infants...you may even have one!:D We didn't keep it attached to the bed but set it up next to the bed. We actually kept the pup in the lower zippered part (vented) with a tiny cat bed, blanket, pee pad, little bowl of water and kibble. That way one of us was right there if they cried. Even though we have stairs to the bed, they are too little at that age to climb them and we wanted them close by. If Alfie sleeps with you now, he will see that Evie has her own place to sleep, he won't feel "pushed aside"....and believe me, the time will come when Evie will let you know that she is a big girl too and the Co-sleeper will be put away...which reminds me...if you think you could use it, let me know.....:) |
