| ![]() Hello everyone. I just recently adopted a 7yr old 5lb yorkie. She is the love of my life! This is the first time I have ever own a yorkie and I am so glad I got her. She was used as a breeder and when she was no longer able to breed her owner neglected her. She was mainly kept in a crate all day and night. As a result of the neglect, she lost most of her teeth and had to get all of her hair shaved off (don't worry, her hair is growing back beautifully). Now that she is all cleaned up and has a perfect bill of health, her personality is really beginning to shine. Unfortunately, I do work all day so I have to keep her in a crate (at least until she is house trained)while I am at work. But when I am home, I never put her in her crate. However, my little one is a lot more intelligent then I thought. She knows how to get out of her crate ![]() I used to put her in the powder room with potty pads but by the time I got home, there was more dog poop smeared everywhere! She would step in it and smeared all over the walls and floors. This the reason I put her back in her crate. I got tired of coming home from work and cleaning her, and the bathroom. Any suggestions on how I can housetrained her? She will go outside when I am there to take her out and never has an accident in the house when I am there. It's when I am at work is where the problem is. How can I get her to use the potty pads so that I don't have to lock her up all day. A babygate is out of the question as she is the great escape artist. She will just climb right over it. I just want her to go to her potty pads consistently. Thanks |

| ![]() Congratulations on your new baby. You did a wonderful thing in rescueing her. These Yorkies are the smartest little stinker's ever. I bet she's beautiful. How about putting a gate across your kitchen and putting peepads down while your gone. Just a thought. I wish you many years of happiness with your girl. Oh, by the way, if I ever get brave enough to get a sister for Buddy her name will be Brandi. I always loved that name. Welcome to YT. |

| ![]() My "Grand-dog" escaped from her baby gate too. She'd climb right over it, but my husband fixed it....he put plexi-glass & zip tied it to the inside of her gate so now she can't climb over it! Worked like a charm. You can also buy "clear" baby gates but we had one & didn't want to buy another one. Hope that helps |

That's a great ideal, I will have to try that. I love my little Brandi.....she is so funny to watch. Even though she is 7 yrs old, I feel like I have a puppy, probably because of her size. Anyway I am going to try the plexi glass and see if that works. Other then the house training, she is the perfect pet. Even my cat doesn't mind her and my cat hates everyone. ![]() I have plenty of pictures of her but I haven't figured out how to upload them. As soon as I do, I will post my pics. | |

| ![]() Welcome and congratulations on rescuing this little girl. It will be going back and starting from scratch just like if you had a puppy. It's also going to take longer to house train since your not home during the day, but just be very patient and sooner or later it will happen. Hope to meet her real soon.

| ![]() Thanks everyone. I've attached a before and after picture to give you an ideal of what she looked like before she had all her hair cut off. It was so matted that shaving all of it off was all they could do. She is the cutest little thing. My coworkers call her Yoda from Star Wars because of her ears...lol. Poor thing....my little toothless, hairless wonder. Good news is that she is healthy and her hair is growing back wonderfully. By the summer time she is going to be gorgegous (did I spell that right?). |

| ![]() Congratulations!!! Brandi's story sounds a lot like Olivia's; I adopted her 2 months ago, she was a breeder too and just turned 8 yrs. old. I wonder how she is getting out of her crate??? Is she able to pry the door open enough to be able to squeeze through? ![]() Your little Brandi is so precious! It warms my heart to see her all safe, warm and snuggly in her soft bed...I bet she is loving her new life as a beloved pet! Bless your heart for rescuing and making a difference in her life. ![]()
