What clues tip your Yorkie off to an unpleasant task? I snapped the top off some new doggy toothpaste tonight, a flavor that Eddie doesn't like, and I could hear his feet sprinting down the hall even before the gel hit the brush. He hid under the bed. This morning I reached for the booties, and Jack raced for his doggie bed and curled up as tightly and securely as he could, refusing to budge. He hates wearing booties, and he doesn't particularly like walks when the temperature is in the single digits. Am I the only one with Yorkies who run for their lives when they are tipped off about an unpleasant task coming their way? And if not, what tips them off? |
When Chachi hears me run the water in the sink then go get Jewels he runs and hides because he knows hes next for a bath |
We were trying to figure that out. It's almost like they can read your mind! I wish I could get them to pick out my lotto numbers! |

When Walker hears the drawer in the hall close he runs for his life because he knows I went for the baby wipes to make a valiant effort to wipe off his face. He HATES it and will do his darndest to avoid being seen at that moment. He makes it as difficult as humanly possible to get him clean. Most of the time he wins and gets to be dirty for a little longer.:) |
Tila takes off when she see's me with her brush or when she see's me grabbing a bow or anything for her hair. She's runs away when she hears or see's me going for a wipe. She also run's away from me to hide when she see's me with a tape measure. lol. I was measuring her for a dress the other night. And she run's away when she see's me with a article of her clothing. So apparently she thinks every thing is unpleasant. I don't know why. I think she just likes to give me a hard time. |
With Roxy, all she has to do is see me with a towel, her pj's(she thinks she's being punished when she has to wear them) or any little tube of anything(even tho I quit using flea meds on her because of her bad reactions to them). She does the fastest disappearing act I've ever seen. She's there, then POOF, she's not:rolleyes:. With Remi - he's so laid back he doesn't care. As long as somebody is going to hold him, he's happy:). He's my little "whatever" guy. |
Getting totally naked by removing collars...means bath time is coming. |
Reasons to run around like crazy and then try to hide: Momma gathering up towels, Momma moving the grooming table into the bathroom, Momma snapping open the lid on the PetzLife or tube of toothpaste. Reasons to run around like crazy and jump all over Momma: Momma opening a package or box of absolutely anything, Momma even glancing at the leash rack, Momma peeking out the front window and then walking towards the door. |

I hope ya'll keep this thread going today - it will be fun to read! |
Mine run and hide as soon as I walk out of the sewing room! God forbid I have something in my hands to try on them. When I get a towel Cody starts to shake. When I get the brush out, they all snuggle down into there bed or blankets and I guess they think "if I can't see her, she can't see me". |
Funny!:p & soooo True! Glad you started this topic!:) I try to sneak her shampoo from the cabinet.......then I try to again "sneak" her special towel. Out of the corner of my eye..........she's watching intensely:eek:.......before I even turn around to head to the bathroom, she's in her favorite "hiding place (under the sofa)"!!:p Now that's the only thing she's just not tooooo smart about?:D If she steals socks or anything she's not suppose to have........& you hear 4 little paws running for the hideaway, you can always find her there!!:grin2::2hearts2: |
When i wake up in the morning as soon as he hears me sitting up he wakes up stretches and when i walk to the bathroom he's right there next to me. When i go to take a shower and put one foot in the tub he does a little bark as i am putting the second foot in. Once he sees me putting his yogurt in this little cup he has this little tent i got at target 2yrs ago he goes inside it and waits for me there. Once he sees me getting dressed once i have my pants on he goes to the living room and lays down right in front of the door untill i come out to the living room to get my coat. He's so funny it's like he knows im leaving and says i will wait right here for her! Our babies are smart little one's:aimeeyork |
Mine usually just freezes and gives me that "please no" look when it's time for a bath or brushing or putting on the sweater... but she usually runs for the hills when I bring out the nail clippers. Unless I have a chew bone.. then she's more interested with it than the clippers :teeth: |
When I reach for the BLUE towel Bud is gone! I thought dogs do not see color. How does he know it's blue and his and bath time is here? Also when I reach for his sweater he sprints down the hall and goes under the bed. This happens 4x daily and it's only Dec 2nd!:( |
Fun thread!! Ranger runs for the hills when I get the towels out of the guest bathroom linen closet- means bathtime. He also slinks away super slowly and stealth-like to hide under the chair in the morning when I put on my shoes (only my heels, if it is tennies it's a completely different story!!) because he know's he has to go in his crate. Ryder could care less about anything and is always smack dab on my heels. :p |
When I turn the faucet on, there is silence....Is it for them or is it for me? We wait patiently until I grab their facecloth and they do a disappearing act ! Soooooo funny ! |
Our baby's really act like they're being tortured don't they! If she sees me get her coat she runs and hides on the ramp. Same thing with her harness I don't think she likes it going over her head. And if she sees me grab the bag of rubberbands for her hair she hides in her bed. Once she has some clothes or harness on she runs and hides in her crate. Sigh, I hope she gets used to this soon. |
:DThis is too funny! In our house as soon as they see me gathering up the towels, blow dryer and god forbid, the CLIPPERS! They go into hiding!!:D Oliver also watches....if he sees me putting something on Brooklyn, like a sweater or some pretty anything! He heads for the hills....even more so if he sees me pick up my Camera!! Oh but, if you want them to come quick around here....just pick up a Banana!! They love em!!!:D |
Jewels also runs when she hears me bringing out the tape measure |
My husband usually bathes Edie. When he says "Come here, Stinky!" she knows it is bath time, which she HATES. :p |
I just say , BAFF" and they all run. Then again, "I just say "who wants" and they all run back to me (they think I am going to say "a treat") |
Chip loves going outside and going for walks, but he HATES having a harness put on. As soon as I pull it out he'll act like he's coming toward me, then as soon as I go to grab for him, he runs under the night stand. Does the same thing with shirts and jackets. I have to catch him first, THEN go get the harness/shirt. Smokey is really easy going. When he had his long hair though, it would get really matted and he would run from me when I had the brush. Now that his hair is short, he runs to me. Well, then again, he does go into hiding when I bring out the hair dryer for him or when we vaccuum or use the spot bot... he doesn't like loud noises like that. |
I just have to head in the general direction of the drawer that their hair brush is kept and all three do the disappearing act, or we play 'merry go round' around the dining room table, they will go in the opposite direction from where I am, around and around until hubby comes to the rescue and grabs the first one he lays his hands on. Then the other 2 are gone from site for about 1 hour or so, then they'll peak back in to see if I've given up on them. But No, no such luck, :)Mom is always a patient sole and gets all of them. LOL |
Pao will run off when he sees the harness but he'll run and sit near the front door so he is pretty easy to catch. He'll run to his bed when I get his toothpaste not sure if he is getting ready for me to brush or just thinks that he is doing a dissapearing act. He'll definitely run for his life when he sees the ear cleaning bottle. I put his ear cleaning bottle in different places in the house so he has to see it before he runs...before, I always put it in the same place..even before I got to the bottle, he has already dissapeared  |
Not sure how, but when I start getting bath supplies out by the sink, mine always seem to know what fate lies ahead and they scatter and hide... Generally, they are so underfoot in the kitchen waiting for a morsel to hit that ground that it's ridiculous. |
You can not even look at the backdoor without Mac being there with his nose pressed against it ready to bolt out..I cant even sneak out he can hear the door knob or something...Except at 8AM weekdays when he knows I'm leaving for work he gets on the couch at about 10 till 8 and sits there till I say see ya later, be a good boy..then he curls up and goes to sleep..Even if I forget stuff and have to come back in and out he doesn't budge..then at 3:00 he is at the window waiting when I pull up...dont know how he knows its 3:00 but he is there everyday...at bout 10 till 6pm when dad is due home he will run to the window and wait even if dad runs late he sits until he can see the truck pulling up then runs to greet him at the door....I think he knows how to tell time...really...:D |
yep, kinnys runs for the hills too when the harness comes out even though she loves her walks and car rides, ive even got a softer harness but alas she still goesall stiff when we do catch her !!lol |
Pixie runs as soon as she sees a babywipe in my hand!:p she will also scarper when she hears the chinking of her harness.. |
Poor Alfie starts to shake when I go for the towels and start getting all his stuff for bathtime!!:eek:Lottie hates going outside 1 st thing:eek: in the morning she goes in her bed and tries to hide. |
