1 floppy ear , and the other one stands up. I really want them to match. Is it okay to tape the one floopy ear? How long should I tape it for. Btw, she is teething right now. She is 16weeks old. I have seen the floopy ear stand up once or twice since we got her at 10 weeks. Thanks! |

I'd almost bet that they both will stand up and match just fine even if you do nothing. It is perfectly normal for ears to go up & down during teething. My Tiki's ears (which are on the large side) didn't both stand up until 5 or 6 months. She looked pretty funny during some of the transitions. |

My Squirt's ears were both down when I got him. The vet told me that they would never stand up since there was no cartiledge. I accepted it. Then, after about 6 weeks one stood up. Then, about a month or two later the second stood up. I did not tape. It happened naturally. I don't remember how old Squirt was when I got him, but he was about 4 or 5 months old. So, it can happen without taping. |

As far as taping, I never did, but there was a thread here about using Dr. Scholls moleskin tape, I'll try to post the link here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ternative.html Ok, can we see pictures of your puppy now, pleeeeaaaazzze? |
3 Attachment(s) Aww, that is exactly how Ralphie's ears were when we 1st brought him home. He had one up and one down. My bf loved it and was soo sad when he finally put the other ear up. One day I looked at him and that ear was just standing up perfect. I guess he just woke up and decided it was time to be a big boy :p:p I am sure that your babies ear will go up, it didn't take Ralphie very long. The 1st 2 pics are when we 1st held him and his little ear was still down. The last one was only a few weeks later and both ears were straight up... |
I have a german shepherd that has one floppy ear, but, that makes her unique;) I just bought a biewer, her ears are tiny, and they were going up and down, she's almost 6 mos. I've seen hers up very erect, but, between teething and just coming here 1 1/2 weeks ago, they have been going up and down, so I have them taped, but, she would cry when I would take the tape off. So, did it differently this time, I will leave it on for 4 days, then take it off, it it droops again then retape for 24 hours, and keep doing that until it's up.. |
Jewels had one ear up and one down. I didnt tape and it ended up going up on its own |

2 Attachment(s) Our girl Kandi has one ear that goes up and down for no discernable reason. Sometimes I think it's her mood and sometimes I think she has no conscious control of it. She's also teething, so who knows? Personally, since she's our loving pet and not a show dog, I'm fine with it. I think she's beautiful no matter what! :) It's cute! ;) |

1 Attachment(s) Mine is 7 months old. Her ears stood up by 4 months with me doing nothing except keeping the hair trimmed. Then she started teething and one ear went down. Its still down now after 2 months. Im guessing its going to stay that way. Its cute though. |

All of these pups are adorable. :D |
Hmm...My izzy is almost 1 year and her ears are floppy. I wanted them to stand because they were standing when I first got her. I havent had them shaved yet cause I was kinda nervous about it. If I get them shaved will she still have a chance to have upright ears? |

I just love the one ear up, one ear down look - it's so cute! Both of Nikko's ears are up though, and I think that's cute too... he looks half rabbit. :-) Lauren & Nikko |
When I first got Keoki at 6 months both of his ears were up but now at 1 year he has one up and one down and thats the way they are staying. It bothered me at first but now I love it- It is who he is :) |
personally, i like the floppy ears :) |
"wing ears" I have been trying to tape my yorkies ears for a few weeks. they were flopped over nicely and now after taping them a few times they will stand for a few hours but now when they fall.....they fall off to the side of the head. i get a good laugh about it but just want them to flop normal again??? Is this a problem for anyone else??? |
My izzaboo's ears never stood again. :( I didnt tape them because I waited too late. I got her at six months and it wasnt until she turned one that I realized I should have kept them tipped, and taped. So...she has floppy ears. Sometimes she will raise them but mostly theyre floppy...and I dont mind...shes adorable.:animal36 |
I got a Biewer last Friday. Her name is Sophie and she is 8 weeks old. Her ears are showing NO sign to come up any time soon but when I go to breeders pages, all those puppies have their ears up. I wonder if I should tape them and where can I find the best Taping method. I also have a Westie (5 years old) her ears were up and strong since she was like 6 weeks old. Any advice? |
Cali was the same way, and then one day they just perked up with no intervention. I'm sure your pup's ears will do the same! |
Some times no matter how hard you try and no matter what you do their ears just do not stand. Some times its due to the thickness of the ears (ear leather). Other times its just because the hair on the ears is too think and the cartilage in the ears isn't strong enough. This happens in all types but mostly cotton coated Yorkies. I much prefer to keep them shaved. Its just easier and plus the hair grows back. :) |
Cooper's ears get floppy in between getting groomed!!! His ears stand up fine once he gets groomed, but as soon as his hair starts growing back right back down they go hahah! |
Well of all the things Sunni has had to overcome, her ears standing isn't one of them, lol…being extra big is another story:) someone just recently posted what sounded like a brilliant idea to me if you decided to tape the ears. She cut pieces of cardboard from cereal boxes to fit the size of the ears and then used false eyelash glue to adhere to the ears. She said it didn't bother the puppy at all. I do think floppy ears are really cute in any case. I don't remember if she said she trimmed the ears first or not. |
