Thank you, I didnt think that was right! when I told him I did not want her to get those shots he already had the needle ready and told me the breeder was wrong and she needed those shots, but never said that was what he was giving her! once I got home i was pretty P'ed off. but im defiantly not bringing her back there. Thank you for explaining that to me. I had no idea how that worked!!

Just to clarify most vets give a multishot that includes everything except the rabies. The only time I've heard of problems is when they include the rabies shot with the final series. As far as combining shots, I think this is the best solution if it's safe, who wants to get multiple injection, if its not needed. It's the rabies shot that needs to be given separately and on a different day. I do think it's important to find a vet you trust, you need to rely on him as your final decision not the forum. You never know when you might get incorrect information or some other misunderstanding might occur. Find a vet you trust. I'm not so sure your vet did the wrong thing, by the way.

Her vet gave a vaccine after she said not to. That, I believe, is against the law. When given combo shots you have to be very careful because if the dog reacts, which one did the dog react to?

What vaccines a dog should get is between the client and the vet but when the client says on and the vet does it anyway, they really do need to be reported.

Yorkie puppies have been known to die from the lepto vaccine. Some vets won't give it to dogs under 10 pounds and some won't give it at all. Because of the high reaction rate with the rabies, it should be given separately. Some would say this goes for lepto also.

there is some good information in here. Now it has me thinking, if a pup were to catch something from being at a park where lots of other animals have him, how quickly could they have gotten something and died? I can't help but think of my little pup that passed. We went on a walk at the park two-three days before he passed and he only had one set of shots :(

Many people don't do through research to check out the facts, and some people misunderstand what they have read. Also, she may have said no, and he "talked her into it." I just didn't want her to believe that it's always a bad thing to get a combination of shots. Joey was given Duramune® Max 5 which includes shots for canine distemper, infectious canine hepatitis, canine adenovirus type 2, canine parainfluenza, and canine parvovirus. Joey's breeder wrote into the contract that the rabies and booster vaccinations not be given on the same day, but two weeks apart, and that no Lepto be given. It just wasn't clear on this thread if the poster believed only the distemper shot should be given and no other.
