Mine came already microchipped from her breeder , so we registered her. My dh says, if someone found her , he doubts they would turn her in because shes so cute. And if some one stole her they sure as heck wouldn't. So he doesn't think it helps much ...but better safe and hopeful then sorry . |
Thanks everyone for the great advice. I will be registering Bella soon. |
I have micro-chipped and agree, the tag is not on his collar. I am also ordering an ID tag, but a health warning tag, I intend on having "liver problems-reward offered" on the tag. He does not have liver issues, but my hope is that this will encourage who finds him if ever lost to return him to us? Or possibly taking him to vet, who hopefully scans. Any thoughts on this? I feel a little guilty about being dishonest but I believe Yorkie's have a higher average for being stolen and the fact they are just so cute and lovable, I fear he may not be returned even if he is found. This is a worry for us, as with all of you. One question, if a dog is taken in to the vet and scanned. How is the vet notified that this is a missing/stolen dog? Also, do they have the authority to retain the dog if this is discovered? |
I would like to know the answer to this as well. Quote:
Although it's dishonest...I like the idea of putting a health related issue on the tag. IMO this is telling a "little white lie". If I ever put a tag on Missy, I may do this. |
