| Thinking about getting a second Yorkie and.... Well, we are considering getting Rex a little sister. Rex is 3 pounds and I spoke with his breeder today and she has a puppy that will end up somewhere around 2 pounds, will be too small to breed (otherwise she'd keep her for herself), and thinks she'd be perfect for Rex. Currently Rex stays in his crate while I am at work. He is well trained to go outside and does a great job of holding it through the day. But, IF we get another, I'd like for them both to be trained to go inside so they can play during the day instead of being crated. Why have two if they can't play? I see the posts about UGODOG, but wonder if I will have success training Rex to use it since he is trained to go outside? Any thoughts on getting him a little sister and any thoughts on how I can re-train him to go inside??? Thanks!

| You can train them to use the pad. I have 2 that were first outside trained. Well one was and the other was having accidents. Anyway she quit going outside in the snow so I pad trained her and My other one that is outside trained started using a pad also so he goes outside and on the pad. You will have to confine them with the pad and reward them when they use it. It can be done. When they didnt poo on the pad but elsewhere I would pick up the poo and put it on the pad so they would see thats where I wanted them to do that. There are also sprays that you can get to put on the pad.

| Hi, I had Kodak for 2yrs before I got him a playmate and I figured it may be hard to potty train another dog. Kodak was pad trained but I slowly got him trained outside. I figured when I got my 2nd yorkie, Kodak would pick up her habits and start peeing on the pads again and missing the pads etc. That's exactly what he did when he would smell where she used it, he would use it. I finally decided to take them out together so she could smell his pee outside. I also would take her poop off the pad and toss it outside in the grass. She then started using it outside and they now only rely on the pads if I'm gone all day. I confine them to use the pads only in a certain area and I give them a treat if I see them use the pads or use it outside. It actually worked for me. Even though accidents can occur, they are far in between. Good luck with your new puppy.

| Should I start trying to get Rex to go inside before we get another or after?

| I say before. Otherwise, he'll have to deal with both adjusting to going inside, and having a second dog in the house.

| I agree. It would give the new pup a good example to follow as well.

| I'm going to try to start him now. Even if we don't get another, I want him to have the option to be left out all day.
