Is this plant poisonous? I was just given a beautiful plant but I don't know the name of it, there was no card with it. I was hoping someone would know and could tell me if it's harmful to my pets.

The plant you received is part of the Schefflera species, and yes it is poisonous to animals. I have included a link that discribes what it is and how to care for your animal after ingestion. Schefflera

Btw, I had one and ended up giving it to my sister. Having it in the house scared me, especially with a new puppy who wants to eat everything. Hope this helps.

Thank you...I thought it was in the same family as the Schefflera but wasn't sure.

| I'm glad Tatum has never shown any interest in chewing on my plants - even when a leaf falls on the floor - because we have a really large Shefflera in the house that I've been growing and babying for about 18 years.
