How many yt "empty nesters" are out there? I got my first little furbaby (Toby) a few years ago, right before my youngest daughter got married. I knew I would need a little *someone* to fill the void created when the last of my children left the nest! He has since passed :( which left a huge void in my life. However we are blessed with 3 grandchildren who all live fairly close by and we tremendously enjoy seeing them often...but the same daughter and dh have recently moved a bit further away, and had the nerve to move our granddaughter (we have a special bond with that baby) along with them! LOL In September, just before they actually moved, I got my sweet little 7-yr old yorkie, Olivia (purely providential, but that is another story) It just struck me this weekend how Olivia's arrival also coincided with an "empty nest" event in my life, helping to fill the void since my gd moved further from us. Olivia is so perfect for me, loves to snuggle right next to me, loves being brushed, rarely barks, enjoys traveling with us (even snuck her into Target hehe), tolerates clothes and bows ;)...she truly fills my empty nest! How about you - has your empty nest also been filled with a little furbaby? :animal-pa |
We are empty nesters too...been married for 28 years and never had kids of our own...although my husband has a son and we had foster children. We've had Yorkies for most of those years and now Biewers so yes...our empty nest has been filled and I couldn't be happier! |
I got Jaxon when my son left for college & my hubby was traveling with a Busch Nascar team. Now my son has graduated (in May) and recently bought a place (Sept.) I miss him, but Jaxon is great company!!! Hugs-Kay & Jaxon |
I got Jake right before my son moved out. He is the youngest and the last to leave. My oldest daughter has 3 kids, and she lives about an hour away. It was hard for me when they first moved because we are so close to the grandchildren. My middle daughter isn't married yet, but she has her own apt. and visits us alot. I see all my kids and grandchildren really often, but I do think Jake helped to fill the void of them being gone. A year after I got Jake, I added Jackson. The two of them keep me busy, and I really enjoy taking care of them and playing with them. Personally, I am glad I waited until my kids were grown to get my yorkies. I have so much more time for them than I would have if I still had children at home. I was forced to retire early because of illness, and it's wonderful to have my boys as companions while my husband is at work. |

I have 3 furbabies to fill my void. Both of my sons are married and live in FL so I don't get to see my 3 grand children very often but my furbabies help make up for it. Betty |
Empty nester here!!:D 2 yorkies, 2 beagles and a rat terrier!!:D |
Same here. Raised four boys, all married now, with five grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren (only two are girls). All live within 10 miles of me. I'm not lonely but I love my three dogs. Especially my two baby yorkie girls. So I have lots of PINK stuff. HaHa |
Been there 6 times and it never got easier. My three fur-girls do help quite a bit. :D |

well...I'm not really an 'Empty Nest mum' just yet..but my only son is aged 14..growing up fast and doing his own thing..hubby is pretty busy too with his RAF career and outside work commitments..so I guess that Pixie is my baby..I spend most of my time fussing over her..:p:rolleyes::D |
I fall into the "kinda" category also. We have 2 living at home (1 in HS & 1 in College). Neither "need" Mom & Dad for much other than money ...lol! The girls have definitely filled the void for hubby & I. :D |
