Definitely count me in:D My boys joke all the time that they have been replaced by dogs. They have been just the ticket for me, I truly don't think the "emptying out" would have gone so well had I not had my little guys. |
We are in out mid 30's and don't have kids...our dogs are definitely our babies. Husband and I just got back inside and are warming up from taking our gang for a walk! |
What wonderful stories! Just gotta love these little bundles that bring us so much joy and fulfillment! :luvu: |
Count me in too. We didn't get our furbabies till after we retired from work. The kids are all grown:( but these babies are so special:p they just melt the heart:yorkiesar Paula;) Halle:aimeeyork Brutis:aimeeyork Baby girls:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
We got Sophie seven years ago. My husband (2nd) and I have been married 12 years now, and we each have two grown children. We have no children together, and Sophie is the child we are parenting.;) |
Yep ... count us in too! My son [46] refers to Toto as his little sister! :) Sometimes I think they are a little jealous of her and I just give them a hug and say ... "you coulda stayed home"!! :p My Amanda works for a vet and is just as animal crazy as we are! :) We are about 1500 miles from home and miss them terribly so Toto fills a huge void in our lives. Patrick and I don't have children together either so she's our little girl! ;) |
we are empty nesters for a long time.. I got my first yorkie a rescue when my oldest grandson was young and we moved away from him, (military) now that grandson is in boot camp and going to enjoy the military life also.. in no time we had two yorkies, then three..that was the old family.. Now we have 5 little furbutts... anne |
I too, can be counted in amongst all of you! Between hubby and I, we have 4 grown children and 3 grand-kids. We do still have one adult son living here with us, but is of course not dependant on us (too much LOL). Hubby and I never had kids "together" as we were married just 5 years ago, so our 4 yorkies are the kids we never had! |
Count me in too.I have 3 grown children from 29-23 yrs old and 3 GS's.And they all love their furry Sisters and Aunts, lol.:p |
well I'm almost there. my last child (daughter) is a senior in hs and she's going to college in the fall of 09. Tyke is supposed to be her's, but he's not...lol I told her sorry he's mine and he helps me so much because no one is at home anymore. My husband works and he's really gone alot right now because it's deer season and he likes to hunt. Tyke keeps me company, I can't live without my yorkie.....maybe next year I can get another one.....lol:D:D:D |
Empty nester here too!!! After raising and surviving two children... ages 37 and 29, am loving raising my fury children. Must be the unconditional love my furkids give, god only knows you never get that from your kids or husband. Besides after raising teens I know why alligators eat their young..... lol:D :animal36:animal-pa:animal-pa |

So happy to see some of your replies!! I was beginning to think I was the only "older person" here. I'm sure that I still am but at least I see that some of you have grandchildren etc. Lily is like my "change of life baby"!!lol Sometimes I can't believe myself how much time and money I spend on her and don't even mind it!!LOL |
I just love this thread, because it is so true, they fill a void in your heart! (even if your not an empty nester). My daughter has been gone since 2003, is now in her second year of medical school, and my son in the military, two daughters one in Tennessee and one in Kentucky. Soooo, yes we definitely fall in the category of empty nesters. We are retired and this little guy has become our baby. We dont get to see our children or grandchildren enough and plan on many road trips. It will be so nice to be able to take our baby with us! :D Although.... Addisons one and only road trip thus far (bringing him home from a rescue) he vomited in the van. :confused:Im am really hoping it was all the stress of the situation. I do hear there is medication that is safe to give them to help with nausea. I hope this is true, would hate to think he was miserable riding in the car. |
Count me in too. Dtr turns 22 tomorrow and lives next door. But no grandkids and with a divorce on the way not looking like any in the near future. Gypsy and Puff fill our hearts though Niki still needs mom and dad occasionally. |
