I haven't had to deal with rude comments like that yet, I don't know how I would of handled it, probably not nicely! lol I love to bring my yorkie in stores with me too, I always do, once I even got kicked out  I don't go to that store no more though. |
Some people are just so rude! |

Taken from the Akc Website So there are no war's ! "Weight Must not exceed seven pounds" "If you are considering purchasing a Yorkshire Terrier puppy, learn more here. Toy Group; AKC recognized in 1885. Ranging in size from four to seven pounds. Companion, ratter." American Kennel Club - Yorkshire Terrier |

People will attack anything if they can. We're not always very tactful especially when it comes to things care about. We all feel strongly about our furbabys. :D The fact that dog's are allowed pretty much anywhere in Germany is one of my favorite things. |
I have two yorkies, and I get questioned by people all the time. Jake is 4 1/2 lbs. and Jackson is 7 lbs. I always get "why is one so much bigger?"....or "is the bigger one a yorkie too?"....."why is the bigger one so much darker....are you sure he's a real yorkie?" Silly people:rolleyes: |

I always kind of head people off before I bring Rory out of the carrier. They'll ask me what kind of dog she is and when they hear yorkie they want to see her! Anyways, I always say she's a big one though - they joke when I pull her out of the carrier she keeps coming and coming. I don't really mind though - it's all relative (I had a 135 bullmastiff) - the girls always want to hold her and pet her while I shop. Some even tell me to let her run around the store! :aimeeyork:animal-pa I've always found the more high end the store is the more accepting they seem of animals - I could be dreaming though. I don't think twice of walking Rory into Neiman's, but somewhere like Old Navy I'd worry I'd get kicked out... |

I don't either! Jake is just very tiny, very tiny features. Jackson has a very sturdy look to him....and he IS sturdy. But, Jackson has ALOT of thick hair. So, if you saw him wet....you could see, he's really not THAT big at all. In fact, I like his size. |

I love ( I know you all do too) to show my Max off, specially if he keeps on some nice cloth long enough to go out, I was walking him, and this lady approached me, to ask: 1- What dog is that?- That's my baby, not a dog, and is a Yorkie 2- Did you buy IT online?- No, I bought HIM from a breeder. 3- How much did you pay for IT?() -Not enough for the happiness HE brings At this point the lady tells,.. I'm buying from a person online, but mine is a real teacup, the one I'm getting is much smaller than yours.:eek::eek: Now, what would you answer to a person like that?Absolutely nothing, just let her go without wringing her neck , that's all.We love our babies, no matter how big, how small, how fat or skinny they are.It is not a competition, we really get happy if someone gets a new baby, or new clothes for them, we worry, if one, even if it's not our gets sick, but then again, not everybody is the same. |

Yes I agree I dont look at 2.5 pounds being a HUGE diff either but like my vet said when i was told Diggy is over weight at 6.3 pounds and he has the frame of a 4.5-5 pounder (dont tell diggy :p) when ya think of it as this, for a 5 pounder 2.5 pounds is half his body weight and Diggy is THAT much over weight i was like OH CRAP :S I didnt not even see it that way. Bella is 5 pounds and Diggy 6.3 and some think Bella is bigger than him! just weird how they can carry weight so differently yet it really be a BIG difference! Diggy is having to go on a diet as he has LP in back leg and the extra pound or so is having a huge impact on it. Im not big into standard as I find (spayed/neutered) teapots ADORABLE and as all that much more yorkie to love :) Havent seen pics of the boys lately (hint hint) :) |
i almost posted something about this once before! I have a 6 pounder (remy) and an almost 8 pounder (roscoe) and people always say to me 'they sure are big for yorkies!! are they purebred!!?" WHO CARES!? Haha. I love them just the same. Remy I bought with papers & Roscoe we adopted so I don't know but he is, clearly (at least to me) a yorkie through and through! Either way-we love our babies no matter how big or small! :) i think that when you see yorkies on tv and when you see a celebrity with a yorkie-they are usually on the smaller side of the spectrum so I guess that is just what all non-yorkie people (haha) think when they hear 'yorkie.' |
I just don't understand why people have to comment at all. Can't they just say "Oh how cute" and move on. Makes me soooo mad! :aimeeyork COCO :aimeeyork PEBBLES :aimeeyorkTRIXIE |
