BEWARE of Becky Fitzpatrick!!!!!
 

As many of you know, I purchased my newest male from a breeder named Rebecca Lyn Fitzpatrick who resides in Halletsville, TX. I have tried unsuccessfully to get his AKC puppy registration papers. At the time of purchase, she wrote and signed a letter stating that I would receive papers withing 4-6 weeks or a full refund would be given. As of yesterday, August 17th, it's been 7 weeks.

She has dodged my phone calls these past couple of weeks and hasn't returned my calls. She promised the papers on August 17th to no evail. I've contacted the JP in her county and received my packet of papers to file yesterday.

I don't care how nice someone seems...even with a written letter from them, if you don't care about receiving the papers, fine but you should really not ever take a puppy home without papers in hand. I had bought my mom's Maltese the same way from another lady in Halletsville. She was honest enough to send the papers and I guess that I was just lucky. I try to believe that people are honest and will do what they say they will. I guess I'm just too trusting and naive.

On Monday, I'll send her a letter stating my claim for either the papers or a full refund and then she'll have 10 days to respond. If she doesn't respond to the court then a court date will be set.

She has puppies for sale right now and a friend of mine called her. They are only 6 weeks old, have not had any of their shots but she's willing to sell them without their shots or a vet check up. Males she's asking $950-1250 and one female she's selling for $2000.

BEWARE!!!! This has been more of a hassle than I bargained for!!!!

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Will you keep the puppy either way? Good luck and keep us posted.

That all depends on the judges ruling. I've asked for either the papers or a full refund plus court costs.

I might have to do the same, as i am going through a similar thing, my breeders studs owner developed cancer and going through chemo and dont want o be botherd at this time,i am trying to be understanding but Rosi is 5 mo. old now....keep us posted how you fare please !

Wow I am really sorry to hear that you still haven't gotten you papers yet, but am glad to see that you are taking a step to hopefully correct that...I hope everything works out for you and the puppy!! Please keep us updated!!

So the letter said that she'll send them in 4-6 weeks or a full refund? Does that mean that since 4-6 weeks passed you get a full refund AND you are keeping your puppy? I am pretty sure that's how the judge will rule (unless s/he's an idiot).

Sorry to hear this. I tell you now a days you can't trust anyone and its amazing what some people will do in a quick effort to make money regardless of their reputation or morals. :mad:

I drove to her house today with a letter...not the legal one...but in an attempt to get the papers for the last time. She was not there...her car wasn't but her cousin who is in town was. Cousin told me that Becky wouldn't be home till later in the afternoon. I asked her to give Becky my letter and she said that she would. Haven't heard from her yet. Don't know if she back from where ever she went, but I am sure that the cousin read the letter and called Becky's cell phone to tell her what was going on.

Even took a friend with me so at least if this does end up in court, I have a witness see that at least I was doing my part to try to get the papers.

I'm sorry, but SCREW HER. She is giving you the run-around. Get both. Let your lawyer do her job and get as much as you can outta this scam artist. She's gonna be scared sh*tless and hopefully will get her dogs taken from her because she's an idiot. Who signs a contract like that and doesn't honor it? What, did she think you didn't care?? ugh. Good luck to you. I have a friend that was suppose to get akc papers for her yorkie female first they told her it would be $25.00 more dollars. (you can't sell akc papers they come with the dog.Then when she called they told her it would be $90.00 more. I told her to turn him in but she didnt believe me they wouldn't like me. They are in ky.

I was reading over the papers that I received from the JP. It states in there that they can't force her to pay. They can award in my favor but getting the money will be another thing. It also states in there since they can't force her to pay. I can file a contempt of court and/or I can put a lean on any of her property for 10 years. Therefore if she tries to sell like her house, they can't get a clear title until I get my money. This is just SO FRUSTRATING!!!

Why would anyone do crap like this is beyond me. You would think that you're trying to build a good reputation.

I'm going to file a complaint with AKC and I've thought about placing and ad in the Houston, Austin, San Antonio paper that if someone is thinking of buying a yorkie from this woman to call me. But, I might get in some type of legal trouble for that.

I'll be representing myself since this is small claims court.

I need to file a complaint against a breeder who has not given me the AKC puppy papers. I'm already in the process of filing a civil law suit in her county. What steps do I need to take so that you can start your investigation of her and her records? Thanks, Kim Ellisor

I'm so sorry she's doing this to you. There's no reason she shouldn't have had the papers when she gave it to you. I use to breed pit bulls, and as soon as they were born we'd send for the papers, so we'd always be able to give them to the people when we released the pups.

This is awful. I'm by no means a breeder. Mollie's puppies are 3 1/2 weeks old. I already have their papers and have had them for over a week. It's not a hassle at all to get this done. Just pure laziness.

I would definately contact AKC and file a complaint. This breeder is committing fraud I would think and perhaps AKC can send her a letter. Good Luck

Thanks, Pat. Hopefully AKC will start an investigation with her. There's nothing that I can do about the papers since I didn't get the parent's registration number...was told by AKC in an e-mail. The only thing left is to file a complaint.

I don't know if she's home yet since I figured she'd call by now. But then again, she might not even care and is calling my bluff.

as a breeder i try to have papers all on time but sometimes it takes a while when my dads plane went down in alaska i had a litter on the ground of toy aussies and i couldnt handle much more mom having a stroke and dad missing so i guess i was lucky my good friend countrygirl steped up and sold most as pet quality np for most but the few who had been dying for this cross to improve there own line i was totaly honest with telling them i dont know when i will do the paper work but i will. 9months it took me to pick myself up and get paperwork figured out *mostly because while up in sitka looking for my dad and family who were in the plane my home was robed and trashed did i mention i was in escrow while this all happend rember to ask whats going on breeders are humans too. also you can call akc if you know dob and mom and dads reg name and number and see whats going on tell akc ! they will investigate

that was a horrible time for you and VERY understandable. with this breeder, however, went on a trip to alaska and canada and did not call me when she got back. i had to do the calling. i'm pretty sure that she went out of town again to visit her boyfriend who works off shore. i had contacted AKC already last week. i don't know his exact b-day or the parent's registration number which is what they requested. i did the calculations going by his shot records and they said that there were not litters born from this litter in april...which is a little strange since according to his shot records, this is when he should have been born.

I hope it all works out for you did the breeder sign her contract that you have a copy of you may also want to print a copy of her contract off her websight if that is possible before you go to cort i also would take in quotes of what a non papered yorkies cost some judges have no clue

I understand your frustration, I went through a simluar thing with Max, and I was very upset too!!

If you call the AKC, tell them the breeders name and the date of the litter they will tell you if the litter was even registered and if so when. I am not sure if they are obligated to tell you but if you ask nicely they probably will ;)

It might help to know if the litter was even registered, or if it was registered late or not at all.

Please don't try to make me out to be an ogre. Of course a breeder can go on vacation but if there is a sale that is left unfinished at least she could have called and let me know. I've been given the run around since I got him. If you would have read the entire thread, you would see that lately, she hasn't called me at all. I've had to do all of the calling and when she's said that she would call, she doesn't. I was promised the papers yesterday and once again, she didn't hold her end of the deal up. I did not purchase him on-line. As a breeder myself, I would NEVER put a buyer through this!!! :thumbdown

Kimberley, I hope you can get this resolved ASAP! I'd be upset too. When a person can't even return a phone call you begin to wonder if there are other things you should know. Integrity goes a long way...fulfilling promises, staying in communication, following up on loose ends. This person needs a lesson in trustworthy business practices. Sometimes the only way to teach them is to take them to court.

Well, along with this site, I've posted this same thread on 3 others. I just want people to know who this person is and to avoid her like the plague!
