Hi everyone and thank u for all the advice so far .. I did notice he stopped the hacking when I took the fleece off of him, could he be allergic to it, chewing it or breathing in something from it? My gut tells me he is not ill.. but he will be seen by a vet no matter.. i'm just trying to get some ideasfor the meantime. |
Definitely, get your pup checked by a good vet! It's likely to be nothing... or it could still be kennel cough or even allergies. God forbid, it could be something else. My older dog (+/- 10 year old Cairn) has a hacking dry cough, that he's had for 2 weeks. I brought him to the vet because it wasn't getting better, to have him checked, and it's lung cancer. I don't mean to scare you... it's EXTREMELY rare in dogs. My point is, you don't know what it is. You can't take the chance of giving an inoculation to a pup whose resistance is lowered by illness. It's better to be safe than sorry! |
Thank you for all the responses! My baby is still getting a vet apt but I AM SO GLAD THAT IT STOPPED , he hasn't done the hacking since the last time I had posted it which was 9 p.m last night, he hasn't done it not even once so I am thinking he was either getting a bit irritated from the first time wearing the fleece or he had some string or something in his throat and had to get rid of it.. I can OFFICIALLY BREATHE lol... I am really touched by the concern and care that each of you approach with! it makes this message board stand out:thumbup::thumbup: |
Please do check and see if it's kennel cough..It's really important to rule this out. b/c like was mentioned before, it can turn into pneumonia which is really scary...The hacking usually happens at night too from what I've read, but this is also the case with asthma... The only reason I mentioned if you had purchased anything new is because that happened with my yorkie earlier this year. He had a severe allergic reaction to a new blanket that I had purchased, and I had not washed it yet. He was hacking up foamy white stuff and wheezing at one point. Took him into the vet and figured out what was wrong..Shortly after we got rid of the blanket, he was all better :) |
Hi I am a new Yorkie owner and my puppy had the same problem, turns out she had Pnemonia which started out as Kennel Cough. Don't be like and wait, do as the other posters suggested and take your puppy to the vet. I wish I had taken Sophie Kate to the vet earlier, Sophie Kate was a sick little girl and had to have two antiboitic shots and the vet delay her last round of vaccinces for two week until her pnemonia was almost gone. |
My baby went in to the vet today and nothing is wrong, he is a perfectly healthy little guy. He had his lymphnodes, chest, ears, eyes and everything examined and was found to be doing well... the vet said it's probably the hoodie neckline bothering him because it happens only when he has been wearing one.. it doesn't matter what kind of fabric just the hoodie itself. He did good and didn't give them too much of a fuss like I had figured he would lol.. I am just so glad I got him into a great vet clinic and he is doing well... thanks to everyone for your help and concern  |
