| First Week with Furbaby Maija is beginning to adjust nicely to her new home. Since she is 16 months I figured it would take a little time for her to adjust. When we first brought her home she would not leave my lap but now she is getting independent and walking around by herself. I am just a little worried cause she doesn't play too much. Not sure if that has to do with adjusting or what. I am going to get some nutrical today just to make sure its not her sugar that has her wanting to just lay around. I don't think it is cause when she goes outside she runs around, so who knows. Maybe she is just a lap hog... hahaha. Oh and I will post pictures in the picture forum.

| Can't wait to see pictures! Good idea on the nutrical. It may just be that she likes to be held, but it is certainly not worth the pain and agony if it isn't the case. Are you letting her get adequate napping? I liked to let my baby sleep in a little collapsable house when he was just a little baby until he would wake up, then I'd let him out to go potty, then play until he slowed down, and then put him back into his house. That way he got familiar with his little house and we were able to monitor his food intake/outake and his energy level. It was hard to get him on a schedule but now he is an awesome little poochy who plays all morning and then sleeps the afternoon away. I wish I could have his lifestyle! I also forgot she was 16 months, maybe she just likes to feel safe, you know? I'm sure she'll come out of her little shell, but maybe she just needs some extra love and patience from you. Try letting her sleep for a while and when she wakes up be energetic and invite her to come play with you and her toys. After enough times of your invitations, I'm sure she'll take a leap and come play with her mama. Just a thought. Last edited by DorkyYorkie1; 11-11-2008 at 09:19 AM. |

| Have you tried playing fetch with a squeaky toy? She liked to do that here, but was usually beat to the toy by one of the others. Now that she has less competition she should love it! She is a little lap dog though. Whenever anyone sits down she is right there!

| Yeah I got her a squeaky toy. Everyday she seems more and more interested in it. But yep as soon as I sit down she right in my lap... its so cute!

| I think you shouldn't worry too much . . . my girl just wants to lay on my lap 24/7 if she had her way . . .so your baby might just be the same way, a total lap HOG |
