My Abby is being spayed tomorrow
 

To say I'm worried is an understatement. I know she'll be fine, I know she will!! She has to be. I just can not stand the thought of handing her over to them and walking away :( I worry about what she'll be thinking and feeling when she wakes up and I'm not there. I'm with her nearly 24/7!! She's my baby and sits on my lap most of the time or is on my shoulder asleep when she's not playing.

I do get to bring her home with me tomorrow night, barring any problems.

So please keep positive thoughts for my sweet little Abigail Grace tomorrow.
Oh and she's also having 3 teeth pulled..I hope she will feel OK when she comes home.

Oh Tammy! I know exactly the worry you are feeling. I felt that same way with Maddie and Libby. I think the worse part IS handing them over. I'll never forget the looks on their little faces when the tech went walking away with them. I'll pray...not just for Abby, but also for you! *HUG* Both times my girls were getting spayed, I tried to keep really busy doing something, so the time would pass more quickly. Think of something that will be fun or productive and that will help you while you wait for the call. One thing that I did, was ask my vet if they could be the first surgery of the day and he did that both times for me. That way I got the call early saying all was well, and that makes one feel so much better.

I'll be thinking of you and Abby and praying too. I will be so glad when it's over and you have her back home with you!

I just called with my list of questions and asked about the surgery schedule.

They said to have her there between 8-9, so I asked if she was there the earliest if she's go in first and get to come home earlier...she said and I quote..."I have no idea" That was helpful...NOT! So, I'm waiting until 9! No need in her sitting there waiting to be taken back any longer than she has to.

I also asked about the pain meds. She said they'd send her home w/ Remedyl (sp?) Is this a good one? Dangerous? and then I asked what time I'd be able to pick her up and she also said she didn't know!!! GEEZ! That is not comforting at all to not get answers. I will have the answers before I leave there tomorrow.

good luck tomorrow. and try to relax. :) what i did on the day of milu's spay surgery was doing things to keep my mind off of it. i went shopping and did other things to keep myself from worrying about her the whole time she was at the vet.

i also waited till the last minute to take milu in to the vet, because i didn't want her to be away from me for so long.

i took her for a little walk outside the vet's office before leaving. i also brought her bed, her blanket, and her piglet for her so she can have it with her there the whole day. (you can try to sleep with her balnket the night before so it smells like you so abby can smell you and not feel lonely when she wakes up from the surgery.)

Thank You :) She loves my robe and sleeps on it all the time, but I don't think I'll take my robe in ;) Good idea about her blankey. I'll do that.

I will come back home because I have Daisy and wouldn't want her to be home alone, so maybe Daisy and I will go do somethings together while Abby is at the vet. Maybe we'll camp out in the parking lot :D

I know exactly what you're going through my Piper is also going to be spayed tomorrow. I'm a nervous wreck. Last March I had to say good-bye to my 13 year old yorkie Chip. I cried every day until I brought Piper home in July. Piper is totally different than Chip but I love her just as much as I did him. I'm so worried I can't imagine loosing her to.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my male yorkie, Peanut last January :(
Of course I remember the heartache and that's one thing that's scareing me so badly. I can't lose Abby. I won't even think like that.

I wish you and Piper all the luck in the world tomorrow. Please check in and let me know how she does...OK? I'll be praying for both of you.

I know what you are feeling. My Katy Lou goes this Thursday to be spayed. I have dreaded the day for so long. Just thinking about it makes me feel ill. I love her so much. I will pray for your baby to be safe.

Oh I wish I could take the worry away from you..I remember that feeling all too well..it took me months to book that appointment..and afterwards she was almost back to normal within 24 hrs!:p i'll be thinking about you both and checking for updates...she will do fine!!!;) BIG HUG!:D

AprilLove had 11 teeth pulled when she was spayed :eek:, she was only 3 lbs and she was back to herself in a couple days.

Tammy, Abby will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. I know she will do great - she is such a healthy and lively young lady. :)

It sounds like you have thought of everything to make her time at the vet as comfortable as possible. She'll be recovering on your lap tomorrow at this time. Bless you both and we will be thinking about you.

Believe me, I understand exactly what you are talking about, "Handing her over" in the morning. I cried when I left each one of mine. But I was worse handing Bella over. I sent her binkey, her pjs for them to put on her after the surgery, and her favorite toy. Bella's vet requires that they stay over night, so I was super worried about me not being with her. She was a little scared when I got her the next morning, but she did fine. She also had two teeth pulled. The hardest thing will be to keep her quiet for a few days after the surgery. Let us know how things go tomorrow. We'll be waiting to hear from you.

A "pawful" of prayers for your Abby, and I'm sure she will be so glad to be home to her loving mommy that she will recover in no time!

Sadie was ready to play shortly after her spaying - although she was VERY groggy.

I dropped Abby off at the vet's this morning at about 8:30 or so...I asked a zillion questions, I think they were happy to see me leave. She has her blankey with her and Diane, the vet tech was loving on Abby, but Abby was struggling to get back to me. Before I left, I kissed her and told her I'd be back in just a bit to pick her up. I know she didn't understand, but I had to say something to her. Abby hates riding in the car, so that made it all the worse. This car thing is new..I have no idea why she's developed this fear.

I get to pick her up at 4 o'clock. They said I could call at 3 to see if she was OK, but that was before they knew I was picking her up...I'm still calling.
Usually they require an overnight stay. I had requested months ago for a same day spay and Dr. Thomas agreed, so I'm happy about that. I just pray we have an uneventful night.

I should get up and get busy to keep my mind off of things, but I'm sipping coffee and pouting :(

Guess what? I realized I didn't say anything about her baby teeth this morning, so I picked up the phone and called to remind them...
She's already been spayed and the teeth are out!!!!!

She's just starting to wake up, but she came through fine! :D I'm so happy!!!! :cheer:

Thats great! Im glad its done and went well. Now you can just look forward to when you have your baby home:)

I know we're a bit late but so glad to hear she's doing well this morning! Having *just* gone through this with Zoë last Thursday I know just how you're feelings. I kept busy the entire day while waiting for her. And as soon as she was home she was treated like a little princess (even more so than usual).
