Fake peeing! So walker is 12 weeks old and doing rather well with potty training. When we go outside and he goes potty he gets a treat and praise out the wazoo. :) About 3 days ago he started "going potty" 3 or 4 times EVERY trip out. Now mind you i like to think i'm pretty smart. So after 2 days of this I got worried that he had a UTI or another medical issue and checked to see if he was just peeing a little each time and he's not peeing! He pops a squat, or hike his little pup leg but doesn't pee. The little terror just wants his treat! Does anyone elses dog fake pee? Or is walker the only dog this much smarter than his owner:rolleyes: |
Clarence (at 12!) still pulls those tricks. I just tell him to get back out there & go potty. They ARE stinkers! |
Lady is thirteen and does the same thing! She still gets a treat for using her pee pads and always tries to get freebies. She will actually circle like she is going to pee and then look at me for a treat. She never tried actual squatting, though! If I don't pick her wet pad up immediately, she'll go back to it and bark for a treat! |
That is so funny :D Those little stinkers are so clever... My Suzi does not get a reward for peeing on her mat, because I have had no problems with her doing so. She does however, get praised when she poos on her mat. That is A big praise ! She has not tries to fake a poo though. But, I have seen her many times lift her leg to pee... Yep Suzi, my girlie pup, will lift her leg . HA ha ha , it is the funniset thing . Oh well, whatever works , right :D |
My 5 month old has fake peed before. He even tried a fake poo once - went through the motions, then came running for his treat. I had to send him back to try again. |
Wrigley used to fake poop for a treat :) We don't give treats now for going to the bathroom and just verbal praise and I guess that isn't enough for a fake poop any more :) |
That is so funny!!!!! I loved the stories!! My Daizy I guess isn't as cunning as the rest here...but My sisters yorkie...fakes a pee all the time!!! It's not for treats since she doesn't give potty treats...but I think it's to get my sister off her back so she can continue on in her sniff campaign!!! |
Gracie did the same thing as a puppy. She is very food motivated and as soon as she connected going potty with getting a treat she was fake pottying all of the time. The good thing is the real potties were in the right place.:D She was by far the easiest of the 3 to train so I guess it's a good thing. |
Pita does the same thing!! I was like you and thought she had a problem, but nope...just wanted the treat. |
I have to laugh at your story and relate at the same time. :D Piccolo is a master at faking for a treat. |
i know with my males...they do actually go or try to go...even if its a drop..i watch them go around the house...and sniff, lift and either let it go or just a drop or two...hehe...its kinda of their way of marking even though sometimes nothing comes out...eheh |
OMG Maxi does this once in a blue moon. I mean nothing would come out he would just squat really quick and fake it so we will go home and he will get a treat. LOL |
lol. Tila used to do that too when we were housetraining when we first got her. Once she realized that mom would tell her what a little sweetheart she was and that she'd get a treat, she caught on real quick and started her tricks. She'd keep going to her mat and squat and come running to me smile on her face, tail wagging, looking for that treat. I caught on to what she was up to. Little devil's and their trickes. Hehehe, it is rather cute seeing them at it. |
LOL!!! I can't stop laughing!! Buster does the same thing. He started doing that about 3 months ago at 5 months old. I just think it is the funniest thing for them to think they are out smarting us. Well, I guess he did get me the first few times! |
Real peeing . Fake peeing . Wiz does the same thing . Lately I am finding huge watery pees on my floor and wondering what's that all about ... |
