Who else has a dog who has a weird Fetish?

My yorkie Jamie has a really weird habit-when ever it is time to vacuum the house he goes absolutely bonkers. He chases me around the house growling and trying to bite the vacuum cleaner ,he thinks it is a huge game and when he is not doing that he runs to get a toy as if it's playtime.:hearts-xx

sandyapk 11-07-2008 11:00 PM

lol. Yorkies have such distinct personalities!
Mia has a weird habit. When she is tired she barks and whines, and acts up. Every night she pitches a fit for about 30 to 45 minutes because she wants us to go to bed with her. So I will put her in a cozy cuddlier on the couch, she will chew on my hand if I try to pet her. There is just no dealing with her when she is tired. I don't often want to go to bed at 9!!

Lindsay1973 11-07-2008 11:07 PM

Jamie also gets funny when he is tired my hubby usually goes to bed first and he will follow him around the house acting all droopy and sighing like we are keeping him from his beauty sleep.

DukesMommy 11-08-2008 12:46 AM

Lucie likes to put her back leg over people. She starts acting like she's going to play but then she'll crash into my leg then put her short little back leg over my foot and stand there like she's stuck. And if I move my foot she does it all over again.

My other one, Duke likes to sleep like he's a baby, my dad sits in his chair with him cradled like a baby sleeping.

duckie215 11-08-2008 01:39 AM

Walker is an oddball too. hehe. He WILL NOT come out of his crate if anyone is looking. Its like a fun little game. Open his crate. take two steps turn and look and his heads hanging out. look away then quick look back hes got his front feet out. And hes staring at you all pitiful until you look away again. He will literally stay half in half out of his crate for at least 5 minutes (I've timed it) Until you look away. He's so OCD about it. So cute! I love my crazy yorkie!

Lindsay1973 11-08-2008 01:55 AM

Jamie loves to play he fetches a toy and plonks it down in front of you and then looks at you expectantly. If you try to pick it up he puts his paws around it and you have to wrestle it away from him.If you ignore him then he kicks all his feet on the carpet like some dogs do after they have piddled. If you really ignore him then he barks at you as if saying "Hey,Yorkie here play with me or suffer the consquences"

Wabbit 11-08-2008 03:37 PM

Oh I just loved all the crazy little yorkie stories....lol

My Daizy is alot like the sleepy ones...that throw fits....however she's very quiet and subtle about it... if it get's past 10 o'clock she just tends to follow me everywhere and stare at me...lol She yawns and blinks her sleepy little eyes ALOT...

I'll take her and put her in bed with my hubby but She absolutely will not stay in bed with him.....she will stay up as long as I do...which can be late since I have insomnia...lol Finally she'll get too tired to give me the quiet guilt trip and finally she'll cuddle up next to me and try to sleep. She does it every night!! lol I just love it..

She also loves to tease me with her little "lamby" I"ll ask her where it is...and she'll run, find it and act like she's bringing it to me...she'll lay it on the floor and just watch me and wait for me to reach for it....she'll wait there as LONG as I don't move...lol as soon as I move to grab it she attacks me and the toy!! LOL

LOVE THEM PRECIOUS YORKIES!!!! I so can't wait to see what kind of silly things my new baby Tulip does!!! She does have the cutest growl and bark I've ever heard...she doesn't even sound real...she sounds literally like a little toy!!

veggienut 11-08-2008 03:42 PM

Maxwell does the same thing as your with the vacuum cleaner. He tries to attack it and makes a loud high pitch screaching noise, which hurts my ears. He does the same thing when I am using broom, rake, etc.

Oh yea, All of my babies do the same thing. Also with the lawn mower. They like to bite the tires....

SweetPea53 11-08-2008 05:39 PM

Lil' Miss Izzie is obsessed with the toilet upstairs in my bathroom and my shower drain, so ignores the other two toilets in the house...but she loves to hang over the edge of maser toilet and growl at the water or on my shower drain loves to scratch at it with her paws and growls....????? I often wonder what she must be thinking

Elybourg 11-08-2008 05:56 PM

Toby hates when I clean mirrors, he barks his head off, windows are fine, but mirrors are a no no.
He also leans down on his forepaws around 10 pm each night and vocalizes that it is time to go to bed, then toodles off to the bedroom with Mr Squirrel in his mouth. If you ignore him, he reappears in about ten minutes and is much more demanding.

That is hilarious! This cracks me up. My Mayzie won't potty on the pad if I watch.

LDandPasquale 11-08-2008 06:09 PM

i'm so glad to read this thread!!! I thought my dog was a bit weird...now i'm glad to know he's not the only one lol

Pasquale will play in my bedroom in the morning with his ball during my shower..and when i'm putting on clothes. BUT as soon as i start to do my hair...it's (tires screetching) STOP. He just stares and watches me do my hair. It's the funniest thing!!! Everytime i look down ....there are those two little brown eyes staring at me. He really is obsessed with my hair. When i'm lying down at night in my bed...he'll sit at the top of my pillow and pet my hair LoL

dianethomas 11-08-2008 06:14 PM

Cricket will actually bite or snap at my hubby if he pats me on the behind or something. They play this little game where he pretends he's going to smack me, then when she lunges, he tugs her hair or something. She loves it.
Zacchie, on the other hand, has a very annoying habit of digging through the laundry hamper for dirty undies, and dragging them all over the house. Once, I was watching a friend's kids, and their daughter brought me a pair of mine, and said Zaccheus had them.
That wasn't even a little bit embarassing!

Patti 11-08-2008 06:19 PM

Pixie will dig out my pajama's as soon as I leave the house and pull them down the ramp and bring them into the hall and sleep on them while I am gone. She does this every time I leave the house.

Potter 11-08-2008 07:19 PM

Mine goes crazy if I blow him doesn't matter how near or how far I am..hehehe. He will sprint around the house when I do it and then starts to scratch his ears. I think it tickles him hehehe. The other thing that makes him running is when I imitate the burping sound but drag it long...like this "buuurrrrpppp" and he'd go crazy.

Ashley V 11-08-2008 07:25 PM

Every night... no lie... Chip will crawl under the covers and lick my feet until he goes to sleep.

Lindsay1973 11-08-2008 09:33 PM

Jamie does it with the rake too and when my dad was pulling out weeds in the garden he grabbed one and tried to do it too. Also when my hubby and dad on seperate occasions where doing repairs Jamie stole all their tools. It was sooo funny.

I glad walker's not the only crazy yorkie. :tinyheart And don't we all just love them that way! He newest thing is i'm trying to scrapbook my christmas cards and he will jump up on the couch and sleep on my scrap papers so I need to move him to do anything. I think its his way of telling me that i am not allowed to ignore him.

Here's a picture

Thats def. a terrier thing! Mika and my Staff bull terrier Nikki both go nuts when I vacuum/brush/mop/scrub the floor!!! Their "killer" instinct kicks in!LOL! While my Old English Sheepdog Owen lies there watching them and wondering what on earth they are up to:rolleyes:

Both my terrors 'er I mean terriers (or do I?LOL) go nuts over little plush and squeaky toys too! They shake, toss and tear 'em up! I go through tonnes! And my Staff HATES feathers! If she spots one floating around she goes C-R-A-Z-Y!!! We had to rehome our parrot to a friend of ours because of this and we never get song birds in the garden because if she spots them she goes loco!

cinderella2008 11-09-2008 05:48 AM

there so funny

i just loved reading about all the funny habits my little girl wont get up in the morning she has to get into bed in the same spot iv just left and snuggles down and stays there for about half an hour after everyones up then she strolls down stairs stretching ready for the day also when shes cold she pulls her bed from the kitchen into the sitting room and puts it under the radiator shes not selfish she goes back for the cat bed and pulls his there too bless her :animal-pa:animal-pa

IluvLucy 11-09-2008 06:35 AM

I love this thread. Yorkies are so funny - they all have distinct characteristics!

Lucy and Reb ALWAYS lie down at around 9:pm - when I go to bed, I'll say c'mon, let's go to bed and they go to the crate and wait for me to close the door.

Lucy freaks out over the vacuum, too - she literally goes after it. When Reb is tired, he gets a toy or blankie, lies down, and sucks on a piece of it like it's a pacifier. He goes to sleep doing this.

They both like to be brushed while on the back of the sofa. I get out the brush, comb, etc and turn around and both of them are on back of the sofa waiting for me.

Ashley V 11-09-2008 06:43 AM

When being brushed or scratched on his back, Chip will pin his ears back and look behind him at me.

OH!!! And do NOT get metal objects around Chip... he gets ANGRY and attacks them. I have no idea what he has against metal, but if moves just the slightest bit, he's right there growling and biting... my little ankle biter!! :D

Oh and plungers... he gets angry at plungers too. I had to go buy a new one that had a plastic handle because he got angry at the plunger so much and chewed the wooden handle to where I got splinters the next time I had to use it.

Ashley V 11-09-2008 06:44 AM

And one last thing... Chip LOVES bubbles from bubble baths. He gets so excited when I take a bubble bath and has even jumped in the tub with me.

Smokey has no weird traits.... he's just Smokey. The only thing he does... he could be anywhere in the house and we can be screaming his name for him to come and he won't... but as soon as you say "Outside!!!" he comes a hellin'!!!

JenniferLeigh 11-09-2008 09:07 AM

Lexi's fetish is licking the inside of other dog's mouths, she'll get her whole head in there if she can.

That is so weird. I guess it must be the universal dog bed time. My first dog (a poodle) no matter what was going on or where we were in the house she would get up at 10pm and go to her bed. Now I have 2 other poodles and Tanjhei will get so angry at 10pm if I'm not ready to go to bed. She walks from the bedroom to me sitting at the computer and whine and cry until I finally put her on my bed so she can go to sleep

mstrooperwife 11-09-2008 02:10 PM

ok this is a couple of Tyke's little quirks.

when I blow dry my hair in the morning I usually hang my head upside down and here he comes jumping all over my feet and up my leg, I don't know if he's trying to play or he thinks the blow dryer is getting me.

this one is really funny.....any time you try to give him a treat or a dog bone....well if he doesn't want it he will push it towards you with his nose.:D
it's so funny....it's like he's saying no that isn't what i want right now. I showed my family and they laughed at him for pushing it away. it's one of those things that would really be cute if i video taped it.

Ashley V 11-09-2008 02:20 PM

I actually did think of a couple of Smokey's "quirks"...

He has to lick EVERYTHING... blankets and pants especially... oh and baby kittens!!

Anytime you give him a bone or a treat that he has to really chew on, he buries it under a bed or clothes or something.

OMG that is so hilarious and reminded me of Daizy!! she loves going into our bathroom where we throw our dirty clothes...(until I walk them downstairs to the laundry) and find my HUBBY's undies...and she will roll all over in them and eventually get caught in the legs....if my hubby see's her'...."he's like can you get your dog out of my underwear!!!!" LOL
