What color is this????? 1 Attachment(s) Ok, so I was browsing my local classifieds and came across an add for quality yorkies, yadayadayada, and clicked to see. The puppy is very cute as most yorkie pups are. There was a picture of mom and dad, so I clicked and this is what I saw. I have never seen anything like it, even after looking at the hundreds of pics of everyone's babies. I am assuming this is the father, as the pic of the other adult had a red bow. Is this a black and gold? |
weird, don't know what it is. |
I'm no expert, but it looks like the standard "blue and gold" to me. Some yorkies heads are a darker gold, like this one and some have a lighter "gold" which is more of a beige. The "blue" refers to the saddle and is more of a charcoal black color, not a black black, it has a metallic sheen to it, and it called blue, it's difficult to tell from this picture the saddle color, and the photo may have been enhanced. By the way ribbon colors do not denote sex, many males wear red, and it's a favorite color for yorkies. |
what color is this 1 Attachment(s) Tricksie is a blue and gold. Here is her pic. |
Mine are blue and gold also, I have just never seen a yorkie with such a dark face and that bright red/gold. It was really interesting to me. I am familiar with the breed standard, including color requirements, but I haven't ever seen anything like that one. |
it looks like he has a gorgeous coat but asm I seeing black on the face? Or am I looking at it wrong? |

He's certainly dark in color, without knowing the age of the dog pictured it's hard to say. Could be a younger dog with a coat that hasn't lightened. Or, could be a soft coated dog and the coat (blue) will never get lighter. It can take a couple of years for the tan to completely clear if it's going to. |
I'm not sure either, but he/she is beautiful! I love the coloring. |
1 Attachment(s) he looks to be the color of this little gal of mine. She was awarded her UKC champion title a couple of weeks ago.:) She is 17 months old. |

Dee she is GORGEOUS!! Much prettier than the other guy! :p Congratulations on her championship, you must be sooo excited! That is such an interesting color, I guess I am so used to seeing the lighter guys, the darker ones are just striking. |

3 Attachment(s) That is a black and gold yorkie. I have a black and gold yorkie boy. I love this color but it is a lot harder to come by these days. I would love to find a black and gold girl. Here is my Scampy boy... |
They are so beautiful! I love both of their coloring. |
Looks like black and gold to me |

2 Attachment(s) Gracie Ruth and Yogi's Papa I believe would be considered Black and Gold. I love his color and am hoping like heck that Yogi takes after him. Gracie takes after her Mama and has a lot of silver. 1&2) Pictures of Papa Manolo |

3 Attachment(s) My Roxie is still real dark on her head at 13 months. I have a feeling she may not clear ever. Also her feet are a real light tan. |
4 Attachment(s) My Abby is Black and Gold. That's one of the reasons I chose her. As the breeder was sending pictures, Abby really stood out. I really like all the different colors on Yorkies, but my favorite is the darker color...of course I'm a bit biased since I have one :) |

Such gorgeous babies!!! |
All the furbabies pics posted on this thread are gorgeous!!! I always said my next furbaby would be darker in color. If you have breeder recommendation can you please PM me. I'm just collecting some info right now so that in December once I convince DH I will be able to have the info on hand and bring home another furbaby. :D |

Example...my toy poodle was born a sable phantom and was suppose to eventually "clear" to an all cream, but she never did. most yorkies are born black and tan, but most clear to a blue and tan.. some one please correct me if Im wrong.. :D |
