At first, I would open his mouth, reach in, feel around, and I wouldn't find anything. Then, I'd notice him chewing. So, somehow I missed it. Reach in again, etc. I finally discovered that I need to reach far back in his mouth, further than seems "natural", and I find the chip way back near or in his throat.

Roxi and Rocco are ALWAYS eating wood, sticks ect. out of our yard... They don't do it on walks cuz they are preoccupied... I always try and snatch it out of their mouths before they eat it but Roxi runs and swallows it by the time I catch her... I have scars from diving at her to catch her to get bark and twigs out of her mouth!! It terrifies me that they might choke! But I don't worry as much as I used to... However I still run & dive when I see them chewing on stuff!! I thought it was just that Roxi was weird, but Rocco does it too!! |
