Hahaha! I do act like a momma who wants to see her grow up! I guess I can live with her not being a barker. I will wait and see. If she does start barking a lot I will nip it in the bud. No way is she going to get away with barking unless it is at someone at the door or a cat or something. She is my shop dog and comes to work with me so she has to behave and keep a low profile. ;) But my childhood pet, a yorkie, would bark at the door to be let out so I am trying to set up the same sort of thing if I can. She was a shop dog as well and was so good. :) Wish me luck! :) I am the crazy neighbor who barks when she goes in and out her front door. I wonder what my neighbors think! Hehe! |
Enjoy We'll I would be glad he doesn't bark! Ever heard of be careful what you ask for, cause you really might not want what you get. HEHE My baby doesn't hardly ever bark. The only time he barks is when someone is by the house. And of course I want him to bark then, sometimes he growls if they are to close. Besides that he only barks if someone knocks on the door. He is such a good baby! :p |
Well... I don't wish for a lot of barking...just her to have the ability to do so. Then I can complete her training. Haha. Can't complain too much. She is 18weeks now...I got her at 12 weeks.. and we haven't had an accident in several weeks. She has free run in the house now as a result and she loves it. She can sit, lay down, give me five, come, and stay 50% of the time! Haha! ;) She is doing very well. I have to figure out the begging thing though. She is a brat when I am eating. She knows what 'No' means, but doesn't seem to care when food is the issue! Haha! |
I think she's so happy, she's speechless:D:D:D:D |

Hahaha. Maybe I am too attentive so she doesn't have to bark! ;) Hehe! Ya...with our yorkie, Kiwi, would say, 'go lay down' and she would...she would still watch us in silence, but at least she wasn't hanging around making noise! :) Strawb and I do need to work on that one. I have her not biting on my laptop anymore...but she still tries to get my food. I have to keep moving her aside and telling her to lay down. She is a baby still. She'll learn. :) |
Yea, well yorkies don't like to disappoint their mommies. So she will learn. I taught mine the stay command to. He just wants to please me. But you are doing a great job. :D |
Thanks for the support! :) |
My little Daizy never barked when she was little...only time she barked was when she was playing with other yorkies! Now she's 10 months and I find her barking more and more!! Enjoy the silence while it lasts!! Or you might just be one of those lucky ones who has a quiet baby!!! |

Because they learned a long time ago that they were not getting food when we are eating, they don't even try. I can actually eat in the living room with my plate on my lap and a dog lying on either side of me and they never act interested. (Unless I get up and walk out leaving my plate accessible - they WOULD probably go after it, then. I just don't give them a chance). |
I have thought about that. I am not sure yet. I kinda feel like I want her to enjoy life and the kinds of foods that are healthy for her...but only after her own is gone. I know that will probably complicate things, but I can't imagine eating the same food everyday for years and years. Boring! I think it is like a kid eating their veggies. If they do, then they get dessert. If that makes me a softy, I guess I am. Haha. I will have to train her to wait and not beg and then when I am done, if she has eaten all her own food, I would give her a treat. It may make more of a begger out of her, but that will be my own bed to lye in! Hahaha! Our first yorkie, Kiwi, was in that habit and we only fed her good foods and she lived a very happy, healthy, long life. :) |
My Gracie turned one year old in September and didn't bark until about 3 weeks ago. We had boarded the dogs for a week and they came down with a mild case of kennel cough (even though they were vaccinated). I think she discovered she could make noise with the cough and started to bark occasionally. Until then, not a peep and now she still only rarely barks. I for one am glad and hope she doesn't turn into a barker. By the way, her bark sounds silly, kind of like a goose honking.:D:D:D |
all i know is that when they first do it you will think it is the cutest thing ever! our male barks a lot and our female mostly just makes a whining noise but when she does bark you know she means business and it's such a funny sound. both ours started about 8 months or so. |
The more and more I think about it, the more I am considering trying the bell idea. I will just buy a loud one. Do you think a front desk sort of bell is loud enough? |
